Nigeria have won the race for the international future of Hamburg teen sensation Jonas David Jonas has pledged his international future to Nigeria ahead of Germany, Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

‎18 year old Jonas came to prominence with his performance for the U19s of Hamburg last season when they beat all comers to lift the U19 Bundesliga.

Already he has made the step up to the main team and played in their pre season friendly against Bayern Munich, where he was listed among the best performers for the recently relegated Hamburg.

Born in Germany to a German mother and a Nigerian father, his international future was chronicled by the media in Germany after his performance against Bayern Munich as he is eligible to represent Nigeria and Germany.

Strong, tall and imposing, the defensive midfielder who can also play upfront has waived aside talks of playing for Germany as he is fully focused on playing for Nigeria.

” Jonas is very committed to Nigeria. There are talks about a call up to the German team but he is focused on representing Nigeria. Hopefully he will get his wish”, a member of his representatives Football Transfer Company Labib Rabiu Yarima told Owngoalnigeria.com.

” The Super Eagles is a bit sudden for him but the chance to play for the U20s or U23s is a possibility if he is invited. The rise in the career of Leon Balogun after declaring for Nigeria played a role, I must confess”, he concluded.

i love this!

The assistant captain of the Super Eagles of Nigeria Ogenyi Onazi is presently not in the list of players in contention to feature for Nigeria against Seychelles in the 2019 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers , Owngoalnigeria.com can exclusively reveal.

Barring any last minute change to the team, the Trabzonspor midfielder is likely going to miss the game with coach Gernot Rohr set to try other options in midfield, hence his decision to leave Onazi out of the list of players which will be released tomorrow for the Seychelles game.

Onazi lost his spot in the team shortly before the World Cup 2018 in Russia and at the tournament proper he didn’t get to play any minute for Nigeria in the three group games before they crashed out of the tournament.

Last weekend he was on for the entire duration of Trabzonspor’s 3-1 win over Sivasspor in the Turkish Super Lig. His second league game of the season after playing in their first league game which they lost 0-2 against Istanbul Basaksehir.

This kid (Jonas David), Nnamdi Oforburh, Kingsley Michael, Afeez Aremu and co will provide us very keen competition in that U-20 midfield I must say.
Hopefully Aigbogun takes note.

lol....i'm not questioning his stamina. He's cute, but he looks more like a surfer or something cheesy

I would have said Aigbogun should call him up to the U20 team, but Ajebo like him will face serious bullying in that camp from all those old layers Aigbogun gathered as well as Aigbogun himself, Nigerian coaches have PHD in hating on those whose palm nuts have been cracked by the gods.

For his sake, let him wait a little, maybe for U23, he can be called up. At least some players in the U23 team will have international exposure and he will fit in more with them

If Rohr over looks proven players like Anyanwu Billing and Ebere Eze for an Academy player like KC Nwakali as a back up/repp to Mikel, I would lead the campaign to demand for his sack letter.
