Head-scratching Question 3(the Three Wise Men) by Thenewtruth: 6:17am On Aug 28, 2018 |
1. Were they truly wise? They claimed they saw a star shinning brightly. Can the star shine brighter than the sun? How come they didn't follow the sun that shines brighter than the star? 2. How come no one saw the star except them? Herod who told them to come back didn't even see the star. 3. How did they know the star signified the birth of a baby? After all they only saw a star. |

Thenewtruth: 1) As seen during Northern Hemisphere winter or Southern Hemisphere summer, the stars seem brighter. Why? It’s partly because – around December, evenings the part of Earth the 3 wise men were standing on is facing into the spiral arm of the galaxy to which our sun belongs. There are some massive stars located in this direction, and they are relatively close to us 2) they were astrologers and they study stars and understand their astronomical meaning 3) hmmmm! i don't know the answer for this, because the story is a myth |

Who Sent the “Star”? ▪ Have you seen nativity scenes or plays that depict three kings, or wise men, visiting the newborn baby Jesus as he lay in a manger? According to the story, God used a star to lead them to the stable in Bethlehem. Countless children have even memorized the names of those three kings—Melchior, Caspar, and Baltazar. However, does that popular account match what the Bible actually says? No. In a number of ways, the story is inaccurate. First, who were those men? In the original Greek, the Bible calls them neither kings nor wise men. They were magi, or astrologers. They were evidently practicers of the pagan art of divination based on the stars. The Bible record reveals neither the names nor the number of those visitors. Second, when did those men visit? Not when Jesus was a baby in a manger. How do we know that? The Gospel writer Matthew says: “When they went into the house they saw the young child with Mary its mother.” (Matthew 2:11) Note that Jesus was no longer a newborn baby, but a “young child.” Mary and Joseph were no longer spending nights in a stable; rather, they were by then living in a house. Third, who sent that “star” to lead the astrologers? Religious leaders commonly teach that God sent the “star.” Did he really? Remember, the “star” did not first lead those astrologers to Bethlehem. Rather, it led them to King Herod in Jerusalem. They revealed Jesus’ existence to that jealous and powerful murderer and even gave him strong reason for hating the child who was to become “king of the Jews.” (Matthew 2:2) Craftily, Herod told them to report back to him on the precise location of this child, claiming that he wanted to honor it as well. The “star” then led the astrologers to Joseph and Mary. So the astrologers were on a course that would have doomed the young child had God not intervened. Happily, he did intervene. So enraged was Herod when the astrologers did not report back to him that he ordered all the male children two years of age and younger in and around Bethlehem to be killed.—Matthew 2:16. Jehovah later referred to Jesus as “my Son, the beloved, whom I have approved.” (Matthew 3:17) Consider: Would that loving, righteous Father select pagan astrologers—practicers of an occult art forbidden in his Law—as his messengers? (Deuteronomy 18:10) Would he use a star to lead them to the most dangerous and powerful murderer in the land, bearing a message sure to inflame Herod’s jealous hatred? Would God then use the same star and astrologers to reveal the spot where his helpless son lay? To illustrate: A good military commander sends his best soldier on a dangerous mission into enemy territory. Would he reveal to the enemy where to find that soldier? Of course not! Likewise, Jehovah sent his Son to this dangerous world. Would He reveal to wicked King Herod where His Son lay as a defenseless child? Never! Who, then, sent the “star,” or starlike object? Well, who had the greatest interest in seeing the child Jesus put to death, preventing him from growing up and fulfilling his mission on earth? Who seeks to mislead people and promotes lies, violence, and slaughter? Jesus himself identified the “liar and the father of the lie,” the one who “was a manslayer when he began”—Satan the Devil.—John 8:44. Cc www.jw.org 1 Like |

Olifiz:Lies from the pit of hell called JW. The Star didn't lead the wise men to Herod. They simply went to Herod after seeing the star in the East. They thought the palace should be where the born king of the Jews ought to be. Perhaps, to them, he ought to be Herod's heir. Nowhere is it recorded that the star led them to Herod. |

Instead of you to focus on the task ahead, you're debating a concocted fairytale that happened in the 6th century - which has zero relevance to our lives & world today. If the story, mission & exploits of Jesus & his bastard father in heaven were true, we wouldn't have so much chaos & anarchy ravaging all the continents. Perhaps, Jesus is prolly being nailed to the cross to die for the sins of the extraterrestrials in Jupiter or Saturn at the moment. Hahahahahahaaa! 1 Like |

alBHAGDADI: Well the Bible didn’t say the astrologers went to the palace on their own accord or thinking. They had seen a star. But the point now is this: unlike wat pastors or it’s being preached in churches painting astrologers as good men or the star as a sign from God that in its self is wrong. Astrology is detestable to God n God couldn’t have led Astrologers to Jesus for him to be killed. Tackle the real issue pls. |

Olifiz:I doubt I've ever heard any pastor saying that the wise men are good men, which still doesn't mean they are bad. They practiced astrology because they didn't have the knowledge of God. But fortunately for them, they were led to Jesus where they bowed before him. As for the star, it could be Jesus' star or one from God, who knows. But to boldly say it was the star of Satan without accurate Biblical support is wrong. 1 Like |

alBHAGDADI: Remember after they saw Jesus Dey were suppose to go back to the king to report to him about where Jesus was but wat happened God had to stop that by revealing to them in a dream so Dey left to where Dey came from instead of goin back to the King. What does that tell u pls..... there were other Good people in the land who practiced n obeyed God, John the Baptist was alive during this time. Remember the devil have always wanted to twert Gods plan. Also remember Jesus was the promised seed that will bruise Satan in the head to destroy him so he needed to get him. If not for Gods intervention the astrologers would have gone back to king herod n reported to him about Jesus n that might have led to him being killed so tell me would God have led the astrologers to The King den knowing the king wants to kill Jesus sent the astrologers to find Jesus now show them a star to lead them to Jesus? |
Re: Head-scratching Question 3(the Three Wise Men) by alBHAGDADI: 6:52am On Aug 29, 2018 |
Olifiz:Where is it written that God led the astrologers to Herod? They wanted to return to Herod simply because he told them to do so to inform him of where the child is. They just wanted to obey the king whose palace they went to in the first place thinking the king of the jews was born there. Of course, God knew Satan's plan, that's why He told the astrologers not to go to Herod. If the astrologers had been working for Satan all the while, God won't have allowed them any inch near Jesus. You guys need to stop infusing into the Bible what the book doesnt say. |

alBHAGDADI: Thank God u said God knew Satan’s plans. So now think o. If there wasn’t a star to direct them do u think Dey would have gotten the exact place or house, the Bible said they followed the star n the star stopped in the house where Jesus was, as u have said God fully knowing wen Dey see Jesus they will want to go back to the king to report he wouldn’t even border lettin them know where he’s son was so tell me was that star in Gods accord or Satan. |
