Gurus,

Why is zenith falling faster than Gt seeing that both possess almost the same quality

They’ve never been in the same category right from time na.
And moreover from each of them 52 weeks high GTB is @ - 18.16 naira while Zenith is -11.66 naira
So there’s nothing fast here let alone “faster”.. even dividend wise zenith try pass gt

My total portfolio is marginally up 2%. with little loss on caverton, -17% and fbhn -8% (although they constitute less than 10% of my holdings).
now that we all agreed this is not the time to buy. Further heavy selldown still coming... Focus on generating funds elsewhere, so you can mop up when the time is right. This is not the time to panic.. Take advantage of the market-cycle..

So you are one of those who do not want me to make 200% when the market rebound?
My enemies are members of my household.
ONEGENTLEGUY and CURRENTPRICE are unduly stubborn! grin
Stubborn shareholders at times insulate the share price e.g STANBIC, ETI, GUINNESS, JBERGER, NASCON etc....add yours... grin

Please FA buffs here. Is there a website where I can get regularly updated ttm (trailing twelve months) eps of quoted companies on the NSE. The one on Nairametrics was last updated August 2017.

Zenith has actually lost more (-34.80%) than Guaranty (-32.46%) from their respective highs.
Zenith is always ahead in terms of dividend yields, but Guaranty always rides on its bigger brand name (or supposed higher quality)
When there is serious bear and they have both been beaten down, I prefer Guaranty because:
1. Guaranty will give you higher price appreciation and also faster, and this will outweigh the difference in dividend yield
2. Guaranty is more resilient against price fall when bears show, thus providing enough room to bailout with one’s profit intact
But when the market eventually becomes stable, without any major bear in view, I prefer Zenith because:
1. Zenith offers many attractive entry and exit points, while Guaranty becomes stagnant and expensive
2. Zenith offers higher dividend yield
Summary: If we witness the likes of 2014/2015 bears, I will prefer Guaranty.

Yeah, there's something wrong somewhere (it has to do with Dangcem, whether it closed at 229.5 or 215)

Yeah exactly Zenith has lost a little more than GTB thanks for that correction but then, there’s no comparison neither in price nor quarterly reports to say one is falling faster than the other.

Cash is king, if you have not sell, better sell with little lose now and position yourself for better opportunity during January/ February bonanza period, than to experience a bigger lose when others will be experience bonanza period.

...BIG CONFUSION in the market.
Bear wants NSE ASI to be -ve while BULL prefers +ve. The bottom line is that most of the highly capitalised stocks were unchanged or marginal loss after today's trading apart from NB, UNILEVER and GT with above 1% loss. cheesy

Ø The Nigerian Stock Exchange All Share Index (NSE ASI) depreciated today by 1.71% to close at 34,663.48 points, compared with the appreciation of 1.87% recorded last Friday

Ø The depreciation recorded in the share prices of some highly capitalised companies such as Dangote Cement, Unilever, Nigerian Breweries, ETI, and Access Bank were mainly responsible for the loss recorded in the Index

Ø Similarly, the Market Capitalization depreciated by 1.71% to close at N12.65trn, compared with the appreciation of 1.87% recorded last Friday

Ø The three most actively traded stocks were UBA (42.72mn), Zenith Bank (36.66mn), and Access Bank(32.68mn)

Ø Union Homes Real Estate Investment Trust declared a dividend of N0.75 today. Additionally, Zenith Bank changed the payment date for its interim dividend because of the public holiday. Kindly click on the link below for details.
