Hello Everyone. I'm in the process of filling out a visit visa for my mom to come to the UK for 4 months as I am having a baby in December. My husband and I are both PhD students and I will be fully sponsoring her visit. My mum has not traveled outside Nigeria in over 10 years, so she has a virgin passport. Could anyone please assist with answers to the following questions? 1. Do I mention in the invitation letter that I am expecting a child or do I say she's just visiting us? I ask this because as a student, I cannot take official maternity leave and they may think she is coming solely for child care purposes. 2. For the budget for the trip, I have estimated about £1200 (Return flights - £600, transport around the city - £200, shopping - £300, miscellaneous - £100). Is this amount feasible for 4 months? I didn't include accommodation and feeding as she will be staying with us. 3. My mum can show savings of about 500k. She is in fulltime employment earning N260K after tax. She has treasury bill certificates that are yet to mature though. Will they have an issue with her savings (500k) in comparison to the estimated budget for her trip? Regardless of the fact that she will be fully sponsored. 4. What other documents can she provide as proof of ties to Nigeria? 5. Please see the document list we intend to submit and advise. Supporting documents (Mum) 1. National passport 2. 6 months Bank statements and pay slips 3. Proof of earnings (Letter from employer/employment letter) 4. Evidence of employment (Leave approval letter) 5. Evidence of savings 6. Breakdown of expected expenses (e.g. flights, transport, shopping, miscellaneous) 7. Detailed cover letter 8. Proof of ties to Nigeria (e.g. pension account, marriage certificate, landed properties) 9. Consent letter from husband Supporting documents (Me) 1. Photocopy of current passport and visa 2. Letter of invitation 3. Six months bank statements and pay slips 4. Scholarship letter 5. Statement of student status 6. Utility bills and tenancy agreement (proof of address) 7. Birth certificate (proving relationship) 8. Proof of pregnancy 9. Marriage certificate I'd really appreciate detailed responses. Thank you so much. |

Jarus: I'm guessing that your company is a multi national one and you are in a good position. Your company will never need to attach their bank statement to accompany your visa application because their status speaks clearly. Not all companies has that recognition. 2 Likes |

Good afternoon. Please husband and I applied as a family for a visit visa and hubby is the sponsor for us with our 2 US citizen children. However exactly 15 working days he got a mail to come pick up his own which he did yesterday and it was positive but mine still reads Received by UKVI. Please has anyone experienced this? what could be the reason for separation and how long do you think I will have to wait? Thank you |

omoh21: If your mum is in full time employment how do you expect the embassy to issue her a visa to spend 4months in the U.K.? What happens to her job? 1. State truthfully what your mum is coming to do and give reasons why you need her in your letter of invitation. 2. That budget is not needed, present your bank statement and source of the money in that account. 3. Your mum should present her bank account, payslips, (6 months of each) evidence of employment, and her TB certificate/account. Those lists are ok |

I work for an educational organisation. Been teaching for over 5yrs. Earned 100k after tax. Though the major sponsor of the trip is the company and my family friend in UK who is a citizen. I have a side business as well but not registered with CAC justwise:

pinnu: This is a case of you giving British embassy free money willingly, how can you be sponsored by your employer to the UK to visit a friend? No company does that. |

ebonmic: Good to add, especially if you the account is good as you said, but I have never used personal bank statement (or any bank statement at all) for all visas for my official (company-sponsored) trips to the UK. My other proofs are usually overwhelming (that I consider adding personal statement unnecessary), including that my company has its head office in the UK. "Name recognition"of your company may matter. 1 Like |

Jarus: JARUS... The company you work with has SURNAME if u know what i mean.... If its just anybody working with Boripe Nig Limited or Wasco Global Resources Limited, Its not advisable not to include companys statement of account for business trip or company sponsored trips... its even advisable for anyone one going for business to include their salary account as proof of employment . 4 Likes |

Someone kindly help. Been asking for 5days. , I am married with a kid. My husband did his masters in Uk and also got his post study visa afterwards. I joined him at one time and we returned to Nigeria before it expired. 4 years later we want to visit the Uk. He has a cousin married with 5 kids leaving there and my kid and I will like to spend the Christmas with them. I run my own firm for 2 years now and sincerely haven’t started working on my tax certificate. I have savings of about 2m. I run a company account but my personal current account were sometimes used for operations especially if it’s same bank. My husband runs a contract agreement with a firm so he isn’t paid monthly but based on clientele and at the end of financial year, a certain amount is paid. I am sponsoring the trip. I haven’t been consistent in paying myself monthly. My questions are Should I fill not applicable in where they asked for monthly salary as I haven’t been sending a regular amount to myself. Since my husband has history in the uk should he apply with us. Even though he is not going with us. Also won’t this make our budget higher Our accommodation and feeding is sorted so what will my budget look like. What documents can I present from his cousin What documents can I present. What’s the success rate if I apply for just myself and kid rather than he applies for 3 of us. His account statement may not cover us but he is also a director in my business I run. Lastly i do not have my tax clearance. How does this affect. Pls pardon the long write up. Thank you. [/quote] |
