OGN had earlier reported that Rohr will run the rule over two Nigerians in Europa League qualification

Here is the latest from ANS:

Rohr Hints At Call-Up For 20-Goal Striker Adeleke Akinyemi After Scouting Teenager

Published: August 03, 2018

Gernot Rohr has hinted that he could call-up top prospect Adeleke Akinyemi to the national team in future after scouting the Ventspils striker in Thursday evening's Europa League qualifier against Bordeaux.

Akinyemi's sparking display in the Europa League has awakened the interest of several Nigerians in the second-tier competition and he didn't disappoint against the French Ligue 1 opponents, having netted his seventh goal in the competition in the 65th minute.

The 19-year-old has found the net 12 times in his last seven games in all competitions for Ventspils, scoring in each of those matches apart from the 1-0 loss to Bordeaux last Thursday.

''Rohr was at the Stade Matmut-Atlantique, he was introduced to the supporters before the game and took the ceremonial kickoff, '' a top source told allnigeriasoccer.com.

''He had a chat with the three Nigerian players Alfa, Akinyemi and Tosin before the start of the game. He was happy with their performance, especially Akinyemi.''

Within the next three weeks, Rohr is expected to announce his squad list for a 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Seychelles.

sorry but what is "weighty'' about it? at best it's conspiracy theory b**lshit at worst a national team player recommending a talented player to the coach which is not unusual remember yobo abbey george? i just think for some reason laloko wants to make the headlines

It’s not a matter of whether Joel merited it or not. The allegation is a weighty one. I think it’s fake news after all.

Morocco to host afcon 2019. It promises to be great as almost all the big wigs will be in the tourney. Almost all the heavy weights seem so packed with talents this period, it will be interesting to watch Senegal, ivory coast, Nigeria, Morocco, ghana et al in one afcon battling it out

I concur. This edition will be great for African football.

Bia, Joebie, please don't tell me that you're giving any credence to baseless naija bloggers? There is NO paternal relationship between Joel Chukwuma Obi and Mikel Nchekwube Obi. ZERO. ZILCH. NADA!

Was Joel also in that academy? If so, then we have to get to the bottom of it. This is a big allegation for someone like Laloko to make Why is this report not also on other media outlets? Let me check.

That story is only on two lesser websites. Looks like fake news to me. Or did anyone listen to Laloko say it in Brilla? Is the story even on Brilla fm website or on ther Twitter page?

We wouldn't have qualified if it was only the group winners. We have every right to qualify since the top 2 qualified as a result of the nation's cup expansion.

It is all but confirmed that Ola Aina will be farmed out on loan by Chelsea before the transfer window closes for business, with manager Maurizio Sarri omitting the Nigerian defender from the last two rosters for games against Inter Milan and Arsenal.

As reported by Football Insider, West Brom are in the market for a right-back after missing out on the signature of Yeovil’s Tom James and have switched their attentions to Ola Aina.

The Baggies are preparing to lodge a loan bid for the Chelsea fullback and they need to conclude negotiations before the next six days as the transfer window in England will close on August 9.

Aina impressed during his first loan spell away from Stamford Bridge, making 46 appearances in all competitions for Hull City, including 44 starts.

The 21-year-old was given false hope that he was in the plans of Sarri after he traveled with the first-teamers to Australia for a friendly against Perth Glory, but has been training with the 'loan group' since the squad returned to the United Kingdom.

Central defenders Kenneth Omeruo and Fikayo Tomori are the other players of Nigerian descent linked with a temporary departure from Chelsea this month.
hmmm... Dude should not go to the championship OOO. A mid-table English team or French league 1 side won't be a bad move.

Remember it took a while for Rohr to give Obi an invite despite being in great form. Would Mikel not have been pissed when Chidibere Nwakali was invited over him??
Not too much is known of J Obi's past sha. One thing I've learnt in life is nothing is impossible. Wouldn't be in the least bit shocked if this is true.

Bigger media outlets are not even going near this news. I dunno why. cos if this is true.... which I think it is. I'll ask my padis that listen to Brilla often.

I wonder.

Pondering as well.

When new cans are about to be opened, Nigerians always seize the can opener..

I've never been a fan of Nigeria having produced smooth academy to Europe deals for young footballers etc. So I'm like 40% believing this...

Only confirmation is left now....

I'll be careful with the usage of "fake" here actually.

I'm still hunting Brilla fans that are friends to confirm. No one wants to be the first to post "alleged truth" these days with all these ban and acts this bubu tenure.

Laloko would have to be the biggest psycho around to just wake up and make up such a baseless rumor.
What I don't believe is him trying to imply that J Obi wasn't invited on merit. We all know he was in good form for Torino last season.

We already have a deficit of - 2 goals and 1 loss from 1 game, ie - 3 points. It's not kind of record that eventual group winners normally start off with.
In addition to this, our immediate past record with Afcon qualifications is nothing to write home about, having qualified once in the past 4 editions.
You get the picture now?

Let's just wait because if Giwa accepts to withdraw his case Nigeria would be the biggest winner because apart from helping us to avoid a ban it will bring back a much needed private club. Tbh the Giwa ban left a bad taste in some people's mouths especially the how the club got taken out of the NPFL.
with the proposed offer of reinstalling his club Giwa FC. I see it as a win-win for both parties if they can reach a mutual concession.

But the question now is this. Will Giwa agree to have his club join the NNL? Cos that is the only feasible way of getting them back in to the folds of Nigeria Football League.

True talk... Based on previous qualification pattern where only group winners progresses, I think we would have bid farewell to the competition.

Loosing your first game at home to a group contender is actually suicidal. Been grouped alongside two African football minnows like Seychelles and Libya(presently unstable) is dicey. Those two nations can pull a TChad on us and voila we are a goner.

We need a resounding victory over Seychelles in our next encounter.

On another note, how many groups do we have for AFCON qualifiers?

Lool I'm happy he's staying. I knew Emery rated him and all but I was worried he might be sold to raise funds for a new winger.

The interest from Lazio was not BS. It was widely reported by various credible sources. Being English homegrown may have swayed Arsenal's position because they are very short on the numbers to get the quota.
We will get to know in the days ahead his real position in the Arsenal set-up as Emery is trying to play Aubamayeng and Lacazette together, leaving very limited space in midfield with two positions out of 4 taken up by DMs.

Emery rates Iwobi from all his comments about him.Iwobi will still play an important role under Emery. Auba and Laca will not play together in all games.
