I notice the overhoverheating whenever I get to my destination, and off the engine, the coolant will just pour out . It is usually worse when I use the a.c. I think it is related to a.c operation

Do yourself and the car and any technician the favor of watching your dashboard so you can positively identify when it begins overheating which is when the coolant gauge begins moving from the center towards the danger zone so that your description of when it happens and how it happens can better assist us to diagnose the issue with the vehicle unseen.

Do you meant went OFF in traffic?if yes crankshaft position sensor is the major issues on Nissan when it comes to that symptoms or better still run a scan and post the code here.Regards

Hi peeps, I'm thinking of changing my car Honda to a better budget efficient car. Ordinary I would love to go for a Toyota but my budget right now can't afford that. I'm thinking of going for nissan altima 2001 model, but I rarely know much about the car especially its maintenance cost and how fuel efficient it is. I will appreciate an honest review of it. Thank you.

Is this car you are considering, foreign used or Nigerian used?

Nigerian used

Nigerian used

Exercise serious caution when buying a Nigerian used Nissan. A lot of them out there are seriously abused. Preferably, conduct a pre purchase inspection to have an idea of the present state of vehicle before parting with your money.

For viscosity any of these should be all right: 5W30, 5W40, 10W40. I'd prefer 10W40.
For quality grade: SM or SN
Brand: Look out for the well-known ones. Most will opt for Mobil 1, but you need not if you find the cost prohibitive. I use Castrol on my 2012 Murano. Seems the local brands like Total and MRS are available, but I've not checked them out.

Does it mean we should throw our manuals to the garbage bin?
I thought Manufacturer's recommendations are usually found in the owner's manual?

Anyways, what do I know sef?

Recommend oil for that car is 5w30 and one person reccomended 20w10 or something.. Something that was not even in the car manual... I no fit trust Nigeria oil at all ..g35 is a luxury car and you should be able to afford the best for it ..and most importantly the car will need a good coolant and never water ...Nigeria lacks good maintenance culture

There's always an oil grade spectrum in manuals. Also, we don't know the state of his engine at the moment.
Finally, I didn't see 20W10 above when someone gave an advice.
Most of what you've stated are in the owner's manual. The issue should be whether the manuals are being read by owners.

You can't go wrong with 5w30 /0w 30.If you have the funds, a good fully synthetic brand would be awesome (SM/SN)

5W30 is the ONLY recommended oil for this car. I've also put all your other fluids for you below

CARQUEST All Season Motor Oil, 5W-30 N9,855 http://weblink.carquest.com/acl/?mfgName=CQO&partNumber=CQ620-5QT

OR

CARQUEST Synthetic Motor Oil, 5W-30 N16,060 http://weblink.carquest.com/acl/?mfgName=CQO&partNumber=CQ930-5QT

You can use either but be aware once you start using synthetic oil, it is NOT recommended to go back to conventional.

I actually think switching should not be a problem, as long its same oil weight/grade and motor does not have any pending sludge issue it.
If any switch will bring up any issue, it should be the other way round (ie going from conventional to synthetic) like in Uncle Yusuf's corolla engine wink

In our experience, it's the downgrade that causes problems. It's not guaranteed to but when there have been issues, it was caused by going from syn to conventional.

Alright.. I have been switching between synthetic and synthetic blend and back, all 5w-30.
Depending on my bank balance when oil change is due grin grin grin... No issue yet..
Might try out conventional in my next oil change grin grin
