Y giv delta a competition of this magnitude to handle? Have they successfully handled local competition or they think building a stadium in a hurry qualifies you to host such?
Whos responsibility was it to ensure delta was fully ready as a host..

Asaba, the city that decided to embark on construction works that block almost all the major roads at the same time, and at the peak of raining season in a town prone to flooding. The kind suffering me and my car went through this past month in Asaba makes me yearn to go back to Lagos with all its hassles. When I saw almost all major roads blocked and was told there will be an international event like the athletic championship, I thought it was a joke.

I'm equally baffled why Asaba was selected as the venue for this competition instead of cities like Lagos, Port Harcourt, Abuja, Uyo, Calabar, or Enugu. Right now Asaba's road network is at its worst, and the rains has caused a lot of flooding in the city, hence the present construction of drainage systems by the state govt. Frankly the person behind the selection did the nation a great disservice and must have been high on Tramadol. This is a big mess.

A country hosting a sports event is channelled to the President of that country, who in turn mobilizes his finance, sports and governor of region in which events are to take place in conjunction with leader of the sports federation to host the event and ensure it's a success. If the competition turns out a mess, the President of the country is held responsible. likewise if it is a success, the President gets the accolade. The LOC (local organizing committee), which must have included the Delta state government bids for events like this, Athletics federation don't just dash hosting rights to people that don't wish to host such events.
Delta state government must have fought for the right to host this event out of all possible states that can host the events in Nigeria. It is quite different from a world cup which is held in more than one city or state.

Hence, it is the job of the LOC to ensure the events run smoothly.

I know you will like to blame the president, but you are completely off on this one.

I never insulted itsekiri. I exonerated where I came from and I am proud to always be urhobo anyday anytime. Some of the mess okowa inherited was from uduaghan who never remembered home. I don't blame okowa for not working. How can a governor work with so much debt inherited. Urhobos as a nation believe in equity and equality. At the time oil was 130 dollar's no infrastructure on ground. He was busy doing tile lock and breaking them again. Please travel far and wide you would see what uduaghan has done to us as a state. He couldn't even do one tangible thing for his people. Most of the travails the state is facing was as a result of his bad leadership. He plunged us into so much debts. Name on thing he added to the state for eight good years.

Uduaghan inherited the highest debt from ibori as well, might u ibori is a cousin to uduaghan and both are friends with okowa. So u are actually fooling urself for trying to defend one n castigate the other.

This is not the first time delta is hosting this even during uduaghan tenure as governor, delta hosted this very event in Warri township stadium and it was a success.
