Hi everyone,

How do you guys call home? What's the cheapest means asides Whatsapp or Skype or Facebook calls?

I'm seriously looking for options.

As I don’t have. Dual sim phone, I use Rebtel. I pay like £7 or so for 1 hour to Nigeria, I think..

Lebara costs £20 for like 500 (abi 100) mins or so..

So pick your choice.

Thanks buddy. This seems like the best option.

The problem with all those apps from the playstore are, they could just fold up and your call time credit dissappears and calls are usually routed through VOIP (not always clear).....

Anyone remembers ringoverseas? Fantastic VOIP enabled call service, till they vanished off the playstore and the world (walking away with people's call credits).......

Thanks a lot, i now understand why when some people are moving out they tend to leave some furnitures behind. Moving with those things are not pleasant and you even pay to dispose them off if you are unable to take them to recycling sites.

About insurance, i heard the premium is always high for new drivers as the risk is high. Someone told me you can get a letter from the insurance company you were using in Nigeria showing details of your driving history and all, i heard that will bring down the cost...(not confirmed yet o)

The best solution while renting, either get a fully furnished flat/house or buy very minimal furnitures while still renting.

No point buying heavy duty goods, or else you would hate yourself when it's time to move on again.......

I personally doubt your Nigerian insurance history would make any difference to your overall premium. Your best solution is to buy a very low insurance rated vehicle and build up... If you buy a Lexusgs430, expect to pay a very high insurance premium, on the other hand if you buy a small Ford fiesta, Toyota Aygo, Citroën C1, Peugeot 106 etc etc. Your premium should not exceed £700 per annum.... cheesy

How does this work? Do they have to install an app too?

You install the app and load credit unto it. You then make a call from the app to the number in Nigeria. It is routed through a local line in the UK or you can use wifi (I have not tried this, I just use my inclusive minutes from my mobile).

I have used rebtel before but I do not like the fact that they tax me for loading credit so I switched to White calling.

I greet the elders! smiley

I have an issue though.. I have a 6 months short stay visa which ends on the last day of Feb. 2019 but my business in the UK would be till the first week of March before i depart.

Is it gonna cause any issue in the future? and/or can i rectify at the Home Office?

Tried getting responses from other threads but no response. Forgive me.

Contact UKBA to change the dates on your visa ASAP. You should have indicated your departure and return date on you visa so refer to it and ask them to change it.

I bought the lebara sim and just left it in my bag, looking for who to dash it to. I have like £10 if you want- I know you’re a big boy- but if it’s more useful to you, I’m happy to send it to you cheesy

I'm seriously looking for options.

I have a Vodafone contract with a £10 add-on that gives me 500mins/month to quite a few countries including Nigeria. I've had it for almost a year now and it's pretty good. You don't have to faff around with an additional line or extra app, you make the calls same as you make local calls.

Hi everyone,
This is one of the greatest forum I've ever encountered online. Please i need to make som enquiries on behalf of my colleague
She got a job in UK to come in on a tier 2 visa, although she is single, she has 2 children already the oldest being 10 and the other 6years. Is it possible to move to the UK with one of them and come back for the other one later? She intend to leave the older child with her aunt in uk (the family has agreed to care for the child until she settles).
Thanks
