Are you basing your opinion on what an African president said? On what occasion did he say it? Politicians say stuff to be diplomatic. Let's argue intellectually.

There was not one shred of my opinion in that comment. I simply said an African leader coined the phrase.

They can work on it na. The good thing is that we wouldn't be starting from square one. These are just some things to touch up on

In 10 months and with this year's budget passed already.

That thing up there is Benin 2015 stat, but, that said, equate the GDPs to the respective populations of the two countries, then, u tell me, on average, who has the better standard of living. A family of five would make do with a loaf of bread but two loaves wouldnt be enough for a family of 12.

Last time I had this debate, I was on ur own side but after I was provided with this link, I had a rethink ;

https://www.indexmundi.com/factbook/compare/benin.nigeria

When Nigeria sneezes, only its citizens catch cold

Some indices are difficult to compare because the stats are from different years but looking at the GDP/capita (PPP) that of Nigeria almost doubles that of Benin (I believe that GDP is one of the most important indicators for a nations growth/wellbeing).

I will go over the entire sheet when I turn on my laptop but from what I can see so far Benin is not necessarily better. Don't get me wrong, Nigeria has a long way to go and there are some African countries that outperform Nigeria even though they may have smaller overall GDPs however, I don't believe that Benin is one of those countries. I'll go over the link properly though.

Btw some of the indicators are from 2016, 2017.

Size of stadia does not always indicate standards being increased. A packed stadium does a lot for viewers watching at home, it makes the event more exciting.

Please if I may ask why do the others not meet CAF standards?

First of all, out of the 4 stadiums Gabon used 3 were within 20,000 capacity.

Stade d'Oyem stadium - 20,500

Stade de Port-Gentil stadium - 20,000

Stade de Franceville stadium - 20,000

Only Stade d'Angondjé stadium is 40,000. So, what are we talking about.

Equatorial Guinea 2015 stadiums worse pass. Only one stadium is 40,000 capacity, the rest no reach 16,000. To add salt to injury one was 8,000 capacity. grin

We have better stadiums than those Gabon stadiums in that picture. Fact.

Have you seen the new Onikan stadium under construction?

It is far better than that 8,000 capacity used in 2015 though around 8,000 capacity too. It will be ready this December.

Don't forget Lagos government has ALREADY approved the replacement Of the artificial grass to natural grass in Tesilm Balogun stadium.

Lagos state government will do anything to host international matches if given the opportunity.

Check out the Onikan stadium under construction. Pls he'll me post am here. grin

EPL: What Leicester boss said about Iheanacho after scoring against Valencia

on August 2, 2018
By Don Silas

Leicester City manager, Claude Puel has hailed striker, Kelechi Iheanacho after the Nigerian international scored in Wednesday’s pre-season friendly game against Valencia.

Iheanacho netted from a close range in the 11th minute as the game eventually ended 1-1 after the normal regulation time.

The 21-year-old took his tally to two goals in his last two matches in pre-season, having scored against Udinese last weekend.

Puel, however, admitted that Iheanacho was still struggling to attain full fitness.

”I think Iheanacho came back with a good mentality, of course, he cannot play for a long time at the moment with good fitness levels,” Puel told Leicester City’s website.

”I’m happy about the mentality of the players. They’ve come back with a good spirit and with a fighting spirit.

”I’m happy about this, but we needed to make attention and protect them with rotation and to work on their fitness step by step.”

Iheanacho did not begin pre-season with The Foxes as he was given an extended break due to his commitments with the Super Eagles during the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Safety is another topic.

If 6 stadiums are all what it is required to host Afcon, then we already have good ones.

1. Abuja Stadium - 60,000 capacity

2. Godwin Akpabio stadium - 30,000 capacity

3, Adokia Stadium - 38,000 capacity

4. Obafemi Awolowo stadium - 35,000 capacity

5. Sani Abacha stadium - 16,000 capacity

6. Asaba stadium - 22,000 capacity

What about the famed Ogbe stadium, theater of Dreams

Many Man Utd fans viewed Tosin Kehinde as a great prospect based on the reactions to his departure. Unfortunately, Man Utd could not assure him of the first team football, he craved.

I hope he goes on to achieve his potential. Nigeria needs world class talents.

He is already 20, he needs top flight football.

I 100% agree he needs first team football.

But to go to Portugal to find it

He would have been better going to Championships on loan and ,make his way upwards if he can, but it seems nobody wanted him why??

Considering he so good

He did not want a loan move.

How many academy players just keep going on loan when the parent club don't have any plans for them? Very few are given the first team chance.

The portuguese league is a good place for his development. I can go through a long list of great youth players who disappeared in the championship.

