According to him, charging of phones and several other electrical accessories has being a source of income and it has also put food on my table and cash in my bank account.

“Although, i’m not happy that there’s irregular electricity provision in Lafia, I will say that has been to my advantage currently.

“Had power supply been stable, I would not have been able to make the N6,000 I make at least in a day. If you multiply it into 30 days, it is N180, 000 in a month,” he said.

He told NAN that he powers his business by solar energy to augment his petrol-powered generator, on which he spends N1,000 daily on fuel.

That is total amount made. His profit will be much lower after all expenses have been deducted. But it still seems viable.

I doubt he makes up to this in profits every month
while he isnt the first to venture into this business , a lot of factors will determine if he would be able to make such a huge profit monthly.

The nature of that areas power supply ( erratic or constant), how much he spends on fuel monthly , where he is located ( marketplace or residencial area) , and his securitt measures to ensure no phone is stolen are some of the biggest factors that will affect his income.

180/30 = N6,000 per day

If it take 4hrs to charge a phone and charges 10 simultaneously.

Working for 16hrs = 40 phones charged per day
@ N200 per phone, he all make = 40*200 = N8000

Now, that make sense
they charge more than 100 phones a day. I do patronize them a lot and most times we collect phones even before it fulls plus they work till around 11pm and collect N50 per phone.

Not true. Most of their chargers are desktop chargers and low amperage Pin/usb chargers.
Desktop chargers take up to 8 hours or more depending on the battery, unless you just want boot your phone to make a call. And also, it is N50 per charge.

He makes sales of 6k daily, he spends 1k daily on fuel. That is 5k profit daily.

This story seems incomplete.
It depends on the area his business is located and the calibre of customers he has.
I can easily go to a viewing centre to watch a match for 2 hours and also charge my phone.
With bet shops everywhere why do I need to go and pay someone to charge my phone. When I can charge and watch over my phone.
Something is missing in this report and to make 180k profit after expenses
OR
Does he get his fuel supply for free

You people just come up with theories.... I know of a lady in abeokuta, she has nothing less than 50 sockets at her shop and there is no time that you pass around there that the entire sockets wont be occupied...Multiply that by N50 and by the hours of the day and subtract N2000 for fuel

How many hours desktop charger dey charge battery? N50 * 50 socket= N2500. Did question is how many times will she use one socket?

Sometimes our over educated ego blinds simple opportunities from us. For those in Kaduna during the early GSM boom in 2001 thereabout, there was this guy who was popularly called the doctor of GSM phones. He came in from Finland and made not just money but purchased houses in the GRA where our top politicians and elite live.

There is no business that does not bring money in Nigeria.
