Realdeals: So, you are a financial and cost expert when it comes to metro rail construction? Iganmu to Marina means constructing a rail bridge and track over the Lagos Lagoon from Iganmu to Marina/CMS. So, as a financial and construction cost expart, please tell us how much it cost tro drill and pile from Iganmu to Marina, also the cost of labor and materials and so on. Beats me why grown adults make ignorant assertions like elementary school kids.. 11 Likes |

deomelo: Can you tell me how much has been expended so far on the project? I don't know, I just know the whole contract including the road expansion is about $600m and out of which Ambode claim to have spent 100M Euro What I also know is that out of the amount Ambode have spent so far, No rail station was built, even the piling across the Lagoon has not reached any appreciable level, the only work that was done on that project is between Ebute ero and CMS, what else? 3 Likes 1 Share |

LaudableXX: Ottawa's LRT is costing $2 billion for the first stage. Its 12.5km in Length with a project timeline of 6 years. Its way shorter than that of Lagos but a large part of it runs underground. The 2nd phase which is 11km is expected to cost $1.8 billion. So the city of Ottawa would be spending about $4B on a 24km LRT while that of Lagos is 27km. I am not saying Lagos is transparent or not inflated. 9 Likes |

I can not prove what I never asserted, you made the claims about cost so the burden is on you to sow us documented facts relating to rail cost all over the world to compare with Lagos metro rail. Do that and quit spewing rumors, gossip and flawed opinion. Stop spewing tales that you can not prove with facts. 7 Likes |

RevenGeMission: I see!!! In 2022, the technology would be obsolete, Spare parts will not be in manufacture anymore and by the time our rolling stock pile of 2 years is consumed we are back to ground zero. A good plan would have put this project in a working condition under 5 years. We simply do not want another Ajaokuta abiku mbok. 5 Likes 2 Shares |

AZeD1: Abeg, stop comparing apples with cocoyams. You just said that Ottawa's light rail is expected to run underground. This means drilling, excavation, concrete tunnels etc, would be prevalent in the Ottawa design. Did any part of the Lagos light rail run underground? How much excavation was done, down here? The Ottawa Light Rail is expected to include a 3.2km-long downtown tunnel, unlike the Lagos light rail. Secondly, the type of trains to be used for the Ottawa light rail system, are quite different from the Tokunbo models that would be deployed on the Lagos light rail system. They are brand new swanky Bombardier bullet trains or Bombardier Talent multiple unit trains, not the same type as those proposed for Lagos LRT. Thirdly, the Ottawa light rail is expected to span 6 years for the entire project, from inception to completion. Lagos light rail has been under construction for how many years again....remind me? 3 Likes |

LaudableXX: Ottawa has underground, Lagos has bridges. The fact that Lagos is taking long also adds to the cost of the project. My point is LRT's are expensive and 100M euros might not "sooooo" inflated like that. 4 Likes |

deomelo: Stop disgracing yourself, not knowing is nothing special, I'm not in that field. What I know is that $600million has been spent so far on the project out of which Ambode claim to have spent 100M Euro (i.e almost One third of the total sum) and the project is yet to cross the lagoon. Speaking on the high cost of the project compared to others in other countries, Nigeria has a country risk ratings that is way higher and this has always led to a higher cost of infrastructural and developmental project within our shores, and example is the GTL plant in escravos - Nigeria (about $10B) which almost 4 times the Qatar GTL plant (about $2B) and off course the 'Lagas light rail project. This high risk rate is as a result of the country's Political instability, falling commodity prices, central-bank policy uncertainties and conflict were the principal negative risk factors for investors to contemplate at the turn of the year, also are the investment risk of a country, such as risk of default on a bond, risk of losing direct investment, risk to global business relations alongside economic performance/projections, structural assessment, debt and Credit Ratings, access to bank finance, access to capital markets, etc. Well, with all these at play, would you as a foreign contractor not protect your company, machines/equipment, staff, finances, and all forms of investments etc with more and higher insurances, security, etc? 5 Likes |

Ambode my friend don fall my hand oh €100m for something not completed? And more to be spent? The reasons given ain't logical enough, China built rail tracks inside a rock I mean they carved it out of the rock And I don't think it costs that much For people shouting topography, you're not well grounded in this things What is gulping money isn't funding of the project but manpower from the construction company which will be lodged in top hotels, fed n escorted Why not use our own boys for a large expertise job and save cost, they'll even charge less I just can't understand 1 Like |
