You're wrong. Some movies don't even deserve to be rated 2/10.

Sure. You can rate a movie 1/10 and still be well within the fringes of ratiocination. However, rating a movie -2/10... well, that's madness. You can't grade someone's paper with a -F, can you? F is enough. Anything beyond that is illogical.

One of my best movie this year is FOREVER MY GIRL. If am to rate it I will give it 8/10 while the over hyped Deadpool 2 is the worst I have watched this year. I will give it - 2/10.

So we need to chill sometimes, recommend movies, rate it and don't critize other for not liking what you don't. smiley

There is an exception or limit to every rule. Yes, we are all allowed to have our subjective opinions. Rating movies can be subjective.

The exception to allowing people to have opinions is that there are opinions that are quite insane. Opinions that cannot be defended and have no basis in reality

When you go to IMDB movie reviews, you see that people give reasons for their reviews and also, there is a voting mechanism to show how helpful a review is to other people.

So, please, kindly rethink of your review/rating of deadpool. If people here were to vote on how useful your review is, would it be voted as useful? Can you find any logical way of defending your review that would not make you look funny?

Honestly, a 4/10 to 9/10 rating for deadpool 2 (average to great) would be okay to defend. But -2/10? If you hated the movie so much, why did you go and watch it (we all knew what the deadpool movies are about before going to watch it)?

Like I said once upon a time...

KoiceReloaded:

See, the problem with "everyone is entitled to their opinion" is that all too often, it’s used to shelter beliefs that should have been abandoned. It becomes shorthand for "I can say and think whatever I like, so don't disrespect me"

An opinion by definition is a view/judgement about something, thus, an opinion has attached to it a certain degree of subjectivity. Using it as a defense only works in certain situations.

For instance, there is no way you can argue with me if I were of the opinion that Jackie Chan is a shitty actor. You might be of a different opinion, but since my opinion is based on subjectivity, I'm allowed to stick to it. But you have all the right to argue with me if I were of the opinion that Titanic didn't happen, since there is overwhelming pop-culture references and documentations to show there is practically no subjectivity in my "opinion" that Titanic never happened. It's a straightup fallacy. I don't know if you understand where I'm going with this.

If everyone is entitled to their opinion is to infer that no one has the right to stop people thinking and saying whatever they want, then we are royally f**ked as a civilization.

Bottom line, you entitled to have an opinion, but only as long as you're able to reasonably argue for it with evidence. Argue critically, criticize rationally, and with evidence. Thank you.

I somehow missed that your quoted post. It is nothing but the truth.

It is why I like IMDB reviews or even Amazon reviews- most reviewers usually put a reason for their ratings and furthermore, the reviews are then voted upon (to rank the helpfulness of the review). In short, if your review is nonsensical, it wouldnt be voted as helpful.

By the way, I just watched "Upgrade" again.

I just love the movie. It is just simple and entertaining. 7/10

I think the reason why people here preferred this movie to Annihilation is that Annihilation is a more complex sci-fi movie. I dont expect people who cannot even understand Deadpool to understand Annihilation.

Skyscraper.. 5/10
Genre: Action SciFi

The movie would have gotten more ratings if not for some of its unrealistic scenes.
SPOILER ALERT

OK, this particular scene were Dwayne Johnson jumps from the crane into the building really got me infuriated. That scene was very unrealistic even for a SciFi movie, this is a man with a parasitic limp, weighting at least 118kg, running through half of the crane length & taking the following into consideration:
1)The impact his 118kg body weight would have on the jump.
2)The distance btw the crane & the building.
3) The wind speed at that height
4) His parasitic limp slowing down his rate of acceleration...with all this parameters, he was able to make that jump, Hmm!! who are they kidding. Even those skillful hadcore parkour jumpers wouldn't make half that jump @ that height

Secondly, him scaling that wall at the 220th floor with nothing more than a duct tape & feeling very comfortable while performing the act was very unrealistic. I could remember when Tom cruise performed similar feat in GHOST PROTOCOL on 161th floor of the Burj khalifa building, he didn't do so with ease even with all his advanced gear, then someone performs a even greater feat, with nothing more than a rope and duct tape at that particular height, feeling at ease & more comfortable as ever..Hmm!!!, I give up.

Lol.. My bro it's not like that oo, for me, i kinda appreciate how real death defying stunt scenes of a movie are, irrespective of the CGI used.Take the mission impossible sequels for instance, some of the stunts performed there, to a reasonable extent appear real and are somewhat verifiable, that to me is a big plus for a movie irrespective of its genre.

Oceans 8. 6/10.

With all the negative reviews I read prior to watching the movie, I'm surprised I ended up not disliking the movie. It's an okay movie even though it pales in comparison to its male counterparts. Even RiRi wasn't bad with her acting as well, she wasn't great either. It's understandable because her character was kinda laid back and didn't need to be active.

Now, that's what I'm talking about! A rating backed by a well laid out analysis. Bravo.

You forgot the worst plothole of the lot, though. In fact, the plot of the whole movie hinged on a huge plothole. Check this out: the villain's gang wanted to obtain a tablet that would allow them gain admin access to the building. The tablet can only be unlocked via facial recognition, and was keyed ONLY to Dwayne's face. Much later, the hot asian girl on finally forcefully acquiring the tablet from Dwayne, proceeded to unlock it by holding it up to his face. Pretty straightforward, right? So what's the problem?

Here's the kicker... the plot hiccup: The villain's gang stole the backpack that is supposed to house the tablet earlier in the movie, remember? So why go through the trouble of attempting to steal the tablet, when without Dwayne to unlock it, the tablet would have been useless anyhow?

This gigantic plot blunder ruined the movie for me, after which I gave it a 4, only because I'm a generous grader.
