Peacefullife: Do yourself and the car and any technician the favor of watching your dashboard so you can positively identify when it begins overheating which is when the coolant gauge begins moving from the center towards the danger zone so that your description of when it happens and how it happens can better assist us to diagnose the issue with the vehicle unseen. |

Hi peeps, I'm thinking of changing my car Honda to a better budget efficient car. Ordinary I would love to go for a Toyota but my budget right now can't afford that. I'm thinking of going for nissan altima 2001 model, but I rarely know much about the car especially its maintenance cost and how fuel efficient it is. I will appreciate an honest review of it. Thank you. |

m4goodlife: Is this car you are considering, foreign used or Nigerian used? |

Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by oluwaseunla(m): 5:42am On Aug 22, 2018 |
m4goodlife: Exercise serious caution when buying a Nigerian used Nissan. A lot of them out there are seriously abused. Preferably, conduct a pre purchase inspection to have an idea of the present state of vehicle before parting with your money. 1 Like |

Good Day. Please what is the best engine oil to use for my Infiniti G35 2007 model. |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by Nobody: 8:55am On Aug 29, 2018 |
MrBuzy:For viscosity any of these should be all right: 5W30, 5W40, 10W40. I'd prefer 10W40. For quality grade: SM or SN Brand: Look out for the well-known ones. Most will opt for Mobil 1, but you need not if you find the cost prohibitive. I use Castrol on my 2012 Murano. Seems the local brands like Total and MRS are available, but I've not checked them out. |

MrBuzy: My brother if you love your car and your wallet... and you don't want to a regular visitor at the mechanic shop.. Please use USA spec Mobil which I do import.. The engine for that car can very expensive.. It is not a car that you toy with.. Once a mechanic starts messing with the engine that car is done for good ..USA spec Mobil 5w30 is highy reccomended especially extended performance at 17500k .... Email me for more information at dru23@hotmail.com and please use coolant instead of water .. A word is always enough for the wise... |

Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by dru23(m): 10:17am On Aug 29, 2018 |
Vested: Recommend oil for that car is 5w30 and one person reccomended 20w10 or something.. Something that was not even in the car manual... I no fit trust Nigeria oil at all ..g35 is a luxury car and you should be able to afford the best for it ..and most importantly the car will need a good coolant and never water ...Nigeria lacks good maintenance culture |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by Vested(m): 10:25am On Aug 29, 2018 |
dru23: There's always an oil grade spectrum in manuals. Also, we don't know the state of his engine at the moment. Finally, I didn't see 20W10 above when someone gave an advice. Most of what you've stated are in the owner's manual. The issue should be whether the manuals are being read by owners. |

Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by Crixie(m): 2:32pm On Aug 29, 2018 |
MrBuzy:You can't go wrong with 5w30 /0w 30.If you have the funds, a good fully synthetic brand would be awesome (SM/SN) |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by thebigkendo(m): 3:15pm On Aug 29, 2018 |

Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by radautoworks: 5:14am On Aug 30, 2018 |
MrBuzy: 5W30 is the ONLY recommended oil for this car. I've also put all your other fluids for you below CARQUEST All Season Motor Oil, 5W-30 N9,855 http://weblink.carquest.com/acl/?mfgName=CQO&partNumber=CQ620-5QT OR CARQUEST Synthetic Motor Oil, 5W-30 N16,060 http://weblink.carquest.com/acl/?mfgName=CQO&partNumber=CQ930-5QT You can use either but be aware once you start using synthetic oil, it is NOT recommended to go back to conventional.

Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by thebigkendo(m): 8:42am On Aug 30, 2018 |
radautoworks: I actually think switching should not be a problem, as long its same oil weight/grade and motor does not have any pending sludge issue it. If any switch will bring up any issue, it should be the other way round (ie going from conventional to synthetic) like in Uncle Yusuf's corolla engine |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by radautoworks: 9:11pm On Aug 30, 2018 |
thebigkendo: In our experience, it's the downgrade that causes problems. It's not guaranteed to but when there have been issues, it was caused by going from syn to conventional. |
Re: Official Nissan & Infiniti Thread by thebigkendo(m): 9:44pm On Aug 30, 2018 |
radautoworks: Alright.. I have been switching between synthetic and synthetic blend and back, all 5w-30. Depending on my bank balance when oil change is due ... No issue yet.. Might try out conventional in my next oil change 1 Like |