Bribery scandal: Eagles assistant coach battles to save job

Published August 2, 2018

Salisu Yusuf is facing the sack as Nigeria assistant coach after he was caught on camera allegedly receiving $1,000 bribe from men posing as football agents to select two unnamed players for his Morocco 2018 African Nations Championship squad.

In a BBC footage published last week, the coach, who helped Nigeria win silver at the 2018 CHAN, was promised 15 per cent of the fee if the players made his squad for the tournament.

The Nigeria Football Federation has since announced they are investigating the allegation against the 56-year-old former Enyimba coach, who is currently seeking treatment to his ailing leg abroad.

“It’s true that the NFF has commenced a preliminary investigation into the matter to assist the Committee on Ethics and Fairplay,” NFF director of communications Ademola Olajire told BBC Sport.

“This is a very sensitive matter and a proper investigation is required by the football authorities.”

However, our correspondent learnt that the NFF has allegedly decided to fire Salisu, who has denied any wrongdoing, saying the money was a gift and that he selected his squad on merit. He said he received $750 from one of the men, not $1000.

Our correspondent learnt that the embattled NFF is unhappy with the development and has decided to axe the former Kano Pillars coach, who doubles as manager of the national Under-23 team.

Although the NFF has yet to establish a case of bribery against Salisu, it was learnt that the body is not happy that he accepted money from the agent, whether it was a bribe or a gift as published by the BBC footage.

It was learnt that the federation was at first divided whether to fire the coach or retain his services, but in the end the leadership allegedly agreed that Salisu should be sent packing following the negative publicity generated by the video.

It was also learnt that some of the NFF officials who want the coach out reminded those opposing that those filmed either demanding receiving bribes or gifts in other parts of the world were forced out of their jobs.

However, sources told our correspondent that the former Nasarawa United manager is not taking chances, as he is allegedly working behind the scenes to save his job.

It was learnt that he has allegedly reached out to some influential persons to help him retain his job.

How Rohr feel?

Rohr will not be happy cos Salisu was his assistant and have a say in players selection to WC.

,Possibly some players made it through Salisu influenced and suggestions and likely money was involved.

He should be sacked ASAP if he cannot resigned cos i don't expect him begging with the cleared evidence against him.

U17 AFCON Qualifiers : We Are Suffering, Golden Eaglets Coach Manu Garba Cries Out

U17 AFCON Qualifiers : We Are Suffering, Golden Eaglets Coach Manu Garba Cries Out
Less than one month to the West Africa Zone B U17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers in Niger Republic, Golden Eaglets coach Manu Garba is worried over a lot of things.

The compulsory MRI tests have not yet been conducted, the players live in deplorable conditions and are ill due to a malaria attack.

''We have been clamoring for it for long. The NFF has given approval for the MRI test but unfortunately we are still waiting for money to be released so that the MRI can hold,'' Manu Garba said.

''No matter how good or how young a player is, once he doesn't pass the MRI he cannot take part in the competition.

''When the MRI is conducted we will know who is eligible to participate in the competition so we are worried.

''The NFF should try and make it to be conducted during the week so that we can know those who are eligible for us.''

Manu Garba has also carpeted the Nigerian Federation over the nonpayment of bonuses and allowances to the technical crew.

''MRI is the major problem but the players themselves are not staying in a good condition. Most of the players have been down with malaria.

''With the number of players we have, we cannot take all of them to the hotel, that's why I said MRI is our greatest problem.

''After the MRI, we reduce it to a sizeable number like 30 or 35 that can go to the hotel for maximum concentration.

''Secondly, since we entered the camp, there have been no allowances to the coaches, so we need the NFF to look into that aspect so that it can motivate us to do more,'' he concluded.

In their latest friendlies, the Golden Eaglets, who didn't qualify for the 2017 Fifa U17 World Cup, beat Siaone Academy and Derby FC 3-0 and 4-0 respectively.

Ifeanyi Emmanuel

I repeat, I don't believe golden egalets will qualify for U17 Afcon 2019. I'm very scared, it'll be twice in a row now

Hello folks! Any update on Salisu's saga? It is now 1 week and counting... Baba jazz strong o.

On the other hand, the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup has so far received low publicity. Can't even believe the tournament is starting in few days time. We only hope our ladies will do us proud.

Ebuehi's ACL injury news was so painful. Wishing the young man quick recovery. Aina it's your time to grab that RB position. Don't let it slip away.

Happy Nacho has started burying some balls. Hope he can keep scoring and discover his old sef. Success seems revitalized. Someone seem to have talked sense into him. Hoping for injury free season for them all.

@Tbaba1234, how far with the PSG deal? Is it still on?
