Even Rwanda!
We need change of mindset down here. Government property is our property. Don't do things that will damage the environment and make it look filthy. Here people throw things on the road and into the gutters anyhow. These wastes end up blocking the few drainages that we have, and the water remains on the road thereby leading to potholes
Who are you going to blame for that, the Government or the people?

The more the population the more problems that's why I just smile when people compare electricity generation in Nigeria to Ghana. But still not an excuse not to get it right though Ghana is like Lagos population if Lagos gets its act together it can provide stable electricity but I can't boldly say the same for 200million population.

China has 1.3 billion people and power supply is constant. Population has nothing to do with it.

Paul Kagame is a technocrat and he has employed technocrats to manage the country. The Economist magazines said the policies he pursues are ones you'd think were provided by either them or the IMF.

The country is a darling of the West for the way it has been managed.

Also, corruption is very low and the man is super strict. He is known for actually beating subordinates who misbehave (This is wrong though)

Burundi which has the same ethnic mix and small population like Rwanda is badly run and is becoming a pariah nation

Incase U dnt know, the number of road users affect its durability.....

The number of people with cars in 9ja surpasses that of Rwanda
Then the type of cars used is also a factor
How frequent these cars use the road is also considered......

These surveys are carried out before constructing a road

So don't act TOO intelligent when U don't know her angle of reasoning

The primary reason the country has little or no potholes is run by technocrats and the president has ensured that corruption is very low.

China has 1.3 billion people and their roads are in excellent condition so population has nothing gto do with it.

Also, South Africa with 50m people has well managed roads.

The West praise the way Kagame has run the place

But once it happened and so much loss incurred, it was a big chance to appreciate peace & put a good political system in place that will ensure lasting peace & economic progress. I wonder about your level of historical knowledge. Germany & Japan are two of the most peaceful and successful industrial nations of the second part of last century. Both arose from the ruins and ashes of war.

Switzerland never experienced war and it's industrialized. You don't need war to achieve fast economic growth.

Good policies are the prime determinants as to whether a country will be become advanced or remain poor.

India is much smaller geographically compared to China. This would not be a fair comparison. The people in India are free, unlike china where there is government restriction even to have 2 kids until recently. Google, banned, youtube banned, facebook banned - muslims ill-treated. To me that is an oppressive society.
idrismusty97

The similarities is fair. It simply shod the importance of leadership.

India is a democracy where consensus politics slows things down or stop them from being down.
For instance, India has rigid labour laws which discourage employers from taking on more formal workers and the politicians find it difficult amending the labour laws because the unions will take to the street and pro labour parties will frustrate any amendment in congress.

If it was in China, they'd simply amend the law easily because it is dictatorship, somewhat benevolent one.

The roads are bad in Nigeria due to endemic corruption , mediocrity, lack of accountability and not following best practices.

At independence, Nigeria had one of the best civil service in the world and UCH, Ibadan was ranked 4th in the world.

The rot started with our politicians but the decay must have gone full throttle with the Muritala Mohammed sacking witch hunting of civil servants and the Babangida years where endemic corruption and mediocrity were the hallmark of that administration

Please at least try to know history before you talk publicly. Switzerland had a civil war that lasted about a month in 1847. It is called the Sonderbund War. Just under 20 years before American civil war. By the way Switzerland invaded France just over 20 earlier too.

While wars may not have been frequent in Switzerland, Swiss mercenaries fought in virtually every war the Great powers fought in over the centuries.

Who said war is the only pre-requisite for development? Certainly countries who went through devasting wars have more incentive to rebuild and be peaceful. Germany, Japan, South Korea and the West generally are prime examples.

Please post such pictures here and let's juxtapose. Waiting. If you are not in those places, whoever is there in this forum should do the needful. Nigerians can deceive themselves. You got over 300likes already. So over 300 people can post pix of those places in lagos that beats what the op just posted. Waiting.

You can drive to anywhere in lagos for 10hours without a single porthole. Lagos is working. Nigerians hmmm. They will come after me here now. They don't want to see the truth. They hate the truth.
tiwiex:

Nope. I have been there. It is what you see. Drive a distance of 4 hours on a trip and NO port holes. I saw it live. Went from Kigali to Gisenyi and it was smooth sailing. 4 hours. If na by infrastructure, I give a 7/8 to them and a 3 to us as it is.

Nigerians will keep explaining failures. Hmmmm.
Mizwisdom:

Yea it is an excuse especially because of population density. Lagos is a tiny state with over 20million people using the available infrastructure, yet much bigger Rwanda has less population. The higher the population density the faster the rate of using the infrastructure available and the more difficult it is to keep up with maintainance
