Allnigeriasoccer.com can confirm a report by Correio da Manhã that Portuguese Primeira Liga side Sporting CP are interested in signing Nigeria international Aaron Samuel in the summer transfer window. The striker mutually parted ways with CSKA Moscow this week which alerted several clubs to his availability. The leadership of Sporting CP promised to recruit two strikers in the wake of their 3-1 win at Moreirense in their Primeira Liga curtain raiser last weekend and one of their targets is Aaron Samuel. Rafael Leão, Gelson Martins, Daniel Podence and Héldon are among the attack-minded players that departed he Lisbon-based club this summer and the two notable reinforcements in attack are wingers Raphinha and Nani. This website can exclusively report that Samuel could be playing in the UEFA Champions League again as Primeira Liga champs FC Porto are also chasing his services. The 24-year-old has scored 36 goals in 120 matches since he moved abroad in 2012, and has played for Vålerenga, Sarpsborg 08, Guangzhou R&F, Amkar Perm and CSKA. |

Humility017:Oga humility let's take it easy on Moses. He has done his best for Nigeria in his chosen profession and achiecved a lot which i think average football fans must appreciate but really surprised seeing gurus here trying to downplay his achievement. If i don't remember anything i remember his awesome contribution during 2018 WC qualification matches. Super eagles legend or not is debatable cos personally i don't see Kanu Nwankwo as super eagles legend but to a lot he is super eagles legend. |

Kanu is not Super Eagles legend. Modified Like I already said, I respect VicMos’s decision. And he’s been my favorite player for this current era, especially Pre-Russia. But I wouldn’t call him a SE legend. Kog45: |

Anybody who has been following joebie here knows I’m a fan of VicMo. this is how I tag legends. If you mentioned Chelsea FOR ALL TIME, what are the first few names that come to mind? Ask the same question about the Super Eagles, for all time etc. Yiu don’t need to even compare stats. Take for example Samuel Okwaraji. He may not have played in any World Cup. In truth, I don’t know him as a player, but he is extremely popular in Nigerian football. I know for one that he died serving his fatherland. That alone coupled with what he may have done for Nigeria in his playing days puts him in that legendary status. He is remembered for all time in Nigerian football. chrisooblog: 1 Like |

@Joebie, dyu know that the Nigerian way of qualifying to be a legend is just one act that makes the whole country go wow for years to come.... See likes of Yekini. For example that his first goal at the world cup is what is etched in the minds of hundreds of Nigerians. it was one act that made him Everly remembered. Many can't even remember how and when he scored his other 36goals. Aghahowa and his back flips. who can forget that too? Some see as legendary! Okocha too has that status, many in here with use analysis to say he doesn't. Finidi George Taribo West lol Peter Rufai Ike Shorunmu Oliseh's thunderous strike earned him that status.... did he have other great games like that again? On and on..... Osaze too can't be forgotten even up till now. Mikel has been around for so long that it's the length, and not the heroics, if there are many to count, that would earn him the status. Moses has such moments in 5years. Besides He reduced the the blood pressure of many retirees watching their TV sets. Lol. It's a relative term and Nigeria has its own unique definition. This settles it. European way is a Lil heroics+length of time spent playing for the team. Jens Lehman comes to mind |

FIFA can’t ban Nigeria, Giwa’s lawyer says Agency Report Premium Times Nigeria | August 16, 2018 A lawyer, Ardzard Habilla, has said that the Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) cannot ban Nigeria over the lingering leadership crisis in the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) which he added needs to be sorted out internally by the country’s judiciary. Mr Habilla, who is counsel to Chris Giwa, an NFF factional President, said this in Abuja on Thursday while addressing reporters on the threat by FIFA to ban Nigeria from all football activities following intervention by the court. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr Giwa had dragged the Pinnick-led board to court over forceful takeover of the NFF secretariat following Mr Pinnick’s emergence as president in an election conducted on September 30, 2014. The election prevented Mr Giwa who claims to have emerged as NFF president at an earlier election on August 26, 2014, from assuming office. It will be recalled that the Supreme Court had in April, set aside a 2016 judgment of the Appeal Court on the leadership tussle and sent the matter back to the Federal High Court sitting in Jos, Plateau, which had earlier mandated Mr Giwa to take over as president. Mr Habilla told reporters that the threat by FIFA was a calculated attempt to subvert the constitution of the country and an act of neocolonialism. “Do we take it that FIFA laws are superior to the judgment of the highest court in our land — the Supreme Court, and has FIFA elevated itself before the constitution of Nigeria? “When we went to Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS), it said that the issue before it is not the validity of the election, and that it is the domestic law of Nigeria that should determine the validity of an election or elections. “FIFA is bound by the decision of CAS and that is why the Giwa-led board went to court to determine the validity of those elections,” he said. “So, if CAS gave this judgment that domestic laws of a country should determine the validity of its elections, why should FIFA threaten to ban Nigeria, when this is the decision of CAS and FIFA is bound by the decision of CAS? “If FIFA is aggrieved with the decision of CAS, it has the right to go the Swiss Court to seek judicial review, so, FIFA cannot continue to play double standard. “As we speak, FIFA has never for one day heard from Giwa on this matter rather it prefers to go by the tactics of the Pinnick-led board.” He urged FIFA to purge itself of bias and respect the country’s judicial system or face another round of challenge at CAS. According to Mr Habilla, it is ironical for Mr Pinnick to accept the position of CAF Vice-President made possible after a court in Ghana sacked the country’s FA Chairman who was the then CAF Vice-President, and then, refuse to accept a court judgment in his own country. “FIFA is not supposed to interfere in domestic affairs; article 69 (2) of the NFF statutes says `domestic affairs should be determined in Nigeria and FIFA jurisdiction only comes in when it involves international disputes’. “So, FIFA cannot ban Nigeria; I challenge FIFA, if they feel they are impartial in this matter, let them come to Nigeria or invite both parties to Zurich, Switzerland; that is the rule of natural justice. “We want to know if FIFA can approbate and reprobate all at the same time. “Recall that FIFA in responding to a petition by one Barrister Leo Igbokwe, admitted that it has no powers to interfere in the internal matters of NFF, so, what has changed now? It has now assumed powers to interfere in the domestic matters of NFF,” he said. He wondered why FIFA had refused to recognise the Giwa-led board which was duly elected on August 26, 2014. “No one in Nigeria has challenged the validity of that election before NFF Electoral Appeals panel which was legally constituted by the former NFF executive committee led by Aminu Maigari. Well I have my own way of defining it. I’m not a TYPICAL Nigerian, that can swear anything out of sentiments. As regards your example, Nigeria’s golden generation were the first to take us to the World Cup. You can hardly mention Nigerian football without talking about that 94 set which was a culmination of Westehof’s building for about 5 years. IMO our most impressive players in that era will definitively make the list of Super Eagles legends, and of course together with other iconic players before their era. These names would be first names to be mentioned for a long time to come BECAUSE OF THEIR EXPLOITS IN THE GREEN WHITE GREEN. Modified Yekini was very well celebrated even before Tunisia 94. I remember as a child always hearing his name. I didn’t know him until after the World Cup lol. But yes talking about legends, let people who really followed the game and know the history speak — Iconic monikers like icon4s (pun unintended) and Kog45 daveP: |
