There has been a long, verified, history of maltreating black people in the USA - many of whom are punished much more severely for the same crimes (and are killed, rather than taken into custody) - so any news raises eyebrows.

It's hard to put this down to anything other than being trigger happy. Those playing the race card and saying that this is evidence of systematic racism are overlooking the fact that the Head of Police who is this woman's boss also happens to be a black woman as well.
