I don't understand something, when did this programme start? If the is answer is "is bn on for a while" then why the publicity now when it's few months away to election!! My point is we will NEVER learn in this country Infact we deserve every hardship melted against us, shior, smh

Its called setting the record. It is important for those that believe in this govt to make public what the govt is doing just as some ppl are determined not to see any good in the govt that have identified with the masses more than any other govt...

They are also being introduced to other government empowerment programs like TRADERMONI, MARKETMONI, FARMERSMONI which are collateral free loans to help them become self reliant and help lift them out of poverty levels .

This 5k is to cushion the effect during this period until they are able to stand on their own

God bless you for taking your time to explain all these to people... even though some people will hate regardless.

This program has consistently been going on since last year and over 600,000 and counting have benefited from this social welfare program so far.

There is no social welfare anywhere that takes full care of its citizens. If it were so then why would the citizens bother to work.

Social welfare is just to enable them get by for a time

Their social security systems are sustainable, their economy is robust and jobs are being created daily. Nigeria is doing this today because the money is awuf as it were (abacha's loot) its almost impossible for someone in those countries to keep collecting the government's hand out for 5 years without getting a job. I'd rather we invest this money on human capital development in the rural areas or devote it to growing msmes (medium and small scale enterprises. .this is just a case of giving someone fish instead of teaching him how to fish

There are generations of single families that have been on benefits and would continue to do so in the UK.

We have had successive governments that have made billionaires with no factories and private jet owners without enterprise.

You are appalled by the poorest in our society receiving 5000 Naira monthly and I ask what you want to do for them or with them?

Do these old people look like society has ever cared for them?

Can you propose what should be done to take care of them or are you suggesting they do not matter?

Here are some Beneficiaries of the PMB social investment program in Oyo state receiving their own 5,000 conditional cash transfer.

No government has ever embarked on social security programs in Nigeria.

PMB leads others follow.

Tears of joy as I type this. For the first time ever in Nigeria thousands of people are being paid social benefits that one criminal stole only for himself. Never in our future will we allow the leftist thugs that call themselves politicians steal our commonwealth. As for people making the mistakes of 2015, insults do not win elections. Criticize with superior argument.

This social Investment program as well as the others I listed are the brainchild of the VP and they have already started implementing it NATIONWIDE and there are already over 300k beneficiaries from all over Nigeria.

Poverty was caused by years of mismanagement of our resources.

This gesture of the government which is taking what the rich should have looted and putting it into the hands of the poor shows the commitment this government has to minimize poverty levels

I see ...and how do they determine the poor
Is there a meter that screams poor poor poor when people pass
Or how do they measure the poor
I thought it was suppose to through an account and should be monthly
Is this how u guys will go round Nigeria every month to deliver the money
Cos this seems like some random picking of people
Stand and snap
Collect 5k

Because in rural areas they manufacturer things abi. The last time I was in Nigeria, I was in Rural Ekiti, went for burial. 5000 naira can not feed a family of 3 or 4 for more than a week. It's a fact in all rural places in Nigeria. That's assuming they still farm some of their food items. If they don't farm it won't last more than 3 days.

It shows you don't know anything about Nigeria.....Even if 5k feeds a family of 4 for a week, is that not something?

Did u even know how many people cannot feed just for a day? Go to those people, and tell them 5k is nothing, in d same Ekiti u referencing, not even in rural areas o, we've seen people queuing for a cup of rice, and
items less than 1k..pls gerraheremehn

PMB cannot work alone.

I listened to Pastor TD Jakes one time as he preached a message. He said, "sometimes you need to work with your enemies in order to achieve your goal" .

He also said, " ideas may vary but never forget, that your enemy may share the same desire as you do regarding the bigger picture so never discard them. They are part of those God sends to help you climb".

I doubt PMB would be that rash. His vision for Nigeria is bigger than such distractions. If the Judiciary decides to wake up and do the right thing, then so be it but I don't see PMB deliberately interfering with the Judiciary

OK but he should work with Saraki and Atiku. Tap in their ideas and stop all these witch-hunting. The nation needs all qualified hands on deck.

Am not saying they do not matter neither am I saying they should be neglected.my point is giving them a one time or an unsustainable handouts of 5k will not solve their problems.
What happened to building their capacity?
Since most of them are in the rural areas, why can't the government train them on better agricultural practices and give them farm input.i think this will be more sustainable and can give them a sound launch pad out of poverty forever.Giving them 5k/month, which will soon end will only make them lazier.

Waawuuu !!! you are a serious disappointment, disgrace and disservice to that degree. Social welfare intervention is practiced around the world, its not for people to start living a wonderful life, but a source of income to the extremely poor people who could in turn plan on that little for feeding and up keeping whist they find more stable source to boost their poverty level. 5k a month is alot to many people if you dont know what damage has been done to this country in the past 16 years of looters and we can only improve on that initiatives.

Dont be driven by the hate in you, i cant feel it flowing in your vain for Buhari

I like the way you are responding. Please tell the BMC's co-ordinators to talk to talk to some members about the way they respond, they are driving people away. Back to our discussion, what you said is true but let him show he is ready to work with them again and fire anyone who tries to sabotage his plans. He has some evil ones in his government.
