@OP....I suggest you buy bano there car. From your write up...it seems the car had a simple problem....and the kazeems took the opportunity to create more by vetting g at the root of the problem...and worse...been taking or switching parts. Your car is no more normal....and as you fiX one thing...you will see others need to be fixed as well. If you do get a other car...just find a real mechance and pay the price...it will be wayyyy cheaper in the long run.

Not a mechanic...but for your.car to be low makes me believe they switched your springs and struts..my guess. Maybe your mechanic is taking what he needs from your car to fix that of a customer or family member!

Wow... Thanks.

Was looking through you tube and saw videos for spring and struts replacement. The ones i saw being used was the regular size. Cant i get something higher in length?

I was in ibadan to fix a lot of vehicles in a single location yesterday. The owner is a die hard repair/rebuild Fan, he has 20year old cars running better than toks (all thanks to Gazzuzz) But it comes at a great cost. I will open a thread for one of his vehicles which I will be fixing in my workshop soon. It's a 2004 Hyundai sedan, present Value of vehicle is about 200-350k. fixing vehicle will cost about 400-600k full body interior, paintwork, engine repairs suspension, a/c work.

Owner presented with the possible realities, but insists on a repair since I'm the one doing it.

His Reason is simple. Same used car (toks), same mileage, would have unpredictable repair costs, he would rather bite the bullet than replace the car.

IT all depends on your perspective, your pockets and your priorities.

You didn't call me.

as I don see "chain guard" I don sabi where this thing go end

Baba oloko

that noise you are hearing is from your timing chain....and it won't stop until if cuts and bends ur valves

you need to do an outright replacement of your timing chain..all these "guardian and counseling" won't work kankan..I av seen this thing plenty times grin

either that,or na replacement engine get u...no worry, the engine no cost wink

As for me the minimum I would do if I hear timing chain noise is:

Timing Chain Kit With Sprockets, Oil Pump, and Water Pump

This Timing Chain Kit with Water and Oil Pumps fits Nissan VQ35DE 3.5L V6 Engines.
Please note: This kit does not contain VVT sprockets.

Replaces part numbers:

C720F, 9-720F, 13028-ZS70A, 13028-7Y000 (Engine Timing Chain)
C721F, 9-721F, 13028-ZK01C, 13028-7Y010 (Engine Timing Chain, 2 included)
9-5592, 95592, 13091-7Y000, 13091-ZK00A (Engine Timing Chain Tensioner Guide)

Hello All,

Back in 2009 when she was still new, we didnt have issues. As last year, the car developed the issues below.

1. Developed a very funny sound: I feel its the silencer tho but on many occassions, we have patched it but it remains same.

2. You have to press on the tortle before the car can actually go a desireable distance.

3. The AC doesnt work.

4. The power steering is worse off: It cannot be easily turned. A mechanic said it was the gushin. The gushin was changed and the neck is barely manageable. I really want it to be free as that of a new car. Some say its the power steering oil. The compartment for the oil is always filled yet the isssue persists.

5. The car seems some how low: What i mean is, after repairing issues no. 1 highlited above, if the car goes into a small ditch, coming isnt rosy. It must surely touch the groud.

6. The car goes off while in motion after going a certain distance: At this point, there's water in the radiator, battery is fine though i noticed after leaving the car for about 20min, it starts up like nothing went wrong. It has embarrased me twice.

7. Checking the engine, i realised that many relays have been removed. Relays like AC, Fog Lamp, Etc.

This car was working fine when it was first bough in 2009 and i am in total shock how it has degenerated to this level.

Would share more pictures of her soon as she is grounded somewhere in agege as a result of issue 6.

Please N'landers, come and advise biko..
your Nissan Maxima is suffering from bad mechanics and electricians, all this faults are simple faults that a good mechanic will sort out in no time, what needed is a good steering pump, timing chain with tensioner, good water pump and good relays,my electrician (ochiwor)will sort that car out in less than 2 hrs,all this faults are results of poor maintenance and bad mechanics, being low on the ground can be bad suspension and using smaller tyres(which are cheaper)and for the exhaust, just get a good panel beater to do the job,all those your issues are nothing if handled by my mechanics in anambra state, been close to onitsha, mechanical and electrical parts are available and cheap for that car, also make sure the engine is not smoking and chopping oil,if is so then it will cause many problems.

Even if he buys Toyota or Honda, the koko of the matter is that he should run from those mechanics that turned a perfectly working Maxima into scrap.
If not, na the same thing e go be.

if it is me I will not step foot inside that workshop again, that is the sort of place your catalyst will miss, your ECU will be swapped, parts will be taken and changed with faulty ones, look even all the relays switchs were taken out and sold.

Catalyst going missing is almost standard. But those relays, not even only one.
