When SAF deployed 4-3-3 on champions league nights, movements were swift and uniform, whether it was Rooney or Ronaldo or Tevez or Nani or Giggs or Park you couldn't really point out who was playing as top 9 or acting as a foil.

The system was bad over the weekend and improvements are not noticed, then maybe it will be time to make that bold move to hand over the mantle to Ryan Giggs or have him assist Zinedine Zidane and Micheal Carrick.

The problem with our front three if we were to play fluid 4-3-3 as you suggested is that Lukaka doesn't have the quality of an attacking midfielder. Another issue is the inability of Martial to operate comfortably in the middle (usually where a CAM) could be useful. Rashford is even worse, he just like to run directly with the ball and only cut back when he gets to the line.

So the passing, build up and general play will always be disjointed.

Mata who doesn't have the legs to run fast is the one still trying to help with a good attacking build up with passes. We could have gotten Mahrez to play from the right. Martial and Lukaku should have been fighting for the number 9. Sanchez from the left.

Martial started the number 9 well under Gaal, but later showed he was not very good. He became better on the left. I think however if we want a fluid front three, we should sometimes use Martial in the middle.

At Everton, there were games (especially vs top sides) where Lukaku was deployed on the RW and his performances were relatively impressive

I think we should start using two strikers, any of sanchez or martial paired with lukaku since our attackers are doing bad as wing forwards, we should switch to 4 3 1 2. Lingard should always start for us.
