I have taken my time to read through her story very well and it is very obvious that this company Total E and P Lt is very wicked and inhuman to met sure a treatment on an innocent woman. What suprise me the most is how those IOC companies come to Nigeria and do anything they like with us and our government just fold their hands and do nothing. I hope this case will not be the same like others

I find it disturbing that most persons make remarks without adequate knowledge in unionism as it relates to PENGASSAN. As already mentioned by others here, Mrs Elo is entitled to belong to PENGASSAN as an ordinary member or as an exco and still receive all her entitlements as contained in Total Nigeria Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement.

However, the issue at hand is not totally about her termination (ofcos which is unlawful) but for Total Nigeria to pay her severance package (according to the CBA, which in the case has be slashed even by The Ministry of Labour).

I find this a case of gross insolence and disregard from Total Nigeria for The Ministry of Labour, PENGASSAN and Mrs Elo.

They are still on this issue?

Total was very hurt over this issue, they had to relocate a whole MD ( Elizabeth Proust) over this issue.

Nicolas Terraz will not behave himself now and cooperate. Until people start shouting solidarity on top platform before you will behave abi?

You dey mind him? Until they shutdown platforms, his eyes will clear. I think a Nigerian is hell bent on punishing this woman.

Meanwhile, you dey Total?

Before you write this go check the meaning of unionism, why do you think there is a national union for every worker in Nigeria, let's be logical in our comments not just a paid writeup

Why are you showing your grievances now, when she spoke out, refer us to Your Own publication when you had a problem, let's face the fact, what is bad is bad, she should be paid. That is my take

You want leave of absence for 3 years with full pay? Seriously?

I'm of the opinion that those who take Union office should be given leave of absence from the employers but without pay.

Let the Union pay you for the time you give them.

Read about Unionism, then you would know it's her right, you do not negotiate that.

Interesting comments on this subject.
Has anyone of you read or heard the company's side of the story? There was a Press Release when this incident occurred and she masterminded the arrest of some of her office colleagues by the DSS when the issue was hot. There is always a truth.
Those of us who are in the Union know this woman and what she has done to others when she had the power. Pengassan and Nupeng know her very well. In any case, there are law courts to take employment matters to.
I only hope she realizes this, and God helps her in whatever she is looking for.

She is been paid in her own coin. She was part of the union executives that assisted Ministry of Labor, Plantgeria and NAOC to frustrate Arco Maintenance and Engineering Ltd( AMEL) out of NAOC operations at OB/OB and Kwale resulting to AMEL placing all her workers on redundancy without adequate compensation in 2016, but today she is facing even more frustration and embarrassment because she is been sacked. Very arrogant and proud mouthed buffoon. Receive your reward my dear. CONGRATULATIONS on your new status.(UNEMPLOYED).

It's not her right. It's greed. How can you spend your time working for X and expect to be paid by Y?

Like I said earlier if you are talking a leave of absence to do union work, let the Union pay you.

Total cannot donthis in France yes they cannot. The French have one of the strongest unionnin the world. They cannot do this in there country. It’s because the Nigerian government is so weak. This should never be allowed to stand. No no no
This is not true. In developed countries, when you do union work, you get paid by the Union.
Even during strikes, you get paid by the Union. Why does the Union collect dues?
