You have no ties and your uncle being your sponsor isn't %100 reliable. Finally, it could've made some great sense, if you had been granted an offer conditionally at your alma mata than otherwise stated. You did well. Great response but you need to check these things out. However, Some VO's may choose to ignore "no wife, no kid(s) ties" since u are on F1 while others may not. This is my first time of quoting someone after i landed in the US since last year.
Good job!!

The bar code on my DS-160 does not match the bar code on my appointment letter.

How do I correct this anomaly?

The bar codes changed after I filled a new DS-160 and generated a new application ID.

I however updated my new application ID on my appointment profile on ustraveldocs but there is no appointment confirmation letter to this effect.

My interview is in two days' time.

How do I make the bar code on my DS-160 match my appointment confirmation letter?

PLEASE HELP ME

If it were to be a job interview here in Nigeria, would you advise your close friend to wear a native attire? While there's no rule to the dress code, I believe logic is the best thing here. You're going for an interview & not a ceremony so IMO, dress corporate. Is the same thing applicable to student with F-1 visa undergraduate degree (I.e we must dress corporate!)

u just have to keep checking and don't login to cgi site more than 5 times a day so you can check once every 5 hours. Different dates pop up at different times, you can see 18th today and see 14th tomorrow. You can't do emergency because you have been denied within the last two months. I'm not sure if it's two or four months but you'll be told if you try.

VO: Why WUI ?

Me: Dr Maureen Belzoid has an ongoing research on Public health workforce management issues including managing a multi-generational workforce which i am going to be a part of , also WUI offers pub health required courses on health services administration and epidiemology in which the former aligns with my career interest whike the latter with my undergrad degree in Anatomy

Visa delayed today , please experts in the house, what went wrong? What can I improve on because I plan to reapply asap..
I was interviewed by the African american Lady in window 7, she was just frowning , greeting self, she didnt respond
Me- goodmorning
V.o - pass me your documents * I passed it*
V.o - why this mba?
Me - I'm going for this mba because of career progression, it will enhance my strategic planning capabilities, managerial skills so I can be considered for a promotion at work
V.o - whats your highest degree
Me- I have a bachelor of science degree in masscommunication from xyz university
V.o - what year did u get this?
Me- 2012
V.o - What av u been doing since then?
Me - after my compulsory Nysc , I got a job with jumia Nigeria as a sales consultant, which I did for about two years before I got my present job as an analyst
V.o - why are u going for a program different from ur first degree
Me - * I didn't expect this question since mba is kind of like a general degree so I just sed something about since I graduated, I've been doing jobs related to business*
V.o - what's ur job description?
I manage day to day activities of the company, keep records of a portfolio of investments, attend seminars, conferences etc as requested the associates , do valuation work, deal.. ( then she cut me off)
V.o - That is the job of an executive assistant , what is the job of an analyst ?
Me - * I then explained my duties again and said that is the title given to me at work and that is my job description..
V.o - did u take any entrance exam to get this?
* I didn't know she meant GRE at first so I sed no, then she started typing and then it clicked to me that GRE is also part of entrance requirements so I then sed, ohhh I actually wrote GRE and brought it out to show her ..
Then she brought out blue paper and sed she will advice me to reapply...
I didn't get the chance to talk about my school at all or my graduate assistantship( I have a full tuition waiver)..it was really extremely painful..this was my first attempt.

what university?

VO: what course are u going for

Me: I'm going for my bachelor's degree in computer information systems at university of Texas El paso

VO: but why is business/commerce written on your F1

Me: i explained to him my concentration is computer information systems and it happens to fall under the business/commerce department in the school, that is why it is written on it

VO: okay, how did u hear of this school

Me: my sponsor who happens to stay in Texas told me about this school and all the positive reviews he's heard about it, and i also went ahead to conduct my own online research and discovered the school fits my career interest. I got to discover the sch has enough room for research opportunities, it is a leading federal research spending school
They place a lot of dedication to their international students
Another added advantage is my sponsor is also in Texas

VO: who is your sponsor

Me: My elder brother

VO: what does he do

Me: he's a consultant at an insurance company and a captain in US military reserve

VO: are your parents staying in the US

Me: they are legal residents and only went there few months ago to visit my elder brother because his wife delivered a baby. My dad got back a month ago due to his business, he works in oil and gas. My mum too would return back next week to continue her trade business
(they only became permanent legal residents 4 months ago)

VO: keeps typing and typing for like a minute
Next thing blue paper, u're not eligible at this time bla bla u can reapply again

He didn't even ask if i wrote any tests, didn't ask how many schools i applied to, didn't ask for statement of account and all those important questions for me to be able to prove I'll be coming back

Is it because my ties to US is strong and he sees me as a potential immigrant?

I'm so down, gurus in the house please what can I do next? And my school resumes August 27

Hello gurus in the house. I was denied yestday at lagos, white guy at window 3

@lagosismyhome @walspring and all the experts in the house, i need your advice
I'm 19 and i finished high school this year

You have a brother and parents who have PR so yes that can work against you. I would say don't give up and try again. You might meet a Vo who might ask you other questions that favour you

Also you focused too much on sponsor this sponsor that ... and stirred the interview into questions about sponsor. Don't do that again.

ME: Sure no problem.
VO: Once again congratulation and have a great time in your Masters study.
ME: Thanks I appreciate. Bye

Went out dumbfounded and unable to contain the possibility of getting my visa despite my Canadian ban. But God made it happen anyway.

To the travel hopefuls
Nothing is impossible. Prepare well and be very confident till the very end. Whatever will be will be
