This is exactly what I was thinking this afternoon. We have been talking for too long. Posting pictures and fine- fine houses here will not solve anything on ground. When do we start acting?

When we had the Ipob crises, Ohaneze set up some Igboland Development group.

Who knows what has become of it?
Do they have even a website?

I think a lot of normally intelligent people are taking an alarmingly casual attitude to the unfolding disaster called Nigeria.

The population is due to double again with the next 30 years. Apart from the fact that most our inland oil fields are depleting very quickly, oil is fast losing its global primacy as an energy source. You only need to imagine the effects of this on government revenue.

I don’t even want to talk about the fact that the current regime is borrowing like there is no tomorrow and spending all the money on daft politically motivated projects.

Climate change and associated desertification are having an increasingly calamitous effect on food production as well as an increase in strife not just in the NC but increasingly down south. Frankly, I expect massive population movements southwards. The fact that upwards of 90% of the population in some of these places are involved in agriculture should give any rational observer food for thought.

The day of reckoning is very, very near. I was thinking of these things today and I got very, very scared. You don’t need to be a soothsayer to know who the likely scapegoats will be as things get even more desperate in the country.

We need to build a proper economy in our homeland. We need to look at our peers in places like SE Asia. We should copy, borrow and if necessary steal ideas, technologies and markets from these people.

We need a healthy, educated populace. We need infrastructure. Our very survival as a people is at stake. Mere shaming people to invest backhome isn’t going to work. We need a world class business environment.

The issue is very urgent and cannot wait.

Abagworo is an APC party member. He's loyal to Rochas first and foremost, not Igbo people or anything concerning our wellbeing. Like fellow Rochas people and Rochas himself they seen Igbos as a whole as a staircase to climb towards the Rochas presidency more than they see Igbos as their people. You'll never hear them say anything positive about us and if they need to sell us to get to 'the top' so be it.

you v spoken my mind. Honestly we Igbos v all it takes to build a better society like the South East Asian countries only if we will converge with a definite mind for such. I believe we v what it takes. It s high time we speak Igbo first in development and friendship across the South East. By doing this others will know we r out to build a vibrant society. Also, we need to domesticate our projects within d locality of South East. Every thing must start from d ummna before going to d entire village. Again we need to bring back the development strides we anchor immediately after d civil war. That pattern build our community schools etc and even helped our ppl to travel out for studies.
I want to say that it is high time we forget exchanging words with other tribes on social media. They retrogress and deviate our focus through that. That s their stock in trade and we need to leave them alone. They r not straight forward and sincere people. If u observe generally u will discover that South East states r far ahead other states. Apart from Lagos which was a former Capital Territory and Abuja, other states lack meaningful development. So we need to look home.
Thank you.

1. i would say that the campaign to shame ppl into building their investments in south east is yielding positive results. Our youths who are making money are now building nice structures in se...unlike wen our fathers made their own money and established outside...only visiting se during xmas..so that campaign should continue.

2. I think we should forget restructuring for now. Devolusion of power we can support. But we should never support resource control. Let us join the rest of the country and milk the atlantic and niger delta dry of all oil resources..two can play the game.

3. We should start a new campaign like the think home campaign....this new campaign will be to tell young igbo enterprenours that buying and selling is not the only business they can do. There is a whole world of sectors out there...why are we opening only shops and importing everything upanda?? Is that how we will become se asia?? We should go into other areas too...let start a thread in nairaland or any other site for young igbo enterprenours....na there we go tell dem say buying and selling no dey reign again.

4..we should position ourselves for 2023 presidency...forget say i dey act like say i no need am. Truth is...an igbo president will play a huge part in the current unfolding igbo rebirth.

