Oga, stop making a baseless argument

Even the education you are talking about falls under infrastructure
Infrastructure is a broad concept

Students won't learn under the tree or without classrooms...lab and the rest

That aside, I believe that Nigeria’s biggest problem is weak institutions

If Nigeria was configured for people in power to have limits, we wouldn't be where we are

Look how they are probing a sitting president in the US

If our institutions are not strong, Nigeria will always remain a joke

Yes, Nigeria is a joke

Let start with this question below to enable you see the light

Why are African nations like Togo, Benin, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Ghana etc not doing fine despite having steady light, good roads etc.?

This is a basic fact you guys don't understand.

Nigeria should focus more on Technical Education and Business Grants while not neglecting infrastructural development.

What good roads in Ivory Coast?

You guys make me laugh. No be the same Abidjan wey I don go before even this year?

No doubt, educational quality must be refocused but would commerce be sacrificed for this?

Would you retrench the overbloated civil service in between?

Would electricity be put on the back burner in between?

Would you accept this strategy yourself?

Do a research on this question and you understand that that guy is right.
Economic development is process bro, it is not achieved overnight

Togo Benin and Cameroon don't always have good roads or steady electricity before now. Some of these countries still require billions of dollars in investment to catch up with the rest of the world.

Nonetheless, ever since they got these set of basic infrastructural facilities in place, these nation's economies have being improving steadily.

Even China and India didn't just happen overnight!. Yet, both China and India still have over 100millon people living below the poverty line despite their obvious double digits economic growth down the years.

You just can't build a skilled work force without an enabling environment,

who is going to hire them? where will they work?

Who is going to provide funds for them assuming they all want to start producing by themselves?

How will they compete in the global market with countries with better infrastructures?

Do you even know why most Nigerian medical doctors and other trained professionals run to overseas countries to practice their professions at all?

You ponder on those points I raised above and come up with answers

The truth is Nigeria already have many entrepreneual citizens and the basis for a good private sector, we are 180 million people, these countries are small but also have corrupt African leaders impeding growth e.g Togo and Cameroon. lvorycoast and Benin republic would have to free themselves from the cfa currency and the shackles of Frances.

Take note based on real observation.

Nigeria don't have sufficient entrepreneurs.

Why do you think that Nigerians are the largest refugees in Europe from a country that is not experiencing war.

Let's take Buhari for example

How many people has Buhari given business grants worth #3m to start up a business with.?

Also, do you know why many people migrate to Lagos if truly they are lots of entrepreneurs.?

okonjo inheritted more than 47 billions dollars in foreign reserve when crude oil was 100 to 140 for two and half years she never saved a penny and foreign reserve was depleted .and left huge debt ranging from subsidy and federal govt contractors . kemi with meagre resources was able to clear the mess and grow foregin reserve.

kemi deserves accolades

Obasanjo was not a Finance Minister but had initiatives & connections with leaders all over the world that changed situations.

The IBOs are the majority of ignorant & lazy youths fighting psychological warfare online. Ngozi Okonjo - Iweala is a failure who is supposed to be tried with her accomplices if Nigeria were to be China. In her book, she was defending herself. Peter Obi also tried to defend her by saying opposition & governors made her to share the money they looted.

What saved them is Emefiele at CBN. Buhari is only being magnanimous by giving him chance to complete his tenure. President Buhari has given the reason why he gave him a benefit of doubt. The actual reminant out of the $50 billion inherited from Obj as at May 29, 2007 was around $26 billion as May 29, 2015. As at today, the reserve is over $44 billion.

Okonjo - Iweala that was brought to testify against Obj during Yaradua govt when Ndi Elumelu led committee on power was probing Obj. Mrs Amina statement was misrepresented & misinterpreted. Igbos are propaganda expert.

GEJ & Okonjo - Iweala left Nigeria highly indebted as at May 29, 2015 despite making the HIGHEST REVENUE in the history of Africa till date saving no KOBO, spent everything, borrowed & depleted inherited reserve by over $20 billion. The god of Nigeria will never forgive them. They borrowed to pay salary before they handover to PMB

Obj inherited $5.5 billion from Military as at May 29, 1999 & left over $50 billion as at May 29, 2007. CBN & DMO should tell us the total debt as at May 29, 2015

My brother, it takes more than infrastructure to develop a country.

You are contradicting yourself actually, people migrate to Lagos because of the ports. Also Lagos ( a former capital of Nigeria) is still the financial center of the country. Frankfurt remains a suitable destination in Germany as the financial powerhouse of Germany, but Germans in even lesser cities( for lack of a better word) like Alle or Gottingen, would never be in a hurry to migrate to Frankfurt, because the Mayors in those state/ cities have also provided the necessary infrastructure needed for the masses to carry out their business or live out their dreams.
Even the education you speak about as a form of empowerment is part of infrastructure, you need good classrooms and standard engineering equipment in schools, labs and technical schools.

We have seen NOI save and multiply Nigeria's wealth .

Let us see kemi save. Instead the reserves are falling and debts are rising.

I understand your views, but you should know that you have simply chosen to define infrastructure from a very narrow view point

Infrastructure can be defined as the basic physical and organizational structures and facilities (e.g. buildings, roads, power supplies) needed for the operation of a society or enterprise.

Without putting the basics in place, we are just simply wasting our time as a nation.

l am not a zombie, but what you wrote up there is pure bullshit. You need infrastructure such as power, rails, good roads, mass housing, health and educational facilities to grow the economy and also the people ( the middle class and the poor especially).

Please Sir I beg to differ. While good infrastructure can catalyze economic growth, it doesn't create it. Training, people, and money (empowerment) can generate the funds we need to even fund infrastructure. Before the roads and light n rails came, people trained and traded and from those monies, they were able to get themselves niceties, and equip themselves with better infrastructure for bountiful trade. I think if we train and empower people, we can get monies via trade and taxation to develop our infrastructure.
Pls don't be angry o, I know nairaland is filled with hot tempered people now.
