Joebie: My dear, I'm bereft of words. To me, the only player that let his U17 success and the ensuing hypes get into his head, hence feeling he has arrived, sorry to say this though, is my brother, KC Nwakali because kid has been boastful lately while others kept working in silence. I saw his post the other day about him not going to miss Eagles match again after that ATM and our failure in Russia, I was just SMH. To him, he is ripe for the super eagles already even though he hasn't done any reasonable thing in Europe. I thought it was a one off, till he started granting interviews about the Eagles and his chances with the team, then I was convinced Dude is on course to destroy his career. Chukwueze and Kingsley iMichael have been making inroads in their respective clubs while Osimhen's undoing has been his injury worries. About Nwakali, bro no excuses 8 Likes |

dreamwords: Just need to correct misinformation. The Ika have origins with the Benin Kingdom and as such you have a lot of Ika people with Benin names. The Ukwani and Ika languages are dramatically different and would not classed as IGBO in any way. Yes there are Ibo origins but it is not Igbo. Just like the Itsekeri they have Yoruba origins, indeed in times past OPC has joined them to guide the Uhrobo and Ijaw. The Ijaw are not in small numbers in Delta state they may not be the majority but they are not small. Finally, I notice very erroneously that some have equated identity with origin. They are Dramatically different. Identity is not static it's more dynamic, it evolves, it changes there are multi faceted influences that create it. For instance the identification of being from Warri transcends ethnic and or tribal origin particularly in contemporary times. That's why AY can describe himself as a " Warri Boy" irrespective of his origins. The concept of identity can be by adoption or by legal definition and or environmental circumstances. But there willl be a number of irrefutable components to ones identity. Such as oneness, sameness, affinity, similarity, parallelism, these components can create a coming together for shared interest, political and or otherwise. So let's be clear the Uhrobo, Ijaw, etc have a common interest and share traditional norms and values. Those components create an IDENTITY in the general that we call SS south south. As to my identity specifically is a matter of choice. But my origin is a matter of fact. You jump the gun with presumption they are areas with an Igbo heritage and origin. But identity that's a completely different matter. You should research the underpinning motivation of largely minority tribes coming together under south south. In a society nation that thinks there are only three main tribes. Finally, Uhrobo have huge Igbo influences infact are more influenced by the Igbo than the Benin in thier origins. That's misinformation. 3 Likes 1 Share |

I don’t agree with your last paragraph. In terms of origins the general rule of thumb is to observe the cultures of the different tribes in question. Let’s take language as a component of culture. When an Urhobo meets a Bini person and he hears him/her speak how much of the language will he understand, and vice versa? How about when an Urhobo person comes across an Igbo man? I’m not speaking of people who have mingled with each other before. [modified: Also consider intonation] As regards identity, you are on point, thats why we have to respect whatever or whoever people identify themselves with regardless of their reasons as long as they are not seen changing positions when the weather changes. komekn: 2 Likes |

komekn: you are confused at the bolded go and sleep, ika and ukwuani speaks different dialect, all are diverse igbo dialect, you wont know because you are not igbo, igbo has a lot of different dialect, which is not the central igbo language,,, you will only believe the propaganda you read on paper, you cant teach igbo people which is their language or not, just like i cant teach you which is your language, all these argurement wont put food on ur table anybody can claim his ancestors originated from anywhere for whatever reasons best know to him, people are known by their ancestral language and their names, , the reality is that ika , ukwuani, aniocha, etc all speak different igbo dialects and their names are igbo, ibo has a lot of sub groups within south east and south south zone each with a unique dialect Subgroups Anioma · Agbo · Aro · Edda · Ekpeye Etche · Ezza · Ika · Ikwerre · Ikwo Ishielu · Izzi · Mbaise · Mgbo · Ngwa Nkalu · Nri-Igbo · Ogba · Ohafia Ohuhu · Omuma · Onitsha Oratta · Ubani · Ukwuani let everyone respect his fathers name case closed bye 6 Likes 1 Share |

komekn:the Ika and Ukwuani are both more Igbo than Benin Haba! Komekn, what kind of things are you saying on this thread? The Ika and Ukwuani have a different dialect, but it is still Igbo. Have you heard an Arochukwu man speak Igbo before? Even the Ika and Ukwuani people sound more Igbo the the average Arochukwu person, if you place them both in front of a Yoruba man, he will tell you the Arochukwu man cannot be Igbo. The Arochukwu people bear similar names as the Annang- names like Kalu and Udoh, does that make them more Annang than Igbo? The funny thing is that these people are closer to Onitsha than they are to Benin. Just stick to discussing your Warri axis, leave Anioma out of your funny analysis. Normal normal, those two areas are worlds apart 4 Likes |

That’s the point, “sound more”. Sound can never deceive you. Which is why I know the origin of the “Aniomas”. Now Safari, when you hear an Urhobo speak it’s a whole big different story. safarigirl: |

Joebie: Look at the whole Uhrobo nation which doesn't exclude the Isoko. And look at the influence of the Benin and the influence of the Igbo. Our languages are dramatically different and have little or any similarities. But what I am talking about is Origin. If you look at the Uhrobo from Uvwian clan they have a lot of names and a few phrases that linguistic origin with the Benin. Even the name Uvwian seems Benin in origin. Correct me if I'm wrong but everybody else Uhrobo uses the phrase Oghene for God and the Uvwian Uhrobo use Osanbruwe which is similar to the Benin language for God. We have a lot of Ibo origins names in Uhrobo much more than Benin derived names consider Okpara inland close to Kokori. That's an Igbo derived name. But let's be very clear historical origination does not equate to present and current IDENTITY. |

dreamwords: We have a lot of Igbo derived names even of small towns and villages. Within Uhrobo land using your rational that means that the Uhrobo are Igbo. |

If you want go by number of words, you don loss be that o, because you will have to go further to see if the words have similar meanings. Sometimes by interaction people of different languages may start to share words over time. Which is why you may see more similarities with people who live closer to each other. You seem not to know the history of the Urhobo nation. Sorry to say. Modified Sound never deceives. That’s the reason for my earlier modification. Listen to the intonation when they speak. komekn: 1 Like |

safarigirl: Your proposition in bold concludes the argument. First, of all I never at any time said that the Anioma originated from Benin exclusively. What I have said is that there is mixed heritage particularly with the Ika both Igbo and Benin. The issue is not in dispute about origin. But whether in today current definition they are Igbo, you could call them first cousins to the Igbo. But calling them Igbo, I doubt if that will have general acceptance by them. I know about dialects and the Nsukka dialect is Igbo albeit quite different from the central Igbo dialect. But both in origin and linguistics they are undoubtedly Igbo. |

Joebie: That's where you are wrong. Without wanting to loose anonymity my Father was very involved with the Uhrobo progressive Union officially. I gave a specific example of Origin by linguistics it was not exhaustive and in all honesty I don't have that capacity. My knowledge is not that deep but, I know loss naa. You may know more than me. |
