Beautyaddy:I can tell you vehemently that some People get interview dates even before an EAD is issued. If the petition is approved on the Interview date, Then a GC will arrive in hand within a month, There by having no need for an EAD. This is not common tho, but depends on the state the beneficiary lives in and how fast the service centre and the field office assigned to handle the case are working. yemiosinbajo |

yemiosinbajo:The information is not wrong, some people get GC even without a work permit in hand. Depends on the field office handling his or her case. But majority of applicants usually get the EAD and at a later date an interview is scheduled, then eventually the PR in hand. 2 Likes |

Chapecoense: Dude, you are talking about people who voluntarily choose not to apply for an EAD. You have the choice not to apply for an EAD, and in that case, you may get your green card without getting an EAD. It is not compulsory you apply for an EAD, as not everyone needs it. If you do choose to apply for an EAD at the time you apply for a green card, especially in the marriage case as you cited, your green card does not come before the EAD. That is where your wrong information comes from. "The work permit typically arrives just about 90 days after the application is received by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). (It takes much longer for the green card itself to arrive: 10-13 months or over 3 years, depending on the situation.)" https://www.boundless.com/immigration-resources/working-in-the-united-states-while-waiting-for-your-green-card/ https://www.uscis.gov/greencard/employment-authorization-document |

yemiosinbajo:True that applying for an EAD is optional during the AOS process, But i am talking about situations where the beneficiary files concurrently for an EAD, advance parole along side form I-485. It is not unheard of for an interview date to be scheduled before the EAD is issued. That 90 days your talking about doesn't even apply anymore as alot of people's application takes way longer than 90 days lol. But if a beneficiary is lucky to have his case transferred to a field office with less work, They can even schedule an interview before issuing the EAD. https://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/is-is-possible-to-get-a-green-card-before-the-ead--1425408.html https://www.avvo.com/legal-answers/why-i-didn-t-received-a-ead-card---but-was-schedul-3526103.html You can read up some people's timeline to see what i am saying. |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by Chapecoense(m): 11:27pm On Aug 01, 2018 |
yemiosinbajo:Some people's application can be really fast and if an Interview is to be scheduled before Issuing the EAD, there will be a hold completely and will not bother wasting resources producing the EAD until the outcome of the interview. If approved, the GC comes first lol but if the officers are not approving the GC immediately then the EAD is issued pending when the GC is approved |

Good day. I have an issue concerning my SEVIS payment. I paid Sevis in March for a schl I was admitted Into but I was denied a VISA. Now I have another admission but with a different school. Will I still need to pay another SEVIS ? If not, how do I go about it. Thanks for your prompt response. |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by yemiosinbajo: 11:33pm On Aug 01, 2018 |
Chapecoense: Ah, now I understand the angle you are coming from. There is a little mix-up going by what you stated in your initial comment. You stated that "the PR can be issued before the work permit is granted". What this your sentence literally means is that the PR can be granted first, and the work permit granted later. This is very wrong because once the PR is granted, the work permit will not be granted as the PR covers it. And if the PR is denied, the work permit will also be denied. Therefore, the PR cannot come first before the work permit. Reading the links you provided, I now understand what you are trying to say, but your wording was bad making it really confusing. |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by yemiosinbajo: 11:39pm On Aug 01, 2018 |
Chapecoense:This is right. Chapecoense:As I said, your wording is the problem. Once approved, there is nothing like "the GC comes first". Saying something comes first means that another thing is coming later. In other words, by saying if approved the GC comes first, you are literally saying that the work permit will follow. However, this is not the case, because once the GC comes, the work permit does not come, so you have to remove the "first". Chapecoense:If the GC is approved, the EAD is no longer needed and will no longer come. |

Hello, Is there anybody here who is studying in the University of Texas, Austin? If you know anyone, please direct me to them. I'm planning on applying to the University to study Advertising in the Moody College of Communication but everybody I tell about it keeps saying it's rated alongside Stanford and co, it's acceptance rate is low and I may not be admitted. I'm yet to write my GRE. It's in October. I want to apply for Fall 2019 (I hope it isn't late). I graduated with a cgpa of 4.11 from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. I'll be glad if I find people who can relate with this and out me through. Thank you. @Lagosismyhome @femi312 @twoods |

Spotlighte:Why do you allow people’s opinion to decide your future for you? If you apply and you don't get accepted, you have nothing to lose. Just make sure you apply to more than 2 schools and spread your risk from highly ranked to mid ranked. A man that has no dream is a dead man, its not a crime nor is it stupid to dream. Believe in yourself and put in a good application. If you fight, you can either win or lose whereas if you don’t fight, you have lost already. Writing GRE is not too late but make sure you submit all your application materials before November ending. Most top/good schools have deadlines set for Dec 15 for fall 2019. You have a decent GPA, try to complement it with a good GRE, advisably >315 Do a quick search on nairaland using ‘university of texas austin’ you should see someone or better still, go to linkedin and put ‘‘University of Texas Austin, Nigeria’’ Nigerian students in the school should pop up then you can connect and ask specific questions. I just did a quick search using ‘university Austin’ on nairaland and I saw that this guy/girl (kcm95) is going there. You see? This is not hard, you just need to be more proactive 6 Likes |

What's up beautiful people, please what's the level of being admitted if I have a very strong GPA without a GRE or GMAT? |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by femi312: 4:54am On Aug 02, 2018 |
McBayus01:If the school requires a gre or gmat, without it the chance of your application getting reviewed is zero . And by the way, strong gpa is relative. 1 Like |

I'm using my sister's company SOA do I need to state that is the company sponsoring me or my sister?. Please house respond to this. Thanks |
Re: General U.s.a (student) Visa Enquiries-part 13 by femi312: 5:42am On Aug 02, 2018 |
LoladeCA:The company ofcourse. Whoever owns/whose name appears on the soa is the person sponsoring you. Stating that your sister is sponsoring you and you show up with her company SOA is contradicting. However its hard to sell why your sister’s company is sponsoring you.A personal SOA is better. 1 Like 2 Shares |

kodeya:To the best of my limited knowledge, you won't be able to use the old receipt for the new interview cos the SEVIS ID have changed. Go to fmjfee.com and update your profile by switching the SEVIS ID to the new one. I believe you'll get to print a new receipt that way. Bless. |
