OP, you are a learner.

On Fiverr, most buyers will go for USA sellers but that does not mean Nigerian accounts won't make sales. I have worked with Indians in the past, most of them are crooks. If he didn't order from you, let him go, don't beg him if you don't want to regret it

Even on NL, we are weary doing business with our own kind..fact

Nigerians don't love and respect each other. Every blessed day on Nairaland resort to insults, curses, abuses, etc between different tribes and religions but you expect foreigner to respect you.

How dare you use the word racism in this context? The worst SET OF "RACISTS" are Nigerians who hate their own kind becuse of tribal and religious difference.

Exactly my thoughts too. OP made him believe he was going to outsource the work. Don't volunteer recommending another person for a job when not asked to.

gurunlocker:
Baba, na you jumped into conclusion from your screenshot. He said bye, just leave him. There are many Indians that offers graphics design and the contributed to larger part of graphics in any freelance website.

Concluding he said bye because you are from Nigeria makes no sense, have you thought he left you because you plan to outsource the work?

Moreover, if you are not new to freelance, you should even be happy you are not working with him because most of them are hard to work with. He will kill you with revision.

It is NOT racism. He has a list of countries he would deal with and Nigeria is not included. He is the paying customer so he gets to decide how he spends his money.

Youngadvocate:
This is the first time I would ever see this.

I just got a message on Fiverr this morning from a potential client from Bangladesh, India.

I replied and he told me he needed a Graphics Designer. Unfortunately, I'm not one. I'm just a Copywriter and Digital Marketer.

But, I offered to help him get a professional that can give him a "topnotch design." He gladly and instantly accepted.

However, there was a sharp twist of discussion when he asked me "where are you from?" and I told him I'm from Nigeria, which my Fiverr profile clearly shows. (Perhaps, he didn't see it).

As soon as I told him, he said he was busy to chat with me and bade me good bye.

But I wouldn't let him. And we had some exchange of words which I want to share with you guys.

Obviously the OP is new to freelancing. As a freelancer, if a client is from India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal e.t.c. I run as fast as I can. These people are hard to deal with and their pay is always very low. To them, 5$ is like 1000$.

I don't think. It's fairly clear. Nigerians who work online actually suffer a lot.

This has absolutely nothing to do with racism. At the end of the day he also has a right to choose who to do business with.

Move on, your clients are out there waiting.

For a nation that celebrates fraudsters and drug dealers with street carnivals, why should anyone be surprised when other nationalities thread cautiously?

Even as a Nigerian myself, I fear fellow Nigerians in business; so I guess that also makes me racist.

Indians are worst set of people on any freelance website to work with. They are the one that will order and later cancel and still have the guts to use your work on their website.
Re: Racism: How I Lost India Client On Fiverr Because I'm A Nigerian - Photos by Nobody: 12:44pm On Aug 09, 2018
Op seems your new to freelancing. You should be glad you didn't work for him, Indian clients are the most ungrateful beings on earth, very rude! When you do the work finish, they will ask for never-ending revisions and give you sleepless nights then crown with a 3-star review. I don't work for them, and never will. Actually, I did work for one, and ever since never worked for Indians again. He wanted me to build a website for HP India, I think he offered to pay $1000-$1500 then. The deal was looking good until the actual work began. Firstly it was WordPress, then he had a mockup design not done by me, so the designer wasn't considering the limitations at all, but I was because the work will be done by me. No problem! I know exactly how to go about it, then he gave me a theme to work with (Jupiter) I told him it will be impossible to customize it to look like the mockup, I rather choose a theme of my choice and he will pay for it. He refused, said HP asked me to use the theme. I told him I need two weeks to finish the project and he agreed. But the next day he told me he was traveling to the UK and will assign a supervisor to me, we communicated by telegram only. Now the supervisor came with his own issues, told me HP wants to check the website in 2 hours, the homepage should be ready. I told him it was impossible, we agreed in two weeks HP can look up the project because by then it will be completed. The guy started abusing me, next thing he said was that he can finish the site in 2 hours. I sent the admin user and password to him, told him I was going to bed. That was around 4 am in the morning, this guy started calling me on telegram, I went offline. When I woke up in the morning, the client himself left me some nasty messages. Hmm, for the 2 days I handed that project I couldn't sleep, he will call me at 2 am, 4 am, 5 am and I had it up to here. Told him to cancel the job, I'm not interested anymore. I wasn't handling the project anymore but check it once in a while to see how long it took the next developer to do it, and the site was fleshed out in a Month

Your conduct was very unprofessional. If in fact he is racist, which is likely, you can't bully him out of being racist.
Going by the desperation you displayed, it would be very easy for a potential client to mistake you for a scammer.
