Adisaowalla: It is not about having the meanest defence, it is about having a solid defence base. I am not advocating for Mou, I am only stating what I know about the game. Defence is very important. Our defence wasn’t mean because DDG saved more shot than Ederson had to face, DDG was our saving grace last season, no wonder he won the Club Best Player Award. I am of the opinion that’s Mou doesn’t trust his defenders to hold their own that’s why he prefer defending deep instead of a high line. Look at our match against Chelsea in FA cup final, see how the goal comes about and you will see what I’m talking about. Most of our defenders can’t play out from the back, pressing high up the pitch with defenders like Smalling and Jones is going to be disastrous (well that’s what I think, I might be wrong) The reason we finish 19pts behind City was because of the silly point we lost against the lower teams and our inconsistency. While I agree that Pep style of play played a part in their campaign last season, you can’t deny the fact that their defence play a huge part, if not Pep could have stick with Mangala, Sagna, Hart, Bravo, Kolarov and co. That’s what I think anyway, it doesn’t necessarily makes me wrong or makes you right. Shalom. |

larride: I disagree....u can check Fergie & the great Liverpool triumphs, what made those teams successful from the 70s till date was their attacks even the fluke Lecister EPL trophy was as a result of their potent attackers (Mahrez, Okazaki, Vardy & the likes). I may agree a little with u in the sense that Greece in 2004 & Italy in 2006 were more of defense than attack but when u check the history of the WCs & Euros till date, the victorious armies has mostly favoured the attacks & France 2018 can testify to that. 2 Likes |

larride: In as much as I agree that we could do with some upgrades at the heart of the defence, the fact that we conceded the 2nd fewest number of goals nullifies Mourihno's obsession with the signature of Centrebacks like say na wetin cause our failure to win the league last season be that. larride: Mourihno would not play a high-line in defence even if he has the likes of Maldini, Nesta, Stam and Thuram as CB options. The last time he tried it, Madrid were humiliated 5-0 by a Barca side coached by.....?? your guess is as good as mine! larride: Exactly what we are saying - the acquisition of Maguire, Boateng, Chiellini, Ramos, Godin and all the CBs in the world wouldn't have any significant impact...if we are to tow the path of this valid argument in bold letters |

Hmm Seems baba is up for something oo Mourinho: “By the end of November or December you don't need words, you'll see by then which teams are candidates to win the Premier League. At the moment, words are not important. Let's play football and see by the end of November or December.” |

For your reading pleasure The suspicion of United’s hierarchy is the manager is taking a short‑term view rather than thinking more strategically about what would be better for the club in the coming years. Alderweireld will turn 30 in March and, as well as a fee reputed to be more than £50m, would have warranted a salary in the region of £25m over the next four years. United decided the player was not worth such a huge outlay, particularly given his age. Mourinho sees things differently and can argue that, without new signings, it is unrealistic to expect his team to overhaul Manchester City. He made that point in a press conference on Thursday by stating United’s second-placed finish last season, 19 points behind City, was “one of my biggest achievements in the game” Jérôme Boateng of Bayern Munich would once have appealed and Mourinho was keen on the Germany international. However, Boateng’s injury record counted against him, especially as United were mindful they had already bought two players from Bayern, Owen Hargreaves and Bastian Schweinsteiger, whose time at Old Trafford was notable for how many games they missed (MAGA UNITED ) Alexis Sánchez’s contract – £391,000 a week with an extra £75,000 for every game he plays and an annual £1.1m signing-on fee https://www.theguardian.com/football/2018/aug/09/manchester-united-veto-jose-mourinho-wishlist-cash-fears 2 Likes |

"We've seen the likes of Lindelof and Bailly be signed over the last two years - two young centre- halves that were probably thought of as coming into their prime now. Bailly I'm really impressed by but he's been injured and Lindelhof hasn't produced the form that he might have been looking for. Is that down to the player, or is that down to the environment, the tactical element of the team and the coaching that goes on? "I'm looking over at Man City and seeing what Guardiola is doing with Otamendi who didnt play anywhere near the level until Guardiola came in. Part of coaching is getting the best from your players and I need to see that from Manchester United." "Most managers don't spend the amount of money in a lifetime that he has in the last two seasons. He's been very fortunate to have been given the funds at one of the biggest clubs in the world, so I can't understand why any manager, with that backing, is ever disgruntled.
