TheSuperNerd:This reminds me of the situation at Utrecht last season when Dessers keep scores anytime he comes off the bench. Yet the coach refuses to start him. Some players just do better coming off the bench. Nigeria too once had such-Sanni Emmanuel. He underperformed in the only game he started and that was in the Final of the u-17 World Cup which costed the whole team victory... Their type are better utilized as a super sub.

TheLoneCitizen: According to you you don't need to be outstanding in your club and or lower league to make progression. That proposition makes a mockery of intelligence and enthrones MEDIOCRITY. Ndidi was the OUTSTANDING player in the Belguim league in his position, without dispute. He was not speculative potential yet to be seen as quality Richarlison was an outstanding player for Watford in the EPL last season. That consistent performances has seen him rise upwardly and now at Everton. So you assertion is MISINFORMATION. Please humble yourself and go backwards to when Zaha was arguably the most outstanding player as a teenager at Crystal Palace in the Championship. This guy almost single handedly took on Manchester United in the FA Cup. A horrendous season with a clueless manager David Moyes. Almost sent him to the psychiatric hospital. However, a return to Crystal Palace has seen him celebrated as the best winger in EPL. He has chosen to stay at Crystal despite multiple offers home and abroad. Maybe the £130k a week persuaded him, o don't know. Adi and Nawakame tick no boxes. The basis for selection must be outstanding consistent top class performances. Not speculative lottery with the SE. The SE is for proven players not speculative assumption of possible quality. You can not be mouse in Warri then turn Lion when you reach Lagos. 2 Likes |

ChrisKels: Very Rare. But on this occasion I agree with you with Reservation. But will add SACK too premature. Have no doubt, forget the public rhetoric. Rohr does not choose the team entirely by himself, there are other influences. |

Ighalo is likely to miss out after reports of discussion between him and the coach to leave him out for now in Ighalo's best interests. If this is so then i think it will be down to his WC showing in that Argentina game. This will be interesting following Ighalo's fine form in China... Hmmm.. #CountdownToFridayListRelease 1 Like |

Ayo Simon Okosun came off the bench and scored for FC Midtjylland in their first leg away game in the UEFA Europa Final Playoffs round. Frank Onyeka also picked up an assist. Ever Paul Onuachu also played and lasted 64 mins. Was subbed for Ayo Simon who went on to score as they came from 2 goals down to draw Malmo FF 2-2. 1 Like |

komekn: Let's equate your criterion in parity with Anthony and Fanendo. In 2017, Anthony won the ISREALI Best player trophy, that is not outstanding I believe. He has scored 10+ goals in the last 3 seasons, that is not outstanding I believe. He has won the league consecutively, that is not outstanding, I believe. Fanendo has scored 54 goals in 126 appearance. He has notched consecutive 16-goals seasons. He is one of the few players in the MLS who can be payed outside the normal wage cap. These feats are not outstanding I believe. You've opened a new can of worms by stating we need proven players, brother, John Ogu, proven? Ola Aina, proven? Etebo proven? Mikel Agu, proven? No way. When I stated Richarlison, I meant his stay at Fluminise, he was in no way outstanding but full of potential. Yes, Zaha was an outstanding player but Ndidi was in no way the best in his position at that time, his call to fame was the volley that won goal of the Belgian league season. 2 Likes |

Kalu Samuel played 15 mins as sub in Bordeaux's 0-0 first leg away draw with Awoniyi's Gent in the UEFA Europa league final playoffs round. Awoniyi lasted for 75 mins and was replaced by his usual mate, Jonathan David but there was to be no goal magic from the super sub today. Second leg will be played on August 30 (next week Thursday) to decide the final batch of qualifiers for the group stage proper of the UEL. 2 Likes |

TheLoneCitizen: Your approach to the discourse is at fault. Firstly, you should present the facts for consideration and to inform. However, the question is raised how good is he ![]() He goes to the MLS and has been for the past 4+ years. The impression you give he is the top striker there, but he is not. According to eurosport.com he is ranked no 29 for the 2017 season and is not ranked in the 2018 season. Is that your definition of Outstanding, striker ranked no 29 in a league ![]() ![]() I could go on when players are more or less finished in Europe top Leagues they go to the MLS to become ballers. I mean Drogba at 38 scored a hat-trick on his debut. Which regards to Nawakame he was given a chance in the SE but was totally unimpressive. You could argue for more chances, but in football sometimes you get one chance to impress. Compared to the players you have mentioned. I would say Ogu is tested and proven, I am not saying he is exceptional just satisfactory. Ola Aina is a Chelsea player getting into the Chelsea team is a feat in itself. He went on loan and very quickly won MOTM awards and hailed as the best RB in the championship. If that's not proven and tested, tell me what is ![]() ![]() Etebo has been a stand out performer for his club in Portugal and then his brief time in La Liga. He has come to the Championship and he is still finding his feet. It will take him time to adjust. The physicality and intensity of the Championship is not for every player. Nonetheless, Etebo has been a stand out player in the SE and Olympic team for quite some time. It is not in dispute.his quality past and present. Mikel Agu I have reservations about but I will leave others to expand on that. 2 Likes |

Icon4s: He played only one game, brother. That game against Algeria was a friendly, nothing to play for except for Algeria to keep their dignity. How do you define "blew it away" on the strength of one game, when you've given Ighalo countless unyielding opportunities? |
Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2023, 2025 And 2026 World Cup by TheLoneCitizen(m): 9:04am On Aug 24, 2018 |
komekn: Brother, you're setting double standards here. I saw this verdict on Anthony's only game for Nigeria, “Nwakaeme made a great debut, especially in such a pressure game where he was isolated up front. To play your first start, perform like that was great for him and the team, and I think the coach will be pleased.” I didn't watch the game myself. How would you know John Ogu is tested, if he hadn't been given a chance? Ogu spent 4 years of his career in the same club as Anthony. Mind you, brother, Fanendo was ranked 29th on the basis of goals coring not performance. Giroud was ranked 37th for the premier league by eurosports, too. You need to see the number of MOTM Awards Akinfewa has garnered over the years, so he is worth a try based on that benchmark. Wayne Rooney, a constant scorer of goals, had bad seasons. In his last 53 game (2 seasons) for United, he scored 13 goals. Adi's had a poor start to 2018, so has moved to another club. You stated he played in obscure leagues for 5+ years, how is this possible? He signed for the MLS side at he age of 24, he is now 27. When Drogba was 24, he was playing for Guingamp, it was at 26 he signed for Chelsea. I appreciate your time. 2 Likes |

Glad to see Semilogo Ajayi of Rotherham Utd called up. He's been impressive so far in the championship. Hopefully first of many more call-ups to follow for him. Not surprised to see K.Nwakali. Rohr had obviously made up his mind to cap the lad after Russia 2018 immediately after that showing against Atletico madrid witnessed live by Rohr himself. Rohr saw enough. I tip him to stand in for Mikel if given a chance. Meanwhile, who is Jamiu Collins? No one is asking about that even? Or is it a player I know but is using another first name? As expected, Ola Aina and Onyekuru return. Kalu called up. Fair list. And Ighalo and Musa make it too. See? I told Sir Tbaba they will be called up. It was inevitable. 5 Likes 1 Share |
