MIKOLOWISKA: I beg to disagree with the 3million surviving on oil, because as at today the major Forex earner for Nigeria is Oil, and without Dollar we can't buy, drugs, cars, electronics, machinery, industrial raw materials in fact we can't by buy anything. Again we survived without oil because almost 80% of Nigerians then were producers of something (mostly cash crops) and we have multiple streams of forex. nigerians of today are almost 70% consumers rather than producers hence our total reliance on oil forex to buy everything from China and Europe. Then again if you are to be honest and look around from our electricity generation to our rural roads, its oil money. 6 Likes |

otosa: Truth is, even if you restructure the country, with useless leaders at the helm of affairs, there won't be any development, take a look at Bayelsa, even with her huge allocation, nothing to show for it, their leaders keep looting their common wealth. Corruption is the root cause of our problems, We have no working refineries today because the power that be won't let anything function reason being that they rake in millions from fuel importation and Subsidy. We flare enough gas in Nigeria to power 4 gas turbines, thereby solving our power problems, but every administration seems clueless about the issue on ground, worst is the billions being budgeted for this same issue every year, nobody is sincere, they just want to loot till we have nothing. I can go on and on, if you look at most of our major problems, it all boils down to one major thing, corruption, if you restructure the country without looking at how to curb corruption, then there won't be any difference, just that some leaders and governors will have more to loot. Simply put, the leaders of this country are evil, the people are worst, we aid criminals. 9 Likes 1 Share |

dometome: Can you compare the level of corruption in both countries?, it's like you have no idea of what's going on in Nigeria, no society can function with the level of corruption in Nigeria. Almost Every where you go in Nigeria, all you see is uncompleted projects, in most cases they have made budget for that project for like two times, they just do little and loot the remaining cash, Lagos State started their Bullet train project some years back along some African countries, most of these countries have completed theirs but Lagos is still at the initial stage. Restructure the country anyhow you like, with the crop of politicians we have now, I don't think we'll be able to achieve any meaningful thing. 2 Likes |

At the height of the IPOB agitation, the Northerners were begining to agree that Nigeria should be restructured. What a lot of clueless Southerners who supported operation Python dance and the prosciption of IPOB don't know is that they were celebrating the death of restructuring 8 Likes |

No state without mineral resources, your assertion is based on oil revenue alone.uote author=iammo post=70617771]the reasons the elites would not try talk about it is because of resource control, every other issue like state police is possible. in southwest ; only Lagos and Ogun is economically viable, in south south; only Edo, Delta and Rivers, in North Central Only kwara, Non in North west,North East and South East. according to Economic development Magzine. this simply means the day you stop giving out federal allocation from crude oil says to these states, the system automatically collapse, teachers won't get paid and public schools would close down, similarly doctors, judicial staffs, prison workers, and all state and local government staffs. the royal fathers and kings also survive on the share of the local government allocation from abuja. without allocation how will osun and ekiti pay its external debt, not to talk of paying salary or maintaining infrastructure. I wonder were some region would get forex from to take to China, if the major forex earner is oil, Venezuela's case would be better than some region, while some region would instantly become new Dubai of africa[/quote] |

We all should be clamoring for regionalism!! That is the only solution, more power to regions and a weak center! I used to think the North would be the poorest but I have come to realize that they are actually one of the richest regions if utilized. With their resources and Agriculture, they would be very rich! Regionalism or nothing!! 2 Likes |

I remember when people both online and offline used to say “ oh why don’t Nnamdi Kanu go for restructuring” They were screaming restructuring every time IPOB issue came up. The moment IPOB members were killed and their leader either killed or kidnaped, those characters didn’t talk about restructuring anymore. This is Nigeria. 6 Likes |

There's never been a day in Nigeria history have Nigeria depended on North for it's wealth. The reason restructuring was gaining ground and came into discussion by Afonjas was because of Nnamdi Kani and Ipob. If the Yoruba elites were serious about it, they wouldn't have gone mute the second Nnamdi was abducted. It says alot about the worthlessness or that thing una call a country. I truly pity you people that still lives in that place. 11 Likes |
