He didn't in the midfield against Brazil though. I can now remember how Martinez changed his setup against Brazil, after his team with De bruyne in midfield was plumelled by Japanese midgets until Fellaini's physique came to the rescue but prior to the Brazil match, De bryne played in the central midfield and looked horrible throughout.

The only match where KDB didn't really shine was vs France and that was due to a tactical issue.

Kdb was deployed deeper than the normal no 10 role he often played prior to Pep's era but he wasn't deeper than David Silva. At times, you would even see Silva receiving passes from the defence whereas Kdb is tasked on building on Silva's control and offering support to Silva. Of course this role is different from his previous no 10 role.
Btw, Silva's midfield masterclass performance against Manutd 2 seasons ago still give me the chill.
