People are funny sha. You all seem to forget his son is almost 10 years or older. How many 10 year olds want to be cuddled or kissed by their parents at that age? Most of them find it gross, as they are beginning to hit puberty
The boy also enjoyed same cuddles when he was younger, and he's now a big boy. He spends alone time with his dad, and they even dance together and try to do "manly" things together other than hugs and kisses.
The boy probably feels his sister is still a baby, and he's the big boy. He knows to look after his sister.
