I was just doing a little survey of my own , though orally , and I discovered that most Nigerians do not like coupe cars?

In fact, used coupe cars are usually sold far lower than their used sibling with 4 doors for most cars although there are exceptions.

Why is this prevalent in Nigeria, especially when you do remember that coupes are usually fun to drive and in some cases have more horses to burn than their 4-door siblings?

Let's share opinions and thoughts on that.

Gazzuzz, Ikenna351, Diportivo, kingreign, Egunmogaji , nurey , valarinz and all other demeanors , please your inputs will be well appreciated.

What Coupe has more power than it's sedan version?

For me it's a matter of preference.

My 740iL would look silly in two door form while my MINI Cooper will look downright ridiculous in four door form.

The Minis now have 4-door variants.
For coupe having more power, I should have said some. My bad.

I do know it boils down to preference but it seems that a majority of Nigerians prefer 4 doors than their coupe siblings.

Like EgunMogaji mentioned, it's all about preference. i will always have a coupe as long as i have 2 or more cars. a coupe might not be practical if one has only a single car.

The Sclass has a 2door and doesn't look bad.
I guess it's all about how it's designed.
Just deleting two doors from a sedan won't make it look like a clip.

coupe cars are targeted at teens 18-25 how many Nigerian teen can afford a car at that age.

those who use the coupe are people reliving their missed youth days. once there is little demand for something the price crashes

I think I agree with this to some extent.
Just like danadam said above, coupes are usually nice looking and it won't be a bad acquisition if you have other cars with it.

friends, family and colleagues usually ask "why do like comot make i enter"
and i reply them "i just like am, its more finer in my eyes"
i also observed that most people believe that coupe owners money no reach to buy sedan that's why we are driving coupes. cheesy

MY Mini Cooper was never offered in a 4 door variant. Newer ones do come in 3 and 4 door variants.

Personally, I won't buy a Coupe.

It all boils down to culture and village people tins.
Our culture in Nigeria is communal and non-individualistic. We have a gbogbo ero mentality.

Why will I buy a car that I can't roll with my 'boys' in?

Coupes were designed for young people with small (no) family.
And yes, it caters to mid-life crisis Brosses too grin

I opine that more Nigerians prefer sedans both for economic reasons and practicality.
If you look back 15 years ago, many or our peers were single and it was hip to own a 2 door car (You and your chic or a "scrub" grin, in the passengers side)
Young couples who had a kid or two could easily put them in the back seats where no child locks were necessary.
Fast forward to present day, with grown up kids, who will be less comfortable in a cramped rear. Also for safety reasons, it is easier to get out of a sedan in an emergency.
Thirdly the transport business has become a source a livelihood for many and so coupes are not ideal.
Re: Why Do A Lot Of Nigerians Detest Coupe Cars? by Jakumo(m): 6:38am On Aug 19, 2018
I do not like coupes because it is difficult to fit any more than a dozen goats in a coupe, as opposed to a sedan which can easily accommodate up to 15 goats, in addition to several large cages full of chickens and local ducks, all destined for the market.

In short, therefore, a coupe would not be a suitable vehicular selection for entrepreneurs like me, whose cars double as cargo and freight transportation vehicles.

Wait, don't you own a CLK?

Anyways, OP, I think I'm in the perfect position to answer your question.

Coupes aren't practical here, simple.

When I wanted to buy my first car, I had my sights on a CLK, Accord Coupe, or G35 coupe. I bought a sedan at the end. No regrets, know why? A few weeks after buying my first car, I had a few friends come live with me. Not that I was richer than them or anything but I was the only one who owned a car, so my car was the means of transportation.

Let's go out an eat, in my car.
Omo, I wan go carry this babe. In my car.
Make we enter club. In my car.

Do you think a coupe would have been feasible in such situations? Imagine having to open one door to let the passengers at the back scramble out. Ah, no class. Completely ignominious. How dem wan pass take us serious like that?

And that's ignoring the fact that the rear seats in a 2x2 coupe are nominal at best, and can only seat two adults. Na just make e be say seat dey the back.

So, there, that's why no one buys a coupe.

1. A family man isn't going to spend money on a coupe. He has kids to transport.
2. The average young adult who can afford a car probably has to carry his friends once in a while.

That said, if I could afford having two cars at once, one of them would probably be a coupe. Also, if all my friends had cars, I'd probably also be driving a coupe right now. While the car is mine and mine alone, it's a bit thoughtless not to factor in people around you.

In a nutshell, the only people I can see owning a coupe are those who also own a sedan.

Sorry for any typos. I just got out of bed, and I will not be fixing them.

Memory serves you right. I still own my 2009 CLK550, but the goats generally REFUSE to enter that flagship car unless they are FORCED, which proves that goats are not equipped to appreciate a clean ride when they see one.

Ah, my favorite car on earth, right beside the Infiniti G35/37. I'm tempted to sell my current car and buy one, even if it's a 2004/2005 model.

What's ownership been like for you so far?

The Infiniti G37 is an example. 20 HP more. Plus coupes are more fun to drive. Tighter suspensions, less weight, less body roll.
