How does drinking of a mother relates with the baby becoming a criminal? Are u sure ur head dey alright?

But, really you would have just closed your eyes to that scene, the girl was not too far from the truth.
Since they were couple according to ur further investigation and report, 2 wrongs can never be wrong na...

So if a couple are killing each other, he should overlook? Children with fetal alcohol syndrome are prone to have issues with the law. This issue you think we should overlook will bounce on the society. Instead of people learning and taking correction, instead of keeping quiet if not sure, they are supporting a clearly wrong action

It is not his problem but it is a big concern for the society.

Going by the ridiculous and ignorance filled comments I have read on this thread, I begin to imagine what the young people of nowadays learn in school.

The internet is available for all to be educated on things people know nothing about rather you people are spilling comments devoid of knowledge.

A simple Google search on the effects of alcohol on foetal development would have put the ignorance of many away.

To summarise the reason why it is his problem to be concerned, a foetus that comes in contact with constant alcohol or drug abuse is at the risk of acquiring foetal alcohol syndrome, global developmental delay, intellectual disability to mention a few.

Those diagnosed with the above have little capacity to understand some basic relational issues or some cannot even have the capacity for empathy. They are at risk of developing serious anti-social and criminal behaviours especially in a country like Nigeria where there is no government intervention plans for kids with such diagnosis.

When the kids grow up and start to exhibit anti-social behaviour you people will start calling him all kinds of name because he is becoming a nuisance and big problem to the society. At that point, you will understand that it is everybody's business to be concerned about things like this.

What you and your likes don't understand is that the problem does not necessarily manifest in physical deformity, sometimes and most times, it is the brain that is usually attacked which is the centre of all human coordination and cognition.

Alcohol consumption and abusing drugs during pregnancy are things that should be condemned from and by right thinking individuals. Little wonder pregnant ladies are usually advised to consult their GPs Even before taking something as little as Panadol.

For a prosperous society, it is everybody's business to be concerned about someone taking alcohol and abusing drugs during pregnancy

Same way someone would dump refuses in a drain and they would tell you to mind your biz. If the drains get blocked and the street/houses gets flooded they call on God and blame Govt. I think the dumbest of our youthful ilk is what you find online. Seems like there's this competition to show who's the dumbest.

Very very wrong.

"When you drink, alcohol passes from your blood through the placenta and to your baby.

A baby's liver is one of the last organs to develop and doesn't mature until the later stages of pregnancy".

Without a fully developed Liver , how would the baby break down molecules of alcohol?

U are wrong my dear. Organ formation ends in the embryonic stage prior to foetal stage where we now have organ development and maturation. Liver formation specifically starts and ends in the 5th week and it's not the last organ to form. If u review ur embryology u will understand better.

Secondly, the maternal liver does virtually all the detoxification before passing the nutrients to the foetus(not embryo) via the placenta. God bless u bro

I believe you. But he didn't mention that he advised the couple which means this gist here does not have any great pact on the first targets, the secondary targets, yes, it might anyway.

He didn't mention that he advised the couple by chance in his post which by indication, he missed his first targets of evangelism.
Then, the secondary targets have hope only if they will learn which i doubt. Cos of addiction attached to alcoholism! Don't you see that huge 'warning by the ministry of health' before you balance on your seat in beer parlours. My brother, life can never be perfect, that act was not as a result of ignorance, so they don't need mass sensitization, it was a function of lifestyle that might ruin them or still survive.

Well, it depends on frequency. If she is a chronic or acute consumer. Alcohol consumption during pregnancy isn't good and encouraged. It could lead to FAS, fetal alcoholic syndrome. It could also affect the umbilical cord by narrowing it, thereby affecting blood flows/nutrients to the baby...Under nutrition and affects the baby's weight.

Did she have a boy or a girl? They say it is 'boy' pregnancies that make you crave small stout. I used to hide mine in an opaque water bottle and sip it. The day my husband found out, I heard the story of my life!

With my daughter all I wanted was Okro. Lol! I starved in the first trimester only Sha. Hunger games started after 7mths! Oh boy! Lol
