Xander85:thank u anambra as u see is the collective effort of Anambra indigenes not the government. Do u know how much tax mgbuka obosi. And other markets pays. The government shared ten thousand to each shop. And u must pay it. They ave been doing it since in mgbuka but there is no good road in mgbuka 1 Like |

Anambra is developing because of the indigenes who built one thing or the other. The market.the shops. |

Who knows the name of the contractor who did the roads in odume layout? They should be given more contracts. There are very good anambra-owned contractors like inter-bau, master holdings, akiota works etc that the anambra government should patronize. The only problem I have with them is that they refused to build their head offices in anambra. Pacchucs does not have that problem and that is why they are getting so much contracts now. Obiano is trying to keep anambra money circulating in anambra and he must be commended for that. |

OMANBALA1: I am not saying Anambra isn't a good place to do business, in fact the southeast happens to be the best place for any business owner to do business because of its closeness to over 70million customers within 4hours distance. The only reason I responded that way was the way the other brother responded when compared to other bigger states like Abuja, Lagos and Rivers state. These states in the subconscious of investors is the best place they go to because they something to offer. External economies of scale from those areas are high. Anambra state, if well managed has the biggest external economies of scale for automotive and commercial sectors. But we haven't made other people realize that, that is why even as we are growing, our state isn't getting the right attention it needs. Anambra state needs strong rebranding. Good media outlets that can sell the image well for us. Its important we do something about these and many more. |

Obiano should raise taxes now especially in markets. Otherwise, he should borrow from banks and pay back with taxes collected from traders. Goodies always come at a cost and the sooner our people realize it, the better. 1 Like |

hammer6F: Do you care about what happens in Osun state? Do you want to reverse the trend that has been making ndigbo lose over 500billion naira yearly to other regions? We need as a matter of urgency resell Anambra and as a whole alaigbo to the world. We need to break the over-dependency on Lagos. People will say Lagos is full but the number of investors trooping in keep increasing. They keep diving into the sea just to get space for businesses. In fact one of our brothers has gotten a piece of the slice in the ocean. Why, they keep seeing these places as places where their large scale businesses can only flourish. We should please stop indigenization of industries. What are we going to gain if the cleaner of our houses are Anambra people. The only way we can get the required attention is when other people see reason to invest in our space. No one is saying ndi Anambra are not trying but the aim is, let's become world champion and not celebrate mediocrity. 1 Like |

bestviewer: To be frank, you and I don't want Fulani herdsmen to come around our lands. We don't want that. We all want something much more Western. Something really big. The main market is due for reconstruction. The block and zinc pattern of business will soon fade away with many countries trying to fuse tourism with commerce e.g Dubai. We are the commercial nerve of the country, we need to show for it. We are just building the same thing the forbearers of the state built with a different paint. If we redesign Onitsha market and infuse E-market and tourism to the area. Not only are we going to attract the biggest brands like Gucci, Microsoft and other brands to the place, we will be cleaning up the whole area for good. Anambra state isn't making much from the commerce we are practicing now because we can't really value what each shop is making a year. We are not even trying to improve on it. Many states are trying to build main Market kind of shops, when our brothers run there, they will slowly be killing the relevance of main market. So if we keep sticking to today and be praising ourselves. Then we are not ready to look at what others are doing to be better. PS: I am not a lover of any other Nigerian state or cities. I just love my own place to be better for our people. 3 Likes |

hammer6F: A tax should have a regime. If we need more money for some bigger projects, the state can increase tax because it will still trickle down into their pockets. As far the projects will have a positive effect on the people, then we are good to go. |

Purehuman:it not about raising tax. It is about doing something with it.do u think they don't tax market. They do. Last two months. Every body in mgbuka paid ten thousand naira but still there is no good road there in mgbuka. And they ave started complaining about the toomuch tax which ave not yielded anything cos they don't see any improvement or infrastructures laid with all this tax |

ghostfacekillar: Don't worry, the new gutters will be stronger because the rain has already helped them wash away the sub standard gutters they constructed earlier and the contractor will not dear construct another sub standard gutter. The road currently looks like an earthquake site and vehicles can't ply the road. Now that work has started, let's wait and see what that contractor has in store for us. 1 Like |

Re: Update on developments in Anambra state-photos by NonsoWow: 8:01am On Aug 02, 2018 |
Purehuman:Exactly. It makes no sense that Anambra will generate so much revenue from people living within the state and then gift it to businesses based in other states. Contractors who want to get anambra contracts should relocate their head office back to anambra. The funny thing is that those contractors don't even get contracts from those states where they built their base because the governments of those states see them as non-indigenes who want to steal what belongs to their people. Yet, they expect anambra government to be giving them contracts for them to be paying as tax in other states. It is senseless. They should emulate Pacchucs engineering and Tamad construction that are based in anambra if they want to get contracts from the government. 2 Likes |

We as a people need to stop comparing ourselves with others because it will not favour in the long run. We should only have projections. We should be able to educate everyone about the direction the state is going. What do we want to achieve so that when you tax people for it, their resolve will be relaxed and it will not generate unnecessary uprisings. Anambra has two issues, namely: 1. Utilization of its inherent human capital strength. 2. Utilization of its economic advantage. We have the billionaires that are doing well all over the world. Are we managing them well? Sadly no! Anambra should as a matter of urgency have a huge economic forum where all these guys are invited. First, ask them what they want, and if it's within the power of the state to give them, let them have it for 5years. Let these people make money. Money intoxicates. After they have made money from Anambra, it will be your turn to suck tours from them. We should push for more electrical energy in the state. Many business owners are crying of recent because of this. They keep hammering on it. The senators and rep members in the state are morons, don't be annoyed if I pissed you guys off. Keep pushing and let us get more share from the grid. So that our businesses will not suffer. The under utilization of our people, Onitsha and Nnewi will soon give Edo, akwa ibom and cross river the advantage. We need to really look into ways of finally making these state depend on us forever. In fact we should be looking for ways 70million Nigerians and other African country to depend on us. The hurdle is difficult but it's achievable. 1 Like |

ghostfacekillar: The government should as a matter of sensibility give back to its people. If you increase the tax of a particular people, 30% gotten from there should be returned there so that the people will feel included in the income generated from them. It makes them more relaxed while they keep paying. 2 Likes |

NonsoWow: The only way states get richer is if they keep money flowing within its walls. Or else, they will be making money for other people. Major businesses should as a matter of urgency relocate to Anambra state if they will love to enjoy it's dividends. States should even put as a clause in handing projects to them. 1 Like |

Purehuman:yes bro. At any slight complaint from the citizens. They will start telling us how we avoid paying of tax. Comparing us with the European and co. Not knowing that the citizens pays for it because they see what their tax yields. Free education. Pipe borne water and the rest.free health centers etc. They will still tax u and things are getting worse day by day. The recent Okada ban came too early. There is no good roads for the keke that's is y they all prefer to convey people in the federal road because the bumps and gallops will slow them down. They want us to emulate the whites but they ave not lay any infrastructure to make the road viable. Anambra is good sha.they contributes to alot to the nation but let them make life easier for us... |

Purehuman:You are very correct. And to add, you shouldn't take that ghostface clown who is fuming that traders pay ten thousand naira in mgbuka serious. Even on a very bad day, a trader in mgbuka won't make less than 100k a day! Yet one clown is saying that a tax of 10k a year or even a month is too much! Our people don't like paying tax and they expect to have their roads paved in gold. On the average, no trader in the big markets should be paying less than 20k a month consolidated tax to the anambra government if we want to have improved infrastructure. 1 Like |
