Bokoharam tactics now is hit hard. Capture Ammunitions and fall out of the area. Gudumbali now under our control.

My question? Where did over 300 bokoharam go after the attack? If ISWAP can strike a whole local government, why can't the military on an offensive dislodge them out of their own location?

I'm only concerned about the stolen weapons. They're gearing up for something but who am I? Just a WC.

I have been under an intense fire fight with these bastards but as it is, what I have learnt is then know who they're attacking. They know these guys on ground are armed with riffles, gun trucks and RPG.

They come with grenade launchers, rocket etc. My question why is grenade launcher in limited use by our own? Proper usage of these equipments is also necessary too. My opinion is, find a way to put SF with some of these guys with limited coin experience.

I have been with MSF and came under attack at our temporary location. First thing you do is to spread out. Everyone knows the right place to face. Repelling the attack heavily with gun trucks, mortars from my side and GL from the msf.
Maybe instead of more grenade launchers there should be at least 1 50-60mm mortar with each section? Its heavier so would suck to carry around but the increased range, firepower, and rate of fire would be a godsend. Anyone else think that's a good idea?

First, we thank God for your safety!

Second, WTH is wrong with the Army!!! Good Pete!!
When will they learn that fire power at the Squad & Platoon level is very vital!
One would expect by now that MGLs are used at the Sectional level & we have Heavy weapons companies wielding the big stick -AGLs. Are the Brass so dumb about AREA AFfECT weapons?

SF attachment is a short term band aid, how about Leadership courses for Sergeants, how about better situational awareness, how about Fire power. Yes, I can stomach us not being able to reach out to touch, and send them to their virgins at will, but godforbid that they can put on so much spirit to attack us in our own PLOT of LAND!
The SF shouldn't be some bailout team mopping up after these goddamn incompetent brass fa!

60mm mortar with the platoon instead

Engagements these days are platoon & sectional battles, if the firepower at these levels are "equal" with the enemy then we can as well buy enough papers for obituaries!

We no go go learn tracking like this?
From the books about the Rhodie Bush war, any time guerillas infiltrate, they are tracked till they are found and eliminated. These was the 60s-80s, this is the goddamn 21st century.

Algerian1,how is the maintenance of your Su 30s going? AFAIK you have 2 squadrons of 24 and I know heavyweight double engines are maintenance hungry, especially Sues. Do you have your own indig spares manufacture or how do you keep them airborne? Have the Russians fulfilled their own after sales agreement? I ask cause generally they're very lax in this regard, ask nemesis8u the IAF experience with their own Sues!

Algeria have 58 sukhoi 30 MKA ( 28 for 2006 contract , 16 for 2011 contract and 14 for 2015 contract)

For maintenance center there is no official info about it . for sure algerian army have a maintenance center for its jets but at what level and certification . you will not find official news about it . and russian are doing good job for after sale services for algeria .

That's my fear baba mi!
The way we use these guys, attrition rate becomes avoidably high! I can't stop yelling "AFSF should be used strategically offensively". Don't the army have a SF Bde? What are they doing?

U guys have any SOP wrt disabling and destroying weapon stocks while retreating or under the threat of retreat ?

BH primary aim seems to be resupply , so if u make that option useless for them , then things might just get interesting.

I remember the guys I know used to bobby trap enemy caches , including weapon stores in police stations in high risk zones to discourage them. ( Includes sabotaged weapons and ammo )

And sometimes even let them escape with some arms which were bugged with locators.

So they r now reduced to snatching arms from policeman on duty and even then it's a big risk and they don't know what hell might fall on them.

300 boko haram members disappeared? Is this a joke?

What is the airforce doing with all their ISR planes at a time like this?

If they had time to retreat, they must also have time to destroy most of the weapons they can't carry along.

This one weak me sha, because something more than this will happen again and very soon.

Bros, am sure i was not giving support to anyone. I only gave my view on the matter. If the pic below is what you refer to as cache of arms then i give up.

Secondly, i made this clear in my post "What ever they left was nothing compared to what boko haram brought in. So its not really a big plus".

How many isr assets r available ?

What is the range and capabilities of the onboard sensors ?

What is the allowable deployment pattern and revisit time for persistence coverage ?

What is the turnaround turn of these assets and operational availablity ?

Etc

These r ops realities which we ignore and all we see is a physical asset and assume that capabilities from the said asset is automatically to be expected.

Guy forget this talk abeg. They retreated when they were attacked and some retreated with just the uniform they were wearing and their rifle. My take is that as usual the nonsense that is plaguing the Nigerian nation is still the same thing affecting the military. Until they get serious about this thing then this issue will be with us. Fighting an insurgency in your backyard with 90% local support should be a walk in the park. But as usual in Nigeria 10 plus years we are still where we are:Fathers, brothers and sons are being killed and its like nothing is happening. Na wa Nigeria I hail thee. Mtcheeew.

Brother, you heard just like we all hear different things online. The truth of the matter is that we all believe when a military base is overrun weapons most be left behind.

What ever they left was nothing compared to what boko haram brought in. So its not really a big plus.

Like you are being robbed with guns and you are think the knife in your pocket will add to the robber's capability.

If those troops had the large cache of arms you claim they left, they wouldn't have retreated without a good fight.

I swear if I wear to be in the military and a recruit, Walahi no be only order, I will not go. That I swore to defend and die for my father land doesn't mean that I should be killed like a chicken. If I will be charged for desertion and even sentenced to die, better for me that I was killed by my comrades in arms/the same people I swore to protect than to be killed by one fucking jihadist that is fighting to get 70 pu..ies.

When will my fellows bloggers and analysts agree with me that NA is currently being outmaneuvered inside Nigerian territory?
PMB has decided to fight this war on a shoestring budget. general buratai has no choice but to salute and carry on.

But why with all the Chinese loan facilities available to PMB is he condemning NA and it's men to such a tragedy?

And what is more scary, is that none of the presidential aspirants are criticizing PMB along these lines.
Instead they are suspicious and resistant to the proposed 1 billion Usd, which is a drop in the bucket.

So this means that the entire political class are clueless about our military affairs.

BTW, where is the so called informed criticism from recently retired generals?
How about any general serving or retired.

The entire country is clueless and groping in the dark, that is why my recommendation of a reputable PMC is apt in thi situation.

Even if they only succeed in convincing our political class that real money has to be spent to even dream about salvaging this war.

Bacause they are not suicidal, and would not touch the contract if they learn that our political and military brass would rather spend the money elsewhere.
