Re: Give Birth In USA: Cost And Procedures Part 6 by LovelyJas: 8:20am On Aug 04, 2018 |
expectingmum: Houston POE wasn’t bad at all, In fact, it was the other way round- they were very nice and attended to me quickly. Now I don’t know if it was because I was heavily pregnant and was traveling with my toddler alone. I was only asked where I was going to stay, how much I had on me and he added that he hoped my husband was coming to help me out. I declared I had over 10K and was directed to somewhere to fill out forms. They asked me what foodstuff I had and I said just the regular Nigerian food, nothing spectacular...They got someone to help me with my luggage and they wished me well. It was very short. Other pregnant women were still on the queue but I was singly directed to an officer who wasn’t attending to anyone to attend to me. After filling out the forms, he helped me wheel my luggage out to where I could find my Aunt. I guess he probably pitied me wheeling my luggage and coming back to wheel my son’s stroller. 1 Like 1 Share |

Congratulations on the arrival of your baby. Your husband needs to go get the notarisation done at the embassy asap and send to you via DHL, but appointment is needed, here is the link: https://evisaforms.state.gov/acs/ here is the link for the form he will take to the embassy: https://eforms.state.gov/Forms/ds11.pdf The birth certificate needs to be processed asap else it will delay you. Once the birth certificate is ready and the notarised form has arrived, then proceed to book an expedited appointment for the passport, it defers by state, you might need to wait for a Houston mum to reply your post. When you have the passport, you need to send a mail to immigration in Nigeria (oa@nigeriaimmigration.gov.ng) for visa on arrival approval letter, you need to send your data page, hubby's data page, baby's data page, copy of your return ticket and house address. All the best. LovelyJas: 7 Likes 1 Share |

I don’t know how to post on Nairaland without quoting cos I’m quite new here. So biko bear with me. I read a lot of people’s feedback and all before traveling and some were really helpful while some others were confusing and almost made me panick for no reason. Anyways I left naija yesterday August 3rd with qartar airline. It was my first time flying qartar. They are really strict. They almost didn’t let me fly cos I came a little late due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control. After praying and begging, the Indian Oga let me in but refused to check in my bags even though some naija officials wanted to help me. I sha cried and carried myself into the plane with my mum with just my handbag. The flight from naija to Doha was 10 long hours, I was on transit for an hour,55 mind and my flight from Doha to jfk was 13hours. The only good thing I like about Qartar is the way they bombard you with food but honestly to me the long hours aren’t worth it sha. My feet are swollen and all. After i passed the check in point at Doha to board my connecting flight to jfk, i decided to go ask one of the qartar officials checking people’s passport for WiFi password o and all and that was how one of the qartar officials noticed me and asked if I was pregnant, I told her yes and she asked me how many weeks and I said 29 weeks and she was like I should wait that she needs to call her Oga to check my fit to fly blah blah. I was like Nawa o what have I gotten myself into . I sha showed them my fit to fly and the one I got from the Nigerian Airport. The officer now asked for my correspondence and doctors appointment letter. He showed me his I.d and was like he is an American immigration officer and all. In my mind I was like “ una no go let me reach American soil first before all these interrogation bikonu” I sha showed him everything, my doctor’s appointment and hospital estimate for my delivery and all He now checked my visa and was like “oh it’s a b1/b2 visa so you are entitled to seek medical care or give birth in the USA provided you can afford to pay all your bills and not become a liability.” I said yes I know all that. He also asked me why I am getting too much discount from the hospital and I told him it’s cos I’m paying in cash and he was like ok. He now said why didn’t I pay a deposit to the hospital and all and i said cos I wasn’t comfortable giving them my card details info on the internet due to the level of fraud and all but I already have an agreement with the hospital to pay in cash at my dr’s appointment. He was very friendly and even started gisting with my mum and he was like congrats and I can go board the flight. We landed in Jfk at 8am USA time, the queue wasn’t so long sha. I just prayed with my mum and we went to join the queue. I had already prepared my papers and everything I’ll say, but I was a bit worried cos I had only 2k6 dollars cash on me compared to some people who carry up to 10k dollars. My mind didn’t give me liver to carry too much money before I faint if it gets stolen. Cbp: (bald chubby white man) Good morning My mum and I : Good morning Cbp: what brings you to the states My mum: vacation, my grand child’s 1st birthday party and my daughter’s child birth. Cbp: who is your daughter? Me: I am. Cbp: oh that’s good. Is this your first time in the USA? Me and Mum: No Cbp: when was your first time ? Me: since I was 5 years old Mum: since I was 25 years old. Cbp: goes through our passports and was like yes that’s right. Cbp: how long do you want to stay? Me and Mum: 3 months and half Cbp: ok. Do you have food stuffs? Fruit? Livestock blah blah ? Mum and I: No we don’t Cbp; Do you have more than 10k usd with you ? Mum and I: No we don’t. Cbp: stamps our passport and said enjoy your stay in the states pretty girls with a big smile Me: blushing. Thank you sir. One with God is really majority. See me thinking many many and worrying about the small money I had in my hand and everything that could possibly go wrong. I even worried if my b1/b2 Tourist visa would entitle me to give birth in the USA cos I had read on Nairaland that you need to apply for b2 medical visa, send change of intent letter or use ur visa to go for visiting first before childbirth. Btw Last time I went to the states was 2016 July, renewed my visa March this year via Dropbox and this trip is my first visit to the States since the visa was issued. The cbp didn’t even ask for my correspondence, hospital or anything about my delivery, no secondary inspection or money count. While I was busy worrying, God had gone before us to pave the way. It’s really good to prepare correspondences and all but the main thing is to let go and let God take control. Now heading to New Jersey now to go sleep and prepare for my nephews bday later tonight then take a flight to Atlanta where I would be giving birth. Thank you Jesus. I wish everyone safe delivery and easy breezy Poe experience. Amen 22 Likes |

Somie4: Congratulations! There are several grounds on which things could have just gone soft for you.... Your next renewal - if things stay as they are now or get worse at the embassy - however may not be as smooth as this your JFK POE experience. The possibility of this is high, but not always so. Good day lovely people, please I have a question. One of my colleague gave birth with b1 visa and had successful renewed her visa since she was honest at the poe. She had also used the renewed visa to visit the usa. The problem is that she just discovered that she is two months pregnant and her visa will be expiring in October. Is it better she does drop box for b1 or do the drop box for b2 visa |

Good day house, I had my interview today and I was denied. You all have been very helpful: My interview questions Why are going to US? (To have my baby) Do you have another child? (Yes, a daughter) Where does your husband work (Answered) Where do you work (Answered) Then I was given the pink paper. I don’t know where I went wrong. Was very prepared with all my documents as I’ve read this thread thoroughly from page 1. My husband went for his interview too and he got a visa. |

@ mpress Good day house, I had my interview today and I was denied. You all have been very helpful: My interview questions Why are going to US? (To have my baby) Do you have another child? .................................................... Dear i think you should reapply if you still have time. Visa denial can be very painful especially after careful preparation and planning. my visa interview was last week. am 6 months pregnant and that wasn't a problem. i wasn't denied but i was asked to send my account statement with my passport for my visa. all the best dear 2 Likes |
