In Nigeria, the internal security of the state is widely regarded as one of the key indicators of a successful administration. The present administration had promised to put an end to the boko haram insurgent. They are still battling with it and the herdsmen invasion is rearing its ugly head. President Goodluck Jonathan spent many years in taming the militants in south-south Nigeria.

In this post, we shall highlight the top 5 most peaceful States in Nigeria. In case you are looking for a state with a low rate of ethnic wars, political wars and insurgency, then this post will be of great help for you.

#1. The FCT, Abuja

Abuja is the core of politics in Nigeria. All the top politicians are resident in Abuja and the internal security in Abuja is High. Since the Abuja bomb blast in 2014, there have not been any serious insurgent attack in the city of Abuja. The neighbouring state like Kogi, Nasarawa are all battling with serious herdsmen invasion while Abuja has been able to dispel serious security threats. Indeed, the FCT is one of the most peaceful States in Nigeria.

#2 Kebbi state

The rate of Political, religious and inter tribal wars are very low in kebbi. They don’t make the headlines for security issues. Kebbi is one of the most peaceful state in Nigeria. Governor Rocha’s Okorocha of Imo state once stated that Kebbi is the most peaceful state in the history of Nigeria. The statement is a testament of the fact that kebbi state is devoid of all forms of insurgency and other peace and security threats.

#3 Sokoto state

Sokoto state is situated in the North western region of Nigeria. Almost all the states around sokoto are struggling with serious security issues but sokoto has always remained unsoiled and unaffected by violence. Sokoto state is devoid of terrorism, herdsmen invasion, book haram insurgence and militants. Though there are some armed robbery incidents but they are not serious enough to affect the general peace of the state. Sokoto state is one of the most peaceful States in Nigeria.

#4 Akwa Ibom

Akwa Ibom has little or no record of religious wars. The state is dominated by Christians and is on most of the good lists in recent times. Akwa Ibom are known to be hospitable and welcoming to people from other tribes. Other tribes reside peacefully in Akwa Ibom with no worries of being attacked. During the peak of militancy, Akwa Ibom was among the south south states with the least number of militants and it remains one of the most peaceful states in Nigeria.

#5 Ebonyi state

The fact that Ebonyi state is among the most peaceful states in Nigeria is unarguable. Security threatening issues are very low in Ebonyi state. Cases of Suicide bombing, cult clashes, herdsmen invasion, book haram, religious wars and militancy are all very low in Ebonyi state.

Ebonyi records one of the lowest cases of ritual killings. Ebonyi is known to be very hospitable to strangers. People from other ethnic groups are bound to reside peacefully in Ebonyi state.
