a product of one of our local academies Villarreal manager Javi Calleja has described ex-Golden Eaglets winger Samuel Chukwueze as a talented player and is backing him to break into the first team if he continues working hard. The coach of the Yellow Submarine pulled off a surprise by naming the teenager in the match day squad for Thursday's Europa League meeting with Rangers, then handed him his debut off the bench in the 79th minute when he replaced Nicola Sansone. Signed from Diamond Academy in the summer of 2017, Chukwueze played for the Villarreal Juvenil A last term but was promoted to the reserve team ahead of this season. ''We’re using nearly all of our players and I think that’s a good thing. We need the whole squad,'' Calleja told Villarreal's official website. ''Today, for example, Samuel Chukwueze made his debut, who is a player with a great future, but he has to carry on working hard." Villarreal's next competitive game is a derby against Valencia at the Estadio de la Cerámica this Sunday. |

charlesemeka85: No he didn't. Emenike's drought was publicized what are u talking about? Technically nobody on that team is doing much better than they were doing at the time. Mikel left Chelsea to China. Musa left CSKA to Saudi. Enyeama is clubless. Obaboana in Saudi. Onazi left Lazio to Trabzanspor. So are u now saying we should have not called up any of these players? |

you mean emenike had goal droughts for his club prior to afcon 2013 competition ? musa had numerous offers from good teams in top leagues in europe but none came up with the huge about the arabians offered him. the likes of galatasaray, palace, brighton, marseille all wanted him. mikel before he left for china had offers from clubs from decent leagues in europe such as marseille, fenebahche, galatasaray and valencia but like musa's case left for china for the money. oboabona's contract was terminated in saudi arabia and recently joined a team in croatia. onazi had the option to join werder bremen in germany but opted for trapzonspor cus dey offered him more. he almost left for spartak moscow when his turkish club were defaulting in paying his wages but stayed back after it was resolved. enyeama was already a veteran in the national team before the afcon triumph, distinguished himself in a top league in europe and was at a time regarded as one of the best in europe and africa so he has nothing else to prove to us and the footballing world. BascoVanVeli: |

charlesemeka85: The Academies are the present and the future of Nigerian football. It is a big shame the league is as useless as cow dungs for reasons not beyond us though. Everything about the league stinks and should be reformed but sadly, in this clime, reformation is a big crime. 2 Likes |

which guys move? as if they had many options hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha uzoenyi have moved from the french ligue 1 were he was shown the exit door after just a season to south africa where is his currently clubless. oboabona from rizespor in turkey to be labeled not good enough in the saudi league and currently in croatia. egwuekwe from finland to libya currently. mba from french 3rd tier to turkish 2nd tier(i doubt if he is still playing active football), gabriel reuben from been a training material in kilmanock to boavista in portugal to finland and now in croatia BascoVanVeli: |

charlesemeka85: How many goals did he score after the AFCON? By your logic he should have not been invited since he gased out right after. All u are talking is story for the gods. Me too I will say Lokosa had offers from Barca but he couldn't get a work permit . Just like Simon was signed by Liverpool this summer. The fact is that they are at lesser clubs. |

oga what i said and pointing at is inviting the very best we have and if they can't be found in the npfl then their is no needing accommodating them at the expense of better players doing very well in top leagues in europe. enyeama was a standout goal minder in the colors of lille prior to afcon 2013 so why won't he be a memeber of the team? he gassed out as you claim but was able to still remain with fenebahche and later left for al ain, still got interest from westham and played a season there. he was finished but attracted olympiacos where he stayed for a season and half and left on loan to las palmas. of all your favourite local league players none can boast of the career a one legged emeinike had let alone getting recognition from an epl and laliga team BascoVanVeli: |

even the current players from the local clubs they tend to run off to obscure leagues in asia, europe and africa because that's the best offer they got. our local academy players are highly thought of by foreign scouts than those old men who claim to be 21-22 yrs old but have played over 7 seasons bpth in the nationwide league and npfl. emenike have done his bit and had a good career for himself. he made a name for himself from the turkish 2nd tier in the colors of karabukspor where he powered them to the turkish top flight and did so well the next season which earned him a move to fenebahche. he was a standout player in the turkish league and russia for spartak moscow before his decline. so atleast he had good footballing years to look back at and also made good cash. why didn't the likes of egwuekwe, oboabona, kwambe etc get the attention of any decent club after all the hype of winning the afcon 2013? Icon4s: You have made the assumption implying that they are of unquestionable integrity and will never be involved in anything corrupt. Football in England is intrinsically cleanly and corporately corrupt. If not for the indictments by the US justice department we may not have known the depth of corruption in FIFA. This being the case , what do you think is going on in the NFF, Sunday school ethics. |

Don't mind Basco. Some of them only think in terms of the club/league name .... forgetting that, in this day and age, football is business pure and simple. A footballer's career is basically 10 to 15 years, at most. And when you're done playing, what do you rather have to show for it - club name or money O pari charlesemeka85: 2 Likes |
