No, I don't. Someone told me last week that the man didn't demand tip from him after the service though he had planned to do so. In any case, I learned that you can get it at the Nigerian Embassy here in Ottawa for $50.

God be praised...Collected my passports from Vfs Globals today. If you sent yours through a courier and wish to collect in person, you need to go with a means of identification (voters card, driver's licence or some other legal document that can be used to identify you), also I presented the mail sent to me by Vfs that showed my tracker number. Go to the first floor, booth 1 or 2 for collection. Don't know if I will be able to sleep this night...Can somebody get me Valium 5... grin

Another question please, my drivers licence expires this month, will the Canadian agency responsible for over seeing driving and licencing over there accept the computer printout of renewal and the expired licence pending when the new one will be sent over to one when it is ready? Thanks

I want to thank you for assisting fellow nigerians to settle down in Canada. God bless you.
I am a Nigerian trained veterinarian with a nigerian masters in food animal medicine and a UK masters degree in global health and development. I will be landing in Canada in September.
1) Please what are the cities that have good job opportunities available for veterinarians or people with my background (vet with global health ) in Canada.
2) I have an expired driver's license (2016) obtained in Nigeria. Do i have to obtain an international driver's license to facilitate my driver's license permit in Canada. If yes, how can I go about obtaining the international driver's license in Nigeria.
3) Are there any bridging programs for foreign-trained veterinarians in Canada?

No, they will not. I renewed mine but it wasn't ready before I left Nigeria. When I went for my knowledge test, the temporary licence was not accepted even with my FRSC authenticity letter, so I had to wait until my renewed one was collected on my behalf and sent down to me.

during waiting times in transit from UK to Canada will I be able to see my family at the airport can I go and meet them or them coming to meet me where I am in the airport and how will I know if I need a transit visa

A transit visa is required if you will be stepping foot out of the airport.

From my experience, we landed in Gartwick airport and connecting flight was to leave from Heathrow in a few hours time on the same day. We were stamped in with the 24hrs Visa. We then made the trip from one airport to the other on our own. So asides from the risk of missing our connecting flight, we were not restricted in our movement.

If you will not be leaving the airport, this will not apply to you as all that's needed is just to move to the next terminal within the same airport. Like Vcole earlier said, it also depends on the duration of the connecting flight.

Hello everyone. Please I have a question. We intend landing at the end of January next year. However, my driver's license is expiring ending of February. Is it possible to conclude the G2 driving test within a space of one month before my license expires? Hi everyone.

@pmag2018, i flew air canada from London to Calgary, service was really good. Westjet is usually cheapest from gatwick to major cities like Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary et al. It's a 8.5hr flight. I don't think you would have any issues. It is a buget airline, so no in flight entertainment and you may need to pay for your meal in flight if you want. In addition, you would pay for your luggage. From the UK, it'll be $/£25 for your first bag and $/£35 for the second. I've flown westjet for domestic flights as well as to Mexico. They are okay, not luxurious but would get you from point A to B without a dent in your pocket.

@sweetrie, I would advice that you obtain your drivers license before moving to Canada. Since your spouse would be commuting, it would be better for you to have a license that would allow you drive if need be. With a class 7 license here, you can't drive without a class 5 holder in the front seat. When your naija license hits the 1yr mark from date of issue, you can then take the test and apply for a class 5 basic (gdl) license.

@ everyone asking about expired licenses, your expired license would be accepted for gdl exemption as long as it is the frsc biometric one and has the required driving experience for exemption. For the person who asked about the temporary license (as long as the first issue date on it is same as the first issue date on the expired license then that's fine), personally I wouldn't bother giving them the temporary license.

The website says free baggage allowed is 2 units, then restriction is 23kg...am confused if is 23kg per unit or the two units together must not weigh more than 23kg.

Hi, it is possible to conclude the G1 and G2 within a month depending on your ability to pass them in that time. Once you present your valid Nigerian drivers licence as soon as you land and register for the G1, you wont need to present it again even if you don't get to G2 within a month. All the best.

Indeed.ca, eluta.ca, workopolis are just a few of the job search sites that can help you check various cities and determine which have the most opportunities for your field

If yes, how can I go about obtaining the international driver's license in Nigeria. International drivers licence is not required to drive or get licensed in Canada, don't bother with it. Instead, you will have to process and obtain a valid Nigerian driving licence or licence of whatever country where you are currently driving and bring with you. You can drive with your valid foreign drivers licence for 3 weeks in most provinces but the moment you present it for processing to get a Canadian licence, you can't use it in Canada anymore. You will then have to wait until a class of licence that allows you drive here
