Well, i didn't see that coming, i guess Tariq was Knaan's Achilles heels.
He loved the kid too much that he wasn't thinking straight as he did in Season 1& 2.
Even when he had the opportunity to clip Tariq @ his point of death for his betrayal, he still forgave him and died alone.
