true mikel emenike mba moses omeruo in that order

I would put Onazi immediately after Emenike or MBA, way before Moses. I mean the team was there floundering until Onazi came in and steadied the ship after Ogude's ban, the fact that nobody is mentioning his name is quite shocking

yes victor moses is a super eagles legend his national team record stacks up with our all time bests. Afcon? check. went to world cup? double check. played/playing with top clubs? check. his goal record coupled with his appearances is great. if Kanu who has a poorer record in comparison to vicmo is a legend then what are we arguing about? osaze better than vicmo? i don laugh tire.

victor will be missed but the emerging talent we have coming through should tide us over

you don't have to be a fan of the man but based on his records in the GWG he deserves huge accolades

Let us break it down.

VicMo 37 appearances . I am not sure there can be a legend who didn't even get up to 50 shirts but let's leave that one aside
Bar last season Moses has been a regular bench warmer in clubs like Stoke City and West Ham. Let's city check out Osaze. West Brom's best player/Highest goal scorer for two straight seasons. Three times winner of EPL player of the month. He was a starter at Lille+top French club), starter at Stoke, starter at Lokomotiv Moscow and virtually everywhere else he has played. Does VicMo have a champions league goal to his name? I would even argue that Osaze is a West Brom legend because he is either their first or second all time highest goalscorer in a single EPL season ( I do not know if anybody has broken the record). Do you think scoring 15 goals in a single EPL season is easy? Morata hasn't managed that for a far superior team and if VicMo tells his coach that he had a dream were he scored 15 league goals in a season his coach would probably tell him to go and get some malaria drugs. On a club level, Osaze trumps Moses in and out no doubt about that at all.

National team level, Osaze was instrumental in getting us to the Round of 16 in 2014, for all the rubbish we spewed here this current crop didn't make it out of their group and Moses scored a penalty. In 2010 Osaze was instrumental in the goal we scored against Greece too. In that 2014 world cup, Osaze put in one of the most defensively assured performance a winger could put in, thanks to his training under Mark Hughes at Stoke. In fact against France Osaze should have gotten us a penalty if not for bias. Let me just act as if VicMo didn't play at the 2014 WC to avoid embarrassment. In the 2018 WC bar the match against Argentina(a penalty by the way) and that assist against Iceland what else did he do? Nothing. At the end of the day that goal against Argentina didn't get us the point we needed to qualify so Osaze still edges him.

Maybe at the AFCON we would have a case for Moses still Osaze has more AFCON goals than he does.

On a side note as well Osaze's impact as we took silver at the 2008 Olympics cannot be overemphasized at all. so I do not understand how you think Moses is or has ever been a better player than Osaze

You’ve made a good point. But truly the definition is customizable to a context. Because if we wan talk the real legends for the world of football, only few African National team players will make the cut, talk less of listing Nigerians. That word is a special word oh, but considering it’s been used for many players, there have to be some classification by grade.

Having said that, Ahmed Musa is a Super Eagles World Cup legend. Ikpeba is a Monaco legend. Kanu is an Arsenal/Ajax legend. Kanu is also an Olympic football legend, I can go on. But where will you put Moses?

Mickael2:

Personally I don't think any of the current SE players should be considered a legend. I mean we have missed three AFCONs and we are not even top of our AFCON group right about now.

To Musa specifically, AFCON 2013 he was a no-show. Yes he scored two goals at the WC but we lost that game, what does that make Osaze whose goals won us the game that actually qualified us for the second round? What about Kalu Uche who scored all our goals at the 2010 WC bar a penalty which till today I do not understand why Yakubu did not just give it to him. Are those guys legends too? Then he scored two goals against Iceland. I am not hitting on him but these are hardly legend worthy, you can say that he will be remembered but not as a legend. To make the point clearer I never watched Teslim Balogun but I knoenof him, true legend. some of these kids do not even know who Uche Okechukwu is although I grade him as one of our best defenders ever, to me he is a great player but not a legend, his name might eventually be forgotten.

Listen to your self comparing diouf and okocha

Good point. Nigeria's World Cup legend I can agree with, not totally but to a certain degree.

I can't put Moses anywhere. Nobody at Wigan remembers Moses' name so he isn't a legend there. West Ham probably erased his loan move with them, same as Liverpool. At Chelsea did anyone notice that he didn't play their last match? Or is anyone bothered about the fact that a change to a four man back line is going to relegate him to the bench? He isn't a legend there either. Four years from now this 2018 World Cup will be considered a failure, will anyone even remember Moses' name or won't they just grade him as one of the players of the SE squad that flattered to deceive? If we remember that 2013 AFCON isn't it the heroics of Sunday MBA that we recall? Moses is not a legend in any way

I am going to assume that you are just trying to be ridiculous for a funny reason because I assume you are quite intelligent and would have no problem understanding people.

I said KANU represented Arsenal's legends against Madrid legends, this is not a testimonial match where you invite players who are available, this is a legends match. Browse about the game then check the caliber of players that were invited to play then picture where KANU belongs in that hierarchy

lol you are comparing an EPL and FA winner (who played a prominent part) to someone who played for relegation strugglers all his epl career?. yes vicmo scored for chelsea in the champions league against shaktar donetsk look it.

under the osaze era we grew comfortable calling our national team chickens. with moses respect and fear of the super eagles was restored. in 12 years the mighty osaze scored 10 goals in 63 appearances victor moses for half the period 12 in 37 appearances. osaze played well got a silver in olympics i guess sadiq is also better than moses for scoring 4 goals at the rio olympics. vicmo moses kills osaze on every comparison stat so like i said before you don't have to like the man but c'mon show him some respect

During that Osaze era everybody bar none alluded to the fact that Osaze performed better for the national team than he did for his club then. During that Osaze era he was not the primary penalty taker, take away Pks from MOSES, that would mean subtracting 4(Two against Ethiopia, one against Argentina and Poland) off the top of my head and that takes his total to what? Tell me the Pks Osaze played, if he was the primary penalty taker his records would have been way way higher than that.

Please, how is Sadiq a part of this conversation?

PS: Under the Osaze era we reached the last 16 of the world cup. Under VicMo's era we have failed to qualify for how many Afcons now? Moses our best player at afcon 2013,we won the tournament if he was our best player did he get the golden or silver ball ? Na back of tv u dey watch 2013

A guy named pitroipa was given the best player despite Burkinafaso loosing the final, just the way Modric won the golden ball at the World Cup

If there was a silver ball in that tournament it will go to emenike or mikel

From what you said,I repeat my self na back of tv you dey watch

Mind you emenike scored 4 goals and did 3 assist, and you dare to say that Moses was our best player,he only scored 2 penalty against Ethiopia
Apart from the penalties, he was great in other games. Moses had a better AFCON than Mikel.

Against Guinea no doubt we missed chances but we did score two goals and with a better GK we would have qualified. Please against Egypt didn't Moses miss chances too? I can remember two off the top of my head. Didn't he play but did we even manage a goal? Ask yourself that.

Nobody chased Osaze away from West Brom, the club didn't even want him to leave which was why he had to force a move, that tells you how valued he was at the club that they didn't want to let him go. Penalty taking isn't only about who does it best, seniority comes into play. I mean do you think Moses takes better penalties than Iheanacho? Abi you think Messi takes penalties better than Rakitic? Osaze played in a period with other top dogs, nobody was taking any penalty away from Yakubu.

Finally I can see you are just throwing around false stats, please how many games did Osaze play on the WCQ for 2006? He did not play the game we lost against Angola. it was towards the end of the tournament that he started getting game time as a sub
