If everyone in this country were like me, they will all shut-down due to lack of teachers.

Instead of me to take up a teaching job of N25,000, I'll organize home lesson for 5-6 students.

I guess it's because the so called teachers are not good enough.

how much would you charge the 6 students and how many subjects would you be teaching?

would all the students be of the same age?

what teaching aids would you be using.

how is the learning environment like?

what type of board would you use?

what is the duration of each period?

kindly answer all these

people talk here as if its so easy setting up something

even the so called entrepreneurs dont even pay their workers well , most even owe workers.

the pay is low I agree. Still people are paid far less monthly. there is hunger in the land.

Its far better than begging for daily bread.Its only for a while

Mmmmmmmmmm 10k for a secondary school teacher because I saw chemistry etc. 2nd slavery in disguise.

On my final yr in skul my projects topic was on teacher motivation, under payment/delay in payments are major reasons why teachers are not given out their best.

@ op to have brighter students focus on ur teachers bcus they will be the ones to impact the needed knowledge

I'm surprise people are acting surprised. Come to Zaria in Kaduna state that's what most average private schools pay their teachers. The top rated ones are the ones tgat can manage to pay 20k to 30k. When I see some comments on nairaland, I realise we're living in different world in this same Nigeria. I'm not supporting op at all, I'm totally against such exploitation but that's the reality in some places

I'm not the kind of person who will ask others to do what I cannot do. It's what I have done in the past. I'm not asking anyone to look for a space or a shop, furnish it with chairs, tables and chalkboard. No, that's not what I mean.

Those will require money, which not everyone can afford.

All you need to start teaching is in your head. The knowledge you already have. As an average student, this may seem impossible for you, but if you're far above average, you don't have a problem.

At a time, I had 9 primary school pupils, 2 secondary school students and an adult. I go to their houses to teach them.

Notes:

1. All these people do not stay in the same house, not even on the same street, but within the same locality.

2. For secondary school students, I don't take all subjects. My arrangement with the parents is that I will be taking them only on the problematic ones. For instance: Maths, Physics and Chemistry only.

3. Because of how good I was, I got a lot of referrals which I had to turn-down, cos I couldn't handle the workload.

4. Some, I take twice in a week, others 3 or 4 times depending on the need.

5. I can spend 30 minutes with a student, 1 hour or 1: 30, depending on how long it takes me to convey my message for the day.

6. I wasn't trained as a teacher, but I know how to make people understand things.

The most important thing is for the parents to see improvement in their children. If you're good, you won't have a problem selling yourself. Remember, you cannot give what you don't have. So says the Greek Maxim, "Nemo Dat Quod Non Habet."
