"Doctor," he called heaving a sigh of relief seeing the doctor come out from the theater. "How is she?" he asked. His mother followed him.

"She is fine and stable now?" he assured.

"How is my grandchild?" his mother asked eagerly?

"Sorry ma, she lost the baby."

"No! No! Lord No!," she cried as Richard reached out to hold her while the doctor excused himself to go.

"Can we see her?" He asked behind the doctor.
"Yes sure, but we sedated her so she could get enough rest, so you will have to wait till she wakes."

He led his mother towards the ward where Nonye was. He felt so guilt-ridden. His heart was heavy, and he felt like an animal. He knows he was guilty of what happened to Nonye which he didn't tell his mother. She will hate him if she realizes his role in the loss of the baby. He'd seen the joy and hopes she had of the baby.




DAVID

He rushed into the reception like one being pursued by evil forces dragging the whole attention to herself.

"Good afternoon, I want to see a lady brought in here not long ago, her name is Lydia Moses," he said to the receptionist trying to catch his breath.

"Good afternoon sir, please calm down while I check for her ok?"

He nodded and bent his head a bit trying hard to get his breath under control.

"Ok sir, she is in the second ward when you walk down the corridor on your second turning that way."

"Thanks," he said and ran off towards the direction.

He barged into the ward, on seeing Lydia lying lifeless on the bed with oxygen and drip strapped to her; his heart skipped. He walked slowly towards her as Nickie moved a bit to give him chance. He held her hand and looked over her for a moment. Guilt slowly crept into his heart. She wanted to talk to him, but he left her. Maybe if he had listened to her she wouldn't be in that condition now, he thought.

"What happened?" he turned and asked Nickie.

"I don't know, I came back and met her like this."

"She has been staying with you?" he asked.

"Yes, since she left the hospital."

"She came to my place this morning. She said she wanted to talk, but I didn't listen to her, I thought it was one of her gimmicks of trying to..." he stopped and bent his head. "Damn." he cursed.

"It's not your fault David, don't put it on yourself." she consoled. "I didn't know she was going to go to this extreme."

"How is she, what did the doctor say?"

"She is fine and not in a dire situation anymore. the thing she took hadn't damaged anything yet before they flushed it out of her system."

"Thank God." he murmured.

They relapsed into silence for a while.

"Did she tell you anything that must have led her to do this?" David asked.

"Yes, we talked about something, but I didn't know she'd go this far."

"What things, Getting back with me? I told her I have a girlfriend already is that why she would want to harm herself?"

"No, It's not about that David, it's more than that. She feels nobody can ever date her again apart from you."

"Why would she think that? Look at her, does she look like someone who wouldn't have guys all over her in a blink?"

"Its more than that David, she feels she is damaged beyond repair."

"And what does that mean?"

"She lost her womb, David."

"Lost what? how did that happen?"

"After the last domestic abuse from her ex-husband. She was pregnant when it happened, so she lost her womb and baby."

"Damn," he swore under his breath looking at Lydia. "Is that what she wanted to talk to me about?"

"I guess so, maybe. She feels you are the only one that can take her back."


NONYE

"Get out," she cried turning to face the wall, "Mummy tell him to get out from here."

"Its ok my daughter. Richard please leave." his mum said looking at him surprised.

Nonye had jolted from the bed crying; she must have had a bad dream. At first, she looked around the room before asking where she was. Richard had tried to explain, but his mum took over and tried to calm the frightened girl down. It was in the middle of the explanation that she got upset and barked at Richard to leave. She cried as Richard's mum consoled her till she got herself under control.


RICHARD
He felt so bad for himself. If he had known, he wouldn't have taken that step. He was emotionally down and needed someone to be with. After sitting dejectedly for a while in the reception, he stood up and took the stairs heading to Rose's room. He remembered the direction the receptionist gave David, so he followed it. He knocked subtly on the waiting to be asked in.

"Yes come in." Came a voice he so well recognized as Rose's

He hesitated for a moment before the nudging the door open and walking in slowly.

She was bent over her phone when she had the knock. She watched as the door opened slowly and Richard walked in looking depressed.

"What the fu...." she started but stopped. He was a mess in his bloodstained cloth. She'd never seen him like and for a moment all the hurt he caused her vanished as she put away her phone and stood from the bed walking towards him. "Richard, what is it?"

For an answer, he broke down and started crying. She reached out and hugged him leading him to the bed. They sat down while he cried like a baby still in her hands.

She allowed him pour out his emotions without trying to stop him. She could only imagine what he was going through. For over fifteen minutes he cried non-stop. She didn't like him like that, and it was bringing tears to her own eyes, and before she knew it, they were both crying in each other's arms. They were still in that mood when the door opened, and David walked in. He stood shocked at the sight before him and just when Rose looked up and saw him, he left banging the door behind him.

Why do I have a feeling this story is going to break my heart .Please ooo if David and Rose don't end up together , I will have to rewrite that part myself bikooo.
