While majority of us was livid with rage at how United were playing drab football under Mourinho, the board showed they trusted the work Mourinho was doing, and maybe saw something we the fans weren't seeing, and handed him a new contract before his was to expire next season. That's the highest form of approval coaches can get.

Since instead of wisely not giving Mourinho a new contract till he delivered, and if he doesn't, he can leave after next season, why give him a new contract and refuse to get him some of the players he asked for? If the board weren't seeing benefit for their formerly acquired players, the sane thing to do was to sack Mourinho or deny him a new contract. Why back him with a new deal and leave him hanging when he'd given Woody a list before the season ended?

If anything goes wrong, I won't blame Mourinho alone, I must blame the board that gave him a new contract without getting him some of his demanded targets.

The club has books to balance and can't keep shelling out money to fulfill Mourinho's fantasy. The difference between what both Manchester clubs have spent on players under both current managers is not quite significant.
I am sure the club believes we signed one of the best managers in the world and the best managers do not really need 'mercenaries' to perform.
We can as well sign Tony Pulls and get him all the world class players available and I am sure he will win trophies.
The club has backed Mourinho enough and this is time for him to show ROI. simple.

You're probably in a haste to counter me that you missed something vital which if you had spotted, you wouldn't have written your reply.

@emboldened, go through my post again, I wrote "SOME of his transfer targets" not "ALL". Mourinho or anybody is not stupid enough to request for all his targets to be acquired. He has said it sometime back in the past. Last summer, we went from Griezmann to Morata to Ukaku. We went from Dier to Matic. There are always other options for his targets.
