Torino wing-back Ola Aina has pulled out of international duty with Nigeria after sustaining a muscular injury football Italia reports. However, Toro announced Aina will not be able to attend international duty for Nigeria’s game against the Seychelles on September 8. It could possibly mean a late call up to NK Gorica of Croatia right full back Musa Mohammed who was placed on standby in the list of players called up for the clash by coach Gernot Rohr. Aina would have filled into the right back position with ease following injuries to the duo of Tyronne Ebuehi and Shehu Abdullahi. A replacement is expected to be named later today by Rohr. |

Icon4s: Doesn't make sense to me... The chances of qualifying is very slim at the moment. Let us just hope we qualify but kind difficult.. If we don't.. That will be second time consecutively we don't make it to u17 championship. |

Our U-17 team just lost their first group game in the first regional tournament (WAFU-U17) that will serve as qualifier to 2019 U-17 World Cup. The eventual winner takes the sole spot for the Region. Hmmm... I can only blame the West African FAs who agreed to this new mode of QUALIFICATION. The Southern Africa have done well to secure a spot for themselves.... What a smart move through the new CAF president. Imagine CIV, Nigeria, Ghana, BK, Guinea, Mali all vying for one spot. E Don cast for us be that. Countries like Namibia, South Africa, Madagascar etc will be the ones reping the South. Sincerely yours, SA will be forming boss there. Make de sha not try am for the Senior World Cup. Cos who knows, they may be planning something underneath... If they try this rubbish thinking they want to emulate the Europeans who now play a form of European Nations League which is also regionised then.... Your guess is as good as mine. We all hope against all hope that our U-17 team will scale through. |

AIG07:it doesn't matter what they do. Whichever team that qualifies from Southern and Northern Africa will still crash and burn to West Africa |

AIG07: With that kind of preparation? Hmmm only miracle will help us out... Like you said let us just HOPE. The arrangement don't make sense at all... I'm very Sure is part of the deal they have with Ahmed CAF President. |

AIG07: Thats the price that was paid for Issa Hayatou to be defeated...very strange deals ie reformating the qualification to give the regions more chance in world cup qualifiers....more shocking groupings are coming |

If we get our house in order we will almost always qualify for the World Cup regardless. But, yes, Africa's best talents are in West Africa. The region deserves more slots. The regions should get more slots commensurate with our contribution at the world stage for the last past decade at least. gamaliel9: |

JoebieII: Mali, Guinea, Senegal and co will battle for the other WAFU ticket. This is a tournament that most times all the 4 African tickets are taken by teams from West Africa. Countries like Nigeria, Ghana, Mali, CIV, B.Faso, and Guinea have been known to produce the best teams from Africa at this age level. Now the useless CAF has limited the number of ticket from WA to African U17 to 2. This is a big scam and totally unacceptable. They are trying to favor countries for South and East Africa at the detriment of producing quality teams to represent Africa. What a shame. 1 Like 1 Share |

Jamilu Collins Downplays Injury Fears By Editor - September 3, 20180151 SC Paderborn of Germany defender, Jamilu Collins has downplayed fears raised over an injury blight, as he says he only had a knock last weekend, but insists it is nothing serious. Speaking in the wake of his going off against VfL Bochum in the German second division, the Super Eagles’ new invitee waved aside fitness worries and stressed that he will report to the Nigerian camp in Victoria, Seychelles. Collins dispelled fears that any injury could deny him his Eagles’ debut in Seychelles, as he is already focused on the AFCON 2019 qualifier on Saturday. The 24-year-old former Flying Eagles left-back was hauled off by Paderborn after 84 minutes against Bochum, thereby raising worries that he may have suffered an injury. However, Collins stated: “I’m focused coming from my club – to go to Seychelles and win. We hope to play good football and win the match.” --footballLiveNg 1 Like 1 Share |

Joebie: Good point..but i fear that previous experiments with such transitions always failed for us....u21 stage needs certain maturity..experience...yes experience...and a lot of grit...if you watched all our games so far in this age group...you will notice that the ones we went far were not really through transition....but a combination of experience...grit...etc Not that we cannot get one or two players to transit...its ok...the last debacle is still fresh |

Re: "The Super Eagles Thread: The Road To AFCON 2025 And 2026 World Cup by Joebie: 10:57pm On Sep 03, 2018 |
It depends on what you thought I meant by my statement. Firstly the players are most likely between the ages of 17 and 20. Now the big question is can they compete with the current U20 players for spots in the team? I never meant those transition experiments. gamaliel9: |
