From my observations, I think most religious conflicts that have occurred have been borne out of the fact that we Christians feel our religion is better than others.
As a child, I lived with my Christian parents amongst my father's relatives who are Muslims. My grandfather gave all his children the choice of religion and did not discriminate. I actually attended few of their quranic classes then and found them very interesting but I was attending a church at the same time, not really seeing any difference as a child.
Religion is meant to be a beautiful thing but we humans have made it an avenue for fights, hatred and wars.
Even among Christians, some denominations feel they are more godly than others.
The simple solution is this: Let everyone worship God in his own way and just follow the rules of humanity which all centre around doing good at all times and loving one's neighbour as oneself.
