After I lost over #500,000 from my shares investment in 2008, I made a projection and hoping that in ten(10) years time, which happens to be this year, that it would have improved so that I'll sell all because I actually deliberately did not want to monitor the NSE all this while out of annoyance and to avoid unnecessary tension.

I didn't want to depend on information from my then stockbroker, because he knew that the NSE as at that time were projecting false and cosmetic values and he encouraged me to invest and lose my investment. I stumbled into this thread on nairaland this year when I wanted to know if the NSE has improved so that I can sell all.

Thanks for the advice. I'll closely monitor the market from now henceforth since we have a lot of gurus in the house.

Being emotional about the stock market is the most effective recipe for disaster and misfortune in it.
Actions taken due to annoyance with the market are mostly irrational and end up backfiring badly.

Aside few people in this thread many of us were on the NSE pre-2007/2008 and also share the same experience as you. I still have plenty units of Multiverse Resources, Daar Communication, Beco Petroleum, Equity Assurance etc. in my portfolio as evidence that I fully participated in the 2007/8 madness.
I have counted my losses (NSE Tuition Fees according to Oga wanaj$$$) and moved on.

I thought there was an opportunity to run out of Multiverse about eight weeks ago? That stock's turn over alone is enough red flag.

FO better now; what will you say of Intercontinental and Oceanic bank that turned full Afro to bald head; I am learning never to do long term stock investment anymore inasmuch it us NSE

Still learning or you have learnt?
All the same, welcome to the club of experience induced phobia for long terming.

Most cases of loss of capital have such mindset behind them. A lion share of the school fees I paid was caused by that thinking.

a very expensive and traumatic sch fees for me too loll.
What makes trading such a art (IMO) is d fact many things can't be thought or some things need a personal experience to get a deeper revelation of our flaws & self sabotaging systems. I think it brings us closer to who we are on a deeper level thu d ups and downs and in btw

It was real madness then. Good to know that you've counted your losses long ago.

I personally decided all this while not to ever invest in the NSE and was never interested to get info on stock, not until this year. I decided to move on this year. Every investments have their risk
Open an online trading account with morgancapital or any other reputable stockbroker with online trading platform/presence in case you intended returning to the NSE fully again.

The Irony is that people thought they got it cheap at that price considering that it had just fallen from the >#70 it hit the previous year on account of dividend and bonus largese.
NSE is really a funny place.

The regulators are to blame for all these rubbish

They are supposed to be watching these companies and checking them.

But they are there allowing all manners of malpractice go on with reckless abandon

This country sef undecided

masters in the house, please is this the beginning of the crash? gt 31.85?make we know ooo.
...depending on what you mean by crash. My definition of crash market is a loss > 50%. NSE ASI has crashed since it has lost more than 50% of its value that was made through Jan 2018. What we are looking at technically are likely points where it can make reversal.

The index is testing critical level now, but a break below 32057 will point to further downward price movement to another important level at about 28000.

GTB most likely to fall further to a critical level which stands around 26 - 27 now. Someone mentioned about buying GTB at 28. Well, my advise is to ensure you find good buy signal first before risking your money. Average down is not advisable. Talk to your financial adviser for direction.

Good luck everyone!

My teacher Fxuser, I really appreciate you for this update, and particularly for not forgetting my situation. God bless you sir. I was going to put up an update sometimes this week about my action after you gave the analysis (and guide). As I stated, I never practiced stop loss in the past few years. So, I read your reply to my question and that of Oga BullBearMkt almost everyday (I practically read many times almost daily to understand the messages between the lines).

I put up 33% of my UCAP holdings for sale, and about 30% was sold at an average of 3.03NGN (20-21% loss) last week. I feel I should have sold at least 50% though. I will watch out for the 2.40NGN you mentioned. I may end up using the free cash for another stock selling at a great discount(after patiently waiting, till the plunging index gives positive signals). Now I am experiencing the feeling that cash is king, even though one of my legs is in the storm.

Oga BullBearMkt, Oga Tritri, I appreciate your analysis and guidance back then also.
