Plz where can I get affidavit of support there in nigeria
And what are the documents need to get it or the procedure?

There are no special requirement before you can acquire an affidavit. Simply walk into any federal high court close to you and request for an affidavit of support and it will be issued to you without hassles. It can cost you 500-1k in naira.

I just started my university hunt for Jan intake..
I filled a pre-qualification form for university of Sask as required. I intend to study master in Civil engineering. I hope I'm doing the right thing.
Gurus you can guide me through if I'm missing out and also how long will I expect their go ahead mail for admission.

Not a dumb question at all
Just that it’s a little bit late for Jan intake dats is if you haven’t yet applied just saying cos of visa
But with God all things are possible
Would advise you though not to put your eggs in one basket try other schools too
Since your going fo a research based course you need to mail professors and get their approval
To enable beat time and not wait for the pre qualiffication thingy .

It’s like a normal affidavit just type and get it signed by the high court

I have answer for your 1st question, for the 2nd and 3rd I might make some suggestions.

1. Since you have full scholarship for PhD you, your dad who is a prof can show his statement however small and you too should show your statement however small, I believe you are currently working. Also you must show home tie in form of land, or study leave from a University or wife & kids. Your dad should write a very strong support letter in case the funding runs out that he will support you greatly.

2. You need at least money to take care of your 1st month rent and at least tuition for 2 terms. This will give you soft landing. Because fund for 1st month you may take some time to show into your account due to logistic reasons. Others can also make input. But I seriously advise you to either come with money for two terms tuition payments or at least money for rent and feeding for 6 to 8 months. Which University are you going to? There are Nigerians in every University. The international office can help link you to Nigerians or check for Nigerian graduate students from the website of the school or department you are going to link up with them to help arrange accommodations before you come in.

3. The public figure must show evidence and reason for support. It is easier when they are related but if they are not and they are just friends then affidavit of support and sponsorship will suffice. Many more documents hard to please the VO in this case. So it requires lots of documentation.

Thank you for taking your time to answer my questions. As for the question you asked, it is University of Alberta in Edmonton.

For the issue of sponsorship, if my supervisor, who is a Nigerian Professor at the University I gained admission, offers to sponsor or co-sponsor me as a Canadian permanent resident, will it be advantageous to my application? I'm asking this because I have a good rapport with the man and he's even from the same ethnic group as me. If I ask him to support me for official purposes, he will.

Thanks for the tips on budget too. I can sort all those, I believe, before leaving Nigeria. My supervisor will also accommodate me for the first few weeks before I get my own place.

If you can dish out the right sponsorship letter for him it will def add to your application.
Stating mentorship purposes and also if your research field aligns with his the better

To be very honest with you, it's quite late bro. Cos 1.you might get the go ahead to apply mail early but the real application process takes at least 5 to 9weeks depending on the supervisors and the volume of applications. 2. Let's say you finally secured the admission, visa processing is another long waiting process. You can apply and defer if you have limited time.

You do not need IELTS or TOEFL for any of the three colleges you requested info for. For Cambrian, Seneca, and Centennial, please prepare the following on ground:

1. Application fee ($200 for Centennial; free for Cambrian, $95 for Seneca)

2. Passport Data page.

3. Degree Certificate.

4. Transcript.

5. Curriculum Vitae

6. Affidavit if there is (or are) any discrepancy on your degree cert. Say DOB or order in which your name was printed.

7. WAEC certificate plus scratch card (applicable only to Cambrian).

8. Ability to read and fill simple form online.

Will it be okay to write in my sop that after my PGD, I will go straight to masters because doing PGD alone might not make sense to the vo. House please help me on this one
Re: Canadian Student Visa Thread Part 14 by dedecoder: 8:12pm On Aug 24, 2018
My sincere apologies for responding late.

There is no section in the form where you are asked the grade or class you graduated with but in your SOP, you would have to touch on the reason you are settling for a PGD instead of master's.

What I am saying is that you should resist the temptation of saying you would have gone for master's if not for your 2.2. That can create some concerns in the VOs mind. ("Can" emphasised).

Simply tow the less complicated line of arguing that PGD training offered in Colleges are more project-focused and detailed in practical... (You get what I mean now?).

Getting a master's with a 2.2 is not completely impossible but you would have gotten 5 PGD offers before getting one.

Shalom!

edmasta01:

Wow! Thanks so much for your detailed explanation dedecoder! I sincerely appreciate you for taking the time to write this out. Respect! You are right about prayers. Its super important too.

In your last sentence, you mentioned to "never use 2.2. as an argument for settling for PGD. Are you saing this in regards to when filling out documentation to be submitted to the VO?

Or do you mean that with a 2.2, it's possible to apply for a masters degree?

Carleton University is among the three universities I'm looking at.

But I don't think they have begun or opened their new applications for next year fall admission until early October of this year.

Or are you planning to resume in this year Fall Term?

Let him pay your tuition fee and transfer your living expenses into your personal account, then write a letter of support stating why he is sponsoring you and his relationship with you. He should also state the number of dependants he has(wife, children etc).
Concerning his own statement of account, I am afraid he will have to give it to you so you can add it with other documents to submit. CIC will like to see his statement of account to know if he will be able to sponsor you beyond the first year of your program. Also let him show his source of fund(how he makes his money), of he is a civil servant let him show his employment letter and payslip or if he owns business he should give you copy of his CAC papers... anything to show how he earns money will do.

You have to choose one bro/sis. If visa officer gets any slightest idea that you don't want to go back after studies, you will be denied visa scholarship or no scholarship. Take it one step at a time. Think of PR when you have entered Canada and started your studies for now focus on getting study visa. If the Prof. will act as cosponsor - good but don't give impression in the letter of support that he will also sponsor your PR and don't also give impressions that he will be housing you in any way. It will be a strong application if he will show evidence of cosponsporship and state that he will ensure you have a soft start for your studies.

But on a more serious note you don't need a cosponsor since you have full scholarship. Just like I advised initially your dad and your statement with the funding letter is more than enough irrespective of the amount in those accounts, provided it shows credit and debit history.

What course did you choose and how does it relate to your background course? What funding did you show? Do you gave work experience in the course? Post the answers and more detail about your application. Then we can make attempt to answer.
