I am sorry to ask this question bro, you said your wife is from New Zealand, can’t she help you as a citizen to help you secure a good job, just asking from my own perspective.
I’m only here to give few people some idea.... pls I won’t entertain any question about my personal life and with questions like this I might close the thread...sorry

Hmmmm, my people are planning to work in new Zealand with visiting visa anyway I wish you best of luck don't just go roast like fried chicken
I have advised this before that the worst visa to come to NZ with, with hope of settling down is a visitor visa.... but I won’t discourage anyone who already made up their mind probably because of the news on the internet......Things u read online are different from what is really happening sometimes

I will rather go to a country with larger population than NZ and with larger population of my race or illegal immigrants or where I can easily seek asylum than NZ . NZ is a small country with population of less than 5M and things are not so easy to shortcut.

Hmm! That's seriously serious. What if ones qualification falls within the skill shortage area? Can one get an employer to file for him?
Is not.... You looking at it from the perspective of what They call factory job at home.....You will earn a very decent life with this...... probably earn more than some people in the offices depending on how much time u put into it and your strength.... sorry I can’t go further on this

I agree, it may not be fine to arrive with a visit visa, but considering the fact that the status of the visa can be changed finding an employer.
I have read from about American and British citizens arrive on a visit visa and thus change their visa status. It's not impossible.

Is it not possible to go through an apprentice on a trade, like mechanic, then from there obtain there trade certificate?
Like how much do they charge for such?

Yes, it's okay to go on a visit visa. Research shows that 70% of jobs are awarded to potential employees in NZ. Give it a shot bro since you know someone who can provide you with an accommodation and can put you through on how to get top jobs quickly.
Get your statement of account and file your application as soon as possible.
thanks for your input bro, but it seems very risky going with visit visa, I’ve got some mails from where my friend has been submitting my cv & the ones I applied myself, all their response was that I have to be physically in NZ & have rights to work before they will hire me, it’s not easy bro, @OP, pls is there any way I can get work permit before moving over as that will be very easy for me to get a job. Thanks

I really like the way u think and it really shows how determined u are and willing to go...
However I don’t have much info on this and u can google it (I know as an apprentice here, you still get paid though not much). and also make research on farms, factories that employ seasonal workers or essentials skill accredited factories. Doesn’t have to be Auckland.

I will get info about a company in South Island for u. I know they do but I’m not sure what the criteria is, or if they employ from oversea. Then u can research better.

I have also sent a couple of mails from Nigeria for job application. The response I keep getting is, contact us when you are in NZ with your NZ phone number and address.
Well, it's not impossible getting jobs from here but it's a cat race.

i just sent you a PM kindly approve, please i have some vital info i want to ask.....pls

I’m interested in this, are they located in Auckland, what are they into?

But working on visit visa is illegal, which leads to deportation, in this case, how will one work for them before the sponsorship

No u can’t.....I heard most people there are those who came to NZ on working holiday visa which I don’t think Naija qualifies for.

And also those who are running out on their previous work visa but still have some months on the visa to pass the company probation period which is generally 3 months or more in NZ

Ok thanks bro
But is thr no other to go about this stuff? Am about to pay for my ticket, hence my curiosity, so that if it doesn't worth it, I can just move on

Or what if I pick up a trade any trade for like 2 months except construction that has to do with height won't I see any company to sponsor my work visa?

Apply for silver fern visa which will open on 28th November, 2018. The visa application is a quota base which is for 9 months. It allows you to to work. The requirements is that you must have 4200 NZ dollars

Another option is to volunteer without pay of any incentive for the three months period.

@Femijck can ask. But, if volunteer for 3 months without pay and any other benefits. You can be sponsored.

Femijck can guide on this.

Volunteering in NZ doesn’t mean you will be sponsored.... It simply means that why you’re waiting to get ur visa, you are using that period to get some experience, meet people and getting use to the kiwi accent and culture as that will help you when your job hunt begins and also, you get to use them as your job reference in NZ.
But volunteering is a bit complicated and u need to understand it. As a volunteer, if u getting any favour either in cash or in kind in return, INZ considered it a job. For instance some organisations will offer u a free car park as a volunteer or even maybe free accomodation . To INZ, that’s a job and breach of your visa conditions.

Personally I believe one year is enough to sort yourself out but the question is do u have enough money to survive until you get something doing. If your circumstances in Nigeria is not the one that’s so favourable, then it’s a risk worth taking. But I want u to decide that by yourself.

Your chances of getting a work visa either by job sponsorship or any other means depends solely on u and your orientation ( both street and intellectual) People might promise but the truth is they are very busy with their lives as it’s not easy here.... And because of what some of our fellow brothers have done in the past or get involved with. It makes it more difficult sometimes for anyone to help a stranger or someone they haven’t known from Adam