5. Lastly...like i will always say...create Anioma state. We need one more state in the south east and we need that sate to be anioma state. We suffered because an anioma man killed sarduana...we should own them for life...cos if the eyes starts crying, the nose will join. With anioma state in the south east, igboland will be 80% complete...remaining only igboland in rivers state...and a few igbo towns with small population in benue and crossriver. Cos igbos should gather their number and strenght for the eventual break away from nigeria

Re: . by Purehuman(m): 8:08am On Aug 28, 2018
Handsomegod:

"The Igbo are a Christian rearguard of high intelligence and ability against the southward movement of the Moslem and Arab population of West Africa"- President Felix Houphouet-Boigny of La Cote D'Ivoire.
The above quote is deep and instructive. The recent upsurge in Biafra agitations, even as many of you pick holes in it served to sustain the spirit and consciousness of the above quote and divine mandate as captured by President Felix Houphouet-Boigny. Igbos let us think deeply. Neither Ojukwu nor Nnamdi Kanu was mad or misguided. They both understood the times and tried to provide a buffer. If we pick holes in their strategies, let us refine them and keep running with the divine mandate.Never to give up until we attain independent statehood. This quest is not a marathon. It is a relay. We keep running and reviewing as we go until we produce a refined pattern. But by all means, let us never lift our feet on the pedal.Nigerian politics is atavistic and toxic. It corrupts whatsoever it touches. Our future hangs on the balance if we think all is well. Freedom from Nigeria at whatever cost is a million times better than a billion Igbo president or restructuring. Ekwusiam ka oram na onu!

The quest for independence will always face stiff opposition if the world is seeing another third world country begging UN for yearly aids. We need to work on ourselves and propagate our identity so that we can be easily heard.

Ndigbo do not have a single media company that even showcases us to the world. We are at best local champions. We have one of the least tourist attractions in the country. No one is coming from outside to check anything about us even archeologists!

When you are fighting a bigger person, you either have a bigger weapon or have a bigger brother to help you out.

The conclusion of what I am saying is this, we should be part of the electoral system that will generate s system that will push for the Igbo agenda. An Igbo nation will be birthed through series of processes that will take years to accomplish and coupled with crazy behaviours our neighbours keep showcasing, we will get Biafra.

Nature is gradually dividing us and if we catalyse nature, it might come faster than we plan it.

Can we start some kind of movement geared towards actually making a change.

Not much. But in the case of that particular Udi/Ozalla Nkanu link road, it was well marked, but nit with paint. Sullivan used some reflective lights to embed on both sides of the road from beginning to the end, then use a type of demarcation stone to separate the road. This road is a beauty to drive on, you can drive this road easily at night. I passed through the road late at night yesterday.

What's up with our rising debt though. As bad as T. A Orji was, he kept Abia debt manageable, now under Ikpeazu, it's shooting through the roof, yet civil servants are owed in the state and no good roads still .
Obi left Obiano no debt, now Obiano is stockpiling debt like no tomorrow. What sort of reckless governance is this?
And no one should tell me the borrowing is justified, as we all know that Obiano has in no way outdone Obi in infrastructural and all round development of Anambra.
This is too bad.
For all the stick we are giving Rochas, he had managed to keep Imo debt profile manageable, where as Ikpeazu and Obiano are accumulating debt.

When you consider the total debt profile(domestic and foreign) of all Nigerian state, Anambra is still the lowest in the SE and among the lowest in Nigeria as a whole.

Show me the total debt profile.

Obi did excellent job without accumulating debt. Fiscal management and accountability was his watch words.
Why exactly is Obiano indebting Anambra, so much that Anambra External debt profile is now more than that of Osun?

How did you know he was indebting the state? How much was the debt when he took over in 2015? You need to know that before you can say hey..this is how much he has indebted the state.

Like as i said earlier you have to capitalize the internal and external debt before you can conclude how much each state is owing totally.

Re: . by BeijinDossier: 7:41pm On Aug 29, 2018
Yes it is the latest we can find. And as then Anambra internal debt stood at 2.6billion, about the lowest and still believe it is at that figure now.

Between December 2016 and December 2017, Anambra internal debt came down by about 1.3billion. Which means Obiano was responsible for bringing the figures down wards. Check this out.

That's the conumdrum. The states are not designed to actually work in any reasonable way. Additionally, most states inherited very a large (mostly unproductive) legacy workforce. On the other hand, it's politically suicidal to just sack most of the workers, on the other, paying wages with almost all the FAAC allocation leaves little for any of the showy projects ignorant voters call development. Governors are left with little choice but to borrow so they can be said to be "performing".

Recall that Peter Obi was not universally popular with his fiscally prodent approach.

The link above would answer some of your questions.obiano inherited an external debt of up to $60 b,while that of abia was over $40 b as of 2015.The way it has grown is quite alarming.
Re: . by BeijinDossier: 8:10pm On Aug 29, 2018
