Trikings2000: This would be difficult to tell as its dependent on your preference, the popular is rogers and bell. Some are just internet alone while some have tv channels attached to it the higher the number of tv channels the more expensive...but they are not really costly like that with $85 u can have the basic ones. Others with better experiences with this can advise. 2 Likes 1 Share |

3)I never went to RBC so i can’t tell.TD gave $1000 credit limit, scotia bank gave $2000 4)U declare if u carry more than $10,000,once declared but it didnt favour me in anyway but if u declare here d customs dont bother u...d problem is our naija customs(so sad). 3.RBC gives $2000 4.I declared at Nigerian customs also. They asked for water, I said water is finished. If you have to declare, just be adamant and not give anything. 3 Likes 1 Share |

Please, I would love to find out from experienced and landed seniors in the house: 1. Between getting a job as a post doc student (Faculty position/Academia) and a job in IT, which is more lucrative and have brighter prospect for an immigrant? (not necessarily software development as I am not fully grounded in it yet. Although I have beginners knowledge on Android and Web development.). 2. Which of the two job areas is more available, easier to get and with less competition? Target Provinces are, but not limited to Ontario and Alberta. Thank you in advance. |

Hi Lalaska, Thanks for further reiterating this. I would like to know which insurance companies specifically... (data is gold) Lalaska: 1 Like |

Wndy842003:my first insurance wasn't with TD. It was with thepersonal insurance company and I went on a monthly pre authorized payment plan. I got a better deal with TD after I changed my car after a year and I pay monthly. However, it apears most insurance companies as at this year are asking for lump sum vehicle insurance payments for 1 year from new immigrants (I may be wrong as I am making this assumption based on feedback from a couple of new prs). |

As you will assume, there are several insurance companies here and not all of them accept driving experience from outside Canada/US. I use Pafco insurance for my auto insurance as they accepted my drinking history from Nigeria and fairly priced. deni83: 2 Likes 3 Shares |

Goodday to you all my Canny seniors, please I have some questions to ask; Please how are you guys getting the authentication letter I am hearing about from FRSC. Can one get it in Lagos. FRSC guys here in Anambra are claiming ignorance of the existence or issuance of such a letter. Have also heard people mention the international driver's licence, where does one get that one and what is the procedure? Secondly, for our seniors based in Regina, is the unexpired temporary driver's licence and the recently expired permanent one enough to allow one do the driving test? |

Awwww. Sorry I meant driving history. What will we not see with autocorrect. It will be interesting to see what one can do with drinking history. Lol A555: 3 Likes |

Ifywhyteman: Yesterday I took a Nigerian couple to a DriveTest Center to get their Ontario driver's licenses. The couple had landed in Canada last week and was introduced to me by a Nairaland friend who had also landed last week with his family. My Nairaland friend has lived in France before and has a French driver's license. Therefore, he was given a full G Ontario license without undergoing any testing. As a result of his G license, he is only paying $165 monthly on his car insurance which is very cheap comparing to what a lot of newcomers are playing. As for the couple that I took to the DriveTest Center, they had to apply for their G1 Ontario license before moving to G2 or Full G license. This is where the FRSC letter comes into play. (I will come back with more details about our trip to the DriveTest Center) To answer your question, according to the Nigerian couple, only the FRSC office in Abuja can issue the FRSC letter. However, you need NOT to travel to Abuja to get the FRSC letter. You can apply for it from anywhere in Nigeria. To get the FRSC letter, You can follow the following steps that the couple had learned from a Nigerian-Canadian Whatsapp group: 1st step - Send an email with your driver's license details to the FRSC Abuja Office requesting a FRSC letter or driving record. You are more likely NOT to receive a reply from the FRSC Abuja office. 2nd step- Follow up your email by contacting this Abuja FRSC Employee (Sule - phone number 2348033795031) Sule will access the FRSC Database and will write for you the FRSC letter. I was also told that the Service provided by Sule is free of charge . The only money you will send to him is for the shipment of the FRSC letter to you. Bonne chance 73 Likes 44 Shares

Ifywhyteman: I have no idea about Regina, Sk. I am an Ontarian . Let hope that vcole or anyone in SK will be able to assist with your request. Please be advised that we were told at the DriveTest Center that the FRSC letter is only good for 6 months from the day it was issued. 11 Likes 1 Share |

chinymi:Yes. You shpuld have no problem bringing them across the airport. I haven't seen a shea butter here, maybe becuase I do not use it. However, you can find all the other items here and may even be cheaper than paying for excess luggage. For the rice, just buy any brand of parboiled rice and you would be good to go. 3 Likes |

So Alberta has been let down again, and Notley threw a fit. "In a dramatic announcement Thursday evening, Premier Rachel Notley said she is pulling Alberta out of the national climate-change plan to protest a federal court ruling that quashed expansion of the Trans Mountain pipeline". Big mess. Alberta really needs to diversify its economy. 3 Likes |

Hey guys, Thanks for being nice. I've got a friend who intends doing a short landing cos of some personal stuff to handle before returning permanently. 1. I know he'd have to wait until his PR card is ready before returning to Canada, I have heard of other alternatives but with sketchy details. Is there a way he can return even when his PR card isn't ready? 2. His goods won't be coming with him cos it's a short landing, on return will he be taxed for his goods? Thanks for your anticipated response. 2 Likes |

Java47: 1. He doesn't have to wait until the PR card is ready unless he wants to. He can re-enter Canada by applying for the permanent resident travel document via VFS global. Someone in my WhatsApp also claimed the immigration officer he met during his landing told him his PR card could be shipped internationally if he wishes. 2. To avoid taxes, he should fill the goods to follow form. 1 Like |
