Waste to energy and gas are the only viable sources currently available and less expensive in Anambra. We can also try wind power but I am totally against Solar and Dams in Anambra.

wat is wrong with solar?

Too expensive, low efficiency, occupies huge landmass and still produces disappointing power.

Ah. I won't take that "false hope" talk anymore. If he cannot show us the current state of work in Umueri, he should stop uploading that old video and tell us the truth.

Century power is owned by OnyeAnambra, if century power comes together with Orient petroleum, Anambra state government and other investors like capital oil, Enugu distribution company, seplat oil, atlas oranto etc, we will definitely achieve 2,000 MW in 3 to 4 years.

Oilserve (owned by a Anambra son) is building the most ambitious pipeline for gas transportation the country has ever seen. Not sure if they've finished it yet.

So, like you allude to, if Anambra doesn't want to take advantage of its huge gas deposits for power generation, then its not for want of high networth sons and daughters that could help actualise the dream. Rather i'd say it's down to a lack of political will by subsequent Anambra gov'ts, as well as the dirty Nigerian ethno-religious inspired political-economy that's held us down over the years!

I'll look for that Oilserve YouTube video and post it.

Here's the clip. From beginning to 4.00 explains much of the scale of construction involved.

U touched on something that we have mentioned so many times on this site and got tired.

Y is it that Big business men in Igboland find it difficult to diverge into other equally profitable sector via joint partnership.

is it that they cannot work together?

The names u mentioned are just a few, we have more.

If these people can come together, Anambra state does not even need to be involved in business becos these names are more than capable financially.

Exactly! Besides Oilserv i mentioned earlier, there's also NESTOIL, Brittania-U and Emeka Offors' Chrome.

I think the unwillingness to form joint-partnerships is a Nigerian big man thing, and not peculiar to our Anambra or Igbo wealthy alone. Every Nigerian big man doesn't want to share the limelight with anyone else. They want to be the head honcho...Chairman and Chief-Executive....Oga pkatapkata...the one calling the shots, and a joint-partnership means they would get lost in the sea of all the other big men involved!

Maybe Obiano should be thinking of creating a platform for joint-partnership.

Actually inviting them to embark on joint-venture. Perhaps Anambra state should establish financial institution or building sociaty to that effect.

The state acts as a middle man or business broker.

A state-owned sovereign wealth fund could have served as a vehicle on which this joint-partnership thing could be actualised. Considering the huge diaspora Anambra has spread out all over the world, they could easily raise $10 Billion over say a ten year period which could be invested in roads, the Onitsha river port, the int'l airport, power and a rail network connecting its major cities to one another with a branch leading to the sea port in either Port Harcourt or Calabar. smiley

what obiano did they was rubbish. I live in awada... He used big caterpillars and destroyed the normal gutters that was very strong during election time and left like that. When he won. He employed one local company by name pachucks limited whose workers where mostly teenagers who he can dash any thing he likes except the people controlling the caterpillars.... They where busy economizing cement and guess what they used as stones for the concrete. They used caterpillar and destroy the old one and they will break the old cement into pieces and used it as stones to mix with cement and the iron rods where like babbed wire. Very very tinny. They where busy pouring and pouring cement. And for the road. They where filling it with clay soil... Mind u this was happening during the dry season. When we entered rainy season. They cared less till the main rain start. Guess what their job is when it rains and water carries all the loamy soil. They will go and bring trucks filled with clay and fill it up. When it rains again they will repeat the same thing. What they were doing was very ridiculous that residents in awada began to complain that the old gutters where ten times stronger than what this amateurs whew building... When cross the gutter like five times. It begins to wear off... They continued patching and patching till the heavy rain that did that thing... And guess what they ave arrived with another trucks of clay to fill it up as usual cos I passed through there today... Not only that place. He commissioned some places in awada and destroyed the gutters and flood is making mess of the area. We are now complaining that if he knw that he can't build it. He should ave left the strong gutters that was there bfore. All this is a joke. Obiano to me is very incompetent

I think that besides Ebonyi, and Enugu to a lesser extent, the rest states in the South East have suffered from shoddy works done by their state gov'ts...done in the name of 'delivering dividends of democracy'! They seem to be more interested in quantity rather than quality, just so they can point out the many roads they've done!

I called Ifeanyi Ubah a dummmy because he was busy investing good in money in a fruitless venture(football club) while abundance of opportunities abound that can help grow his wealth and position him to become one of the richest man in the black race.

Why cant Coscharis, Ibeto, Ifeanyi Ubah , Chicason and co pull their wealth together and fund a major power project? Igbos have a long way to go if they want to stand head to head with Arabs and Jews. Go to Houston and see they way Nigerians are pulling each other down while the Arabs are getting stinkingly paid by collaborating with each other.

The guy Xander is IGBOSON. He is from Rivers-Igbo, the part that is next to Ogbaru but grew up in Onitsha. I think he attended DMGS or CKC. He is more inclined to the SE just like Cjrane who is Delta-Igbo, maybe because of their nearness.

So every argument I do have is coz of facts I have not people on nairaland claiming Igbo.

I wouldn't say deceive but over ambitious. He has the will to do it but lets be honest Anambra do not have the financial strength to tackles all the infrastructural needs of the state. We need to increase taxes, that's the only way out. Our people don't want to pay taxes. There is no way a shop owner in main market should not pay up to 20,000 naira in revenue, monthly. These citizens are robbing the state.
This is the bitter truth that our people don't want to hear. The infrastructure challenge in Anambra is very enormous and monthly federal allocations are too meagre to address the challanges. The alternative is borrowing hundreds of billions of naira to fund the needed infrastructure but our people have been brainwashed to believe that borrowing is a bad thing.
